Toyota Motor Philippines offers the Toyota Wigo, an entry-level hatchback designed for young professionals living in cities or those purchasing their first vehicle. The Toyota Wigo radiates joy and excitement from every aspect giving its aggressive front fascia, rear spoiler, and third brake light. The Wigo holds the title as one of the country's best-selling vehicles year after year.
The Wigo is currently constructed using the Daihatsu New Global Architecture (DNGA-A). The J, E, and top-of-the-line G are the three Wigo hatchback models available. Toyota is bringing back a Continuously Variable Transmission for the 2024 model, which replaces the outdated four-speed automatic.
The rear occupants of the Toyota Wigo have plenty of legroom. Eight-inch infotainment screens with steering wheel controls and Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility are standard on E and higher model variations. These days, airbags, ABS, and hill-start control are standard. A push-start button is unique to the high-end G model. The 1.0-liter gasoline 1KR-VE engine, which powers the Toyota Wigo, produces 66 horsepower and 89 Nm of torque. It is offered with a CVT or a five-speed manual transmission.
McPherson strut with coil spring for the front and semi-independent torsion axle beam with coil spring for the rear suspensions, respectively. Front 13-inch ventilated disc brakes and rear 14-inch wheels with drum brakes provide stopping power.
Toyota Philippines is outfitting Wigo vehicles E variant and higher with an eight-inch display audio touchscreen including Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connection, starting with the infotainment system. A 1-DIN audio system is all that the J version Wigo has to provide. On the plus side, it has Aux input and Bluetooth for customized listening. The 2020 facelift's push-button start feature, which makes starting and stopping the little hatchback considerably simpler, is still available for the E and G versions.
A large air inlet located at the bottom half of the front bumper provides the car with more air and improved cooling. In order to create the appearance of a single, broad grille, a black bumper trim separates the lower and higher intakes. Sleek headlamps and vertical DRLs flank the sides of the rear bumper.
The car also has a more prominent beltline, accent line, and character line. A cursory glance from the side reveals the curious absence of door moldings, which creates the optical illusion of a substantially bigger appearance. general, the general appearance is made sportier by these improvements. Looking back, we see that the hatchback's back end is less angular than that of the type it replaces. The redesigned Wigo features a black trim around the license plate, rounded-off LED taillights, a much squarer-looking rear window, and a little spoiler up top.
The Toyota Wigo is equipped with three-point seatbelts, ABS, engine immobilization, driver and passenger airbags, and child lock protection on all models. All 2024 Wigo models come equipped with Hill-start Assist Control, Vehicle Stability Control, and Electronic Brakeforce Distribution as standard features.
The infotainment screen is now situated in the dashboard's top section. The computerized climate control system has been maintained, nevertheless. Convenient storage drawer and a cupholder are located underneath. A simple shifter console may be seen between the front seats and farther down.
