    This was the comparison video I have been wanting to see. Well done Jules and Karina! I have been looking for some years now for a new caravan that is suitable for towing in Japan and also meets my own parking (storage) needs of a shipping length of less than 6 metres. The three models that keep topping my conclusion list are the Bailey Discovery D4-2, D4-4L and the Phoenix 420. From this comparison, clearly the 420 is the better choice of these particular two caravans. Thank you for this. I keep saying it though, but Bailey need to get their act together and add a third brake light. This is a simple safety feature that should be fitted.

      Thank you for watching and I am glad it was helpful. I know everyone is different but I prefer the 420 too. It just offers more comfort, that said the Discovery range is very lightweight so works for people with a small tow car. Have a lovely day 😊👍

    Well done to the designers, and thanks for sharing.

    Thank you. For showing these smaller models which is more of what I can handle! I really like the discovery and particularly the shape. I also don’t mind the lack of front locker as it often gets full of 💩! The fridge on the Phoenix looks like an American washing machine! I actually think the discovery looks more modern although the kitchen is much better in the Phoenix. They are both lovely vans and your presence in them makes them even more attractive! Thank you for this presentation. Very informed vlog 🎉🎉🎉

    Bailey Discovery D vans are lovely inside and great to tow and when we bought, hadn't had many bad reports. However, I bought a D-4 just before Covid, so it was used once and then stored during our many lockdowns (Wales). It was very damp at first service and Bailey were absolutely awful to deal with and were awkward about the damp report (AWS engineer), demanding it was taken to a dealer. Our nearest dealer will only look at their own caravans, so I had to tow it miles to the next one and they kept it for months as Bailey were slow to agree to the repair. It came back 3 months later but on next inspection was damp again, Bailey's customer service was still abysmal and they did not cover any costs to have inspections. Total nightmare from start to finish. The dealer I bought it off eventually took it back at a massive loss as I needed to get the matter closed. Buy one but keep a damp meter handy and don't buy from a dealer miles away (we did as there were only a few available when we purchased, never again.) TL;dr Lovely van, if it gets damp, terrible manufacturer's customer service and dealers can be awkward. )-:

    Sadly it’s a reflection of the crazy prices these days that £20k is considered competitively priced for an entry level van. Sadly for many of us we have been priced out of the market.

      Thank you for watching, yes, prices have gone far too high for many people who may have been interested in caravanning or buying a new caravan. Dealerships are bursting with stock now so lets see what happens to prices. Hopefully they will come down.

      Totally agree 😮 looking to come back to a caravan after few 8 years away, covid I expect is the reason prices have gone silly and not come down so the makes must be making a fortune, a few dealers I have been to have so much stock left at end of season so obviously buyers are being put off so time will tell, I certainly won’t be buying one on principle, I can afford but no way am I paying 23k for 2 berth pretty basic van when 8 years ago would have got me a top end 4 berth palace.

    Hi Jules great video but are you sure that you can get a shelf lift up extension adjacent to the cooker for the Phoenix 420. I don't thick that Baileys can supply as an extra. Can you confirm please.
    Many thanks.

    Purchased a GT75 420 new after reading this review aproximately seven weeks ago. To my horror after a night of heavy rain I decided to look under the caravan floor to see water running out of a floor vent from inside the caravan. Upon closer inspection water was coming from the front bulkhead and front windows and was pooling along all of the front of the van under the pull-out table and corner seats, and draining out of the floor vents. IS THIS REALLY ACCEPTABLE IN A CARAVAN LESS THAN TWO WEEKS OLD. I still think this is a really good review, but would like to make potential buyers aware of my experiance.

    • @HereWeTow
      @HereWeTow  8 месяцев назад

      Thank you for sharing you rather horrifying owner experience. This is absolutely not acceptable and I would reject the caravan at this point. There is clearly a problem with it. I would return to the dealer and also contact Bailey directly. I am very sorry your new caravan has suffered this problem. Please keep me updated with the outcome.

      @@johndillon1226 Upon examination it seems that someone must have been aware of this problem and had tried to seal between the floor and walls of the bulkhead, (a bodge job). I also found water running down the caravan sides and capillary action was taking it along the underside of the floor, (soaking the floor). I decided to remedy all of these faults myself, as I now know what has been done and everything is OK. As they say buyer beware.Good luck with your next purchase.

    It’s good to compare them with my 1985 Elddis 2 birth whirlwind. The phoenix is so similar, in parts identical. I definitely prefer the home comfort style of the phoenix, more comfortable and cosy. Unfortunately neither will convince me to change as there’s no particular advantage in doing so.
