Jokes on you, I play Young Link, my confirm phase starts at 60 and never ends
Yink gang rise up!
Kinda facts. Lesgo Yink 😎 Drag down Fair 1 and Bair 1 4 lyfe
Charles loves Fox
Love the set and meta analyses but these fundamental tutorials are my favourite!
9:47 never thought about this
The awkward thing about Cloud is that most of his confirms tend to be in the mid game phase (though this is likely the case for anyone else with Marthritis) which puts him in a late game phase even when a handful of his safer stray hits won't kill yet. Thankfully, his mobility and Limit allow him to simply thrive off of positional advantage at times in order to pressure or improve his KO potential in the late game.
It's a double-edged sword against heavies because thanks to their bigger size and weight, Cloud's confirms have bigger windows (and AC dair/ landing up air set ups are more viable in these MUs) but since finishers take so long to finish, that can make it stressful once stray hits send too far to maintain direct pressure but not far enough to KO.
Prolonged games/sets against heavies or characters with great survivability can get rough, especially for the ones that thrive off of reads (for cheeky KOs at 70 or gimps at any%) since longer games = more information. Cloud's recovery does him no favors in this regard since sometimes the opponent can afford to play the positioning game over the percent game
I'd love a video about tracking habits
I hadnt really thought about this closely until now, thanks for ooening my eyes!
Great content! This will definitely help me build out my path for improvement. Thank you!
I love these game sense videos. I do think that it would be nice to have some references to obscure characters that play the game differently like duck hunt or shulk, because I often find it hard to apply a lot of the stuff mentioned to my character. This is also definitely asking too much, but I think it would be sick if once you run out of game sense tutorials you start a series that talks about these videos in the context of obscure characters' kit. Keep up the good work!
Falcon kick in late game phase is a godsend
These are my favorite videos. Great info.
You forgot to talk about avoiding using moves that you use in confirm phase to get the earliest kill possible. With Terry jab-jab-cRT I can kill as soon as 120%, but if I stale it, it kills at 150%-160% (depending on weight).
I had never thought about phases like this. It's quite interesting.
It's definitely interesting to see how most top tiers either have really strong burst kill moves (Pika dash attack, Arsene bair) or a consistent kill confirm move (Diddy banana and dtilt, R.O.B dtilt) or in many cases both. I think this might be why characters without these traits, such as Sheik and Fox, have seen so little high level play despite having consistently good neutral and combos in early-confirm stages, because being able to just avoid getting killed is valuable for so characters, especially ones with ToD combos or really passive neutral
Flat out kill moves dictate a lot of tier placement, people delve into minute details to form larger pictures of a matchup, but when it comes to tiers, having a spammable, safe on shield kill move is a huge deal, definitely.
Glad to see you speaking more naturally in these videos
Really good video. I never thought about the game like this before! My character has a late game confirm - Isabelle jab into down smash. Works at any percent above about 100.
i think these kinds of videos would benefit greatly if you would demonstrate these moments in training mode and/or give a play by play analysis of tournament clips as an example. just talking with gameplay feels like reading a long paragraph while focusing on imagining what you're saying
why does he look so clean tho
This kinda illustrates why Mythra's neutral is so broken. Her moves and especially tilts have relatively stable base knockback at all %s so followups are basically guaranteed.
Great vid btw thanks korean
You only talk about raw kills or kill confirms. Can you talk about the gimps and edge guards?
What would you say are the biggest differences between confirm phase and late game?
Charizard is so ugly in the thumbnail😂😂
