Why do we seem to have this constant desire to stick guys on top of trucks with zero protection?
Surely we can design something as standard rather than expecting our guys to do it themselves in field.

It's a reconnaissance vehicle. Replace the Military Land Rover. It's not a APC

@@GI.Jared1984 Did I call it an APC? NO - hence my comment lol!
recon or not, history shows us time and agian the guys in these end up in the firing line - so would you rather a bit of protection between you and that incoming round or you happy to catch it with your teeth?
From my mates who serve these things are dangerous and easy to roll over, not that reliable and fking freezing to use anywhere but the desert

Surely a remote-controlled gun can be mounted so a solder doesn't have to be exposed to sniper fire!

Looks obsolete to me ,no roof protection from bad weather , shrapnel or drones.

Most things procured by the UKMOD are obsolete on purchase, because the people ordering things have no idea what they are doing and the system is thoroughly infested with graft and corruption.

One lesson from Ukraine is that roofs are no protection from drones with soldiers sitting on top of BMP’s. At least you will be able to see the drones coming with a 360 view

@@christasker2944too high, too small. Can’t see drones until too late. To protect against drones you apparently need 2 or 3 roofs, not no roof. As those riding on top of BMPs can attest to.

This is a reconnaissance vehicle for reconnaissance . It is not an APC or an infantry fighting vehicle.

I suppose you have to produce what you have. The sniper comment is fair but an all enclosed vehicle these days seems to be a bit of a coffin with UAV’s. They could be very useful carting large numbers of these to forward positions. At the end of it we are just armchair generals and it would be interesting to hear what the sharp end guys actually want with the new significance of UAV’s on the battlefield. How many exercises have been turned upside down recently with their use? We learned in the days of Malkara that light armour and guided weapons would change the battlefield now we have new lessons to learn.

Looks like it needs blind spot monitoring detection and safe following distance as well with speeds like that. Definitely should skip 4x4 and go right to 6x6 given operational necessities for Russia Ukraine War and how critical logistical needs are in that conflict. Probably needs a hybrid drive system as well to provide on board power, greater range, silent running and other capabilities for austere combat situations. Vehicle autonomy would be nice as well as could be used a mule for infantry.

Really what is the point of this unarmored vehicle in a warzone

We need replacements for the Challenger,AS-90, Warrior and CVRT.
Personally I think Warrior should be upgraded and then Boxer both Wheeled and Tracked should be bought to expand upon.
CVRT is a unique vehicle with no replacement so a replacement needs to be designed and developed.
When it comes to the Challenger and AS-90 both need replacing but I think we could use a common hull between their replacements which would be 100% British designed and built including the guns.
But then I also think the Land Rover Defender should be put back into production and then modernised and then start being used in the military again.
Realistically I think the jackal 3 is a good vehicle but it’s designed for the wrong Battlefield.

The AS-90 is being replaced by the RCH 155, the warrior is being withdrawn from service, the planned upgrade with the new 40mm gun being abandoned, the CRVT IS being rePlaced by the Ajax. To me, the Warrior is the issue, it was a IFV, the boxer, which is due to replace it, in far less numbers, is an APC, a taxi.

@@paulhill1665 Ajax will never replace CVRT. Ajax is like 2x the size 4x the weight it’s like replacing a car with a lorry.

    • @jammiedodger7040
      @jammiedodger7040 7 месяцев назад

@@paulhill1665 Actually Boxer IFV are planned with the new 40mm that on Ajax but realistically if they are going to acquire Boxer they should also acquire Tracked Boxer meaning there would be one platform for track and wheel that can actually share modules between them.
Warrior is one of the best IFV’s and by far got the best power to weight ratio making it the fastest IFV.
AS-90 Will most likely be replaced by the K9 but most likely they will also acquire RCH 155 to bulk up the size of the artillery force.
