Horrible. The National Anthem is simple. You stick to the original and sing it hitting the notes with the bravado it deserves. Your voice makes it special. All these people out there trying to make it their own. Just sing it. It wasn't mean to be yours.
Your advice is actually solid. You gotta let loose and not be restrained in any way, will sound much nicer, and not too difficult to hit the notes with the right breath control.
