    I don't understand why don't we include the contract price (initial exposure) in our profit or loss?

    Hello, by selling future contract, do you mean that we have to have the oil or any other underlying product in our hand ?

    And at 17:00 mins, I thought futures prices were derived from the underlying asset. How does the following strategies and equations determine the cost of a future?

    I think you made a mistake in your calculations at 15:00 mins.
