i wouldnt be able to help myself... throw a longer mid section in the boiler. swap that silicone tube out for some brass tubing coiled around the burner... superheat it. run a chickenfeed burner. see how many hours it can run continuously before rebuilding...
Very good guess Ian. It was in that region. It runs on very low pressure. I choked the flame after filming with a large diameter washer on the pot and had it ticking over for a long time at walking pace. I prefer them slow, but to power something it will need full herbs. Would make a great gift for anyone interested in things mechanical. Cheers Rob
Enjoyed that Rob, that's more my style, just bolting it all together. Great little kit it looks very well machined. Just watched your video running it. Tony
Hi Tony. It's a very good kit. First I've done and the end product is top shelf for form and function. It runs a bit fast but that can be fixed. Cheers Rob
Lovely little steam engine Rob 👍👍👍 I think it must be manufactured by the same company that makes that UFO Hero Steam Engine Kit that I did a video on a while back. Same boiler and style of base. I think they also do a Stirling Engine Kit. Great video 👍👍👍 Cheers, Alan.
Hi Alan. My thoughts exactly. They have a Hero version of the boiler and I expected you would recognise it. I remember your video and the similarity. This store has some amazing engines with upmarket specs and prices. I went for this model as it was one of the most affordable. Easy build, but it still caught me out ;) They appear to only have steam stuff these days. Cheers Rob
Hi Rob. Takes me back to my Meccano set days. This is well advanced from that: what a great xmas gift for a young teenager. Great to here from you Mate. Regards Merv
Hi Merv. Good to hear from you as well. It's the sort of kit that would stimulate some interest in things emchanical I expect. Good way to start off in life. Cheers Rob
What's the run time? Also, what lubrication do you need for a glass cylinder? I am buying the pre-built version of this engine and it has a glass cylinder instead of brass.
At a guess it would be about 5 minutes as is. By reducing the flame size it can eaily be extended to about 10 running at a slower speed. I use water soluble air tool oil for my steam engines, but none of them have a glass cylinder. I expect it would work OK regardless of the material, but ask the shop what lube they recommend. Cheers Rob
Get functions just like the ones I used to work on when I was a kid on the ranch.I had four wells that I had to keep running for the cattle and were used Fairbanks Morse John Deere McCormick deering and international harvester motors.
Impressive to have an actual valved engine rather than a wobbler at that price point. Good workmanship and design. Cap screws rather than Phillips head is a nice touch, both for appearance and assembly.

Nice one Rob....very tempting. How long from start to finish time wise building, I'm gussing 2-3hrs? Get Christmas with the Grandson sorted

fastest "project" ever 🙂
Makes it easy Ben when all the hard work is done. Cheers Rob
Hi Rob,
It looks like a nice kit... I agree that it would be a nice project to do with a youngster...
Take care.
Paul,,
Have you had any problems with the bolts vibrating lose?
No. If that is happening maybe use a dob of thread locker (Loctite blue) on them. Cheers Rob

Hello Rob,
a nice toy. This could get young people excited about the old steam technology again.
Greetings Michael
Indeed!
Nice little motor, Rob! Thanks for showing.

Nice build Rob. I should build a larger one to run a generator here at home. The price of power keeps going up here...
Hi Jon. I thought that with all your thermal and hydro you would be OK. Cheers Rob

Might be nice but not $196.00 plus shipping nice.
That is excellent Rob, thanks for sharing.

Have you built any C/A motors for model use such as Hoosier Whirlwind?
No.
No pressure relief valvez.
nice little engine rob..
I will not rest till one day I either build a kit like this or build one on my lathe and mill.
Do it. Cheers Rob
I always wanted one! Going to have to pull the trigger on this one!
It's a sweet little thing, plus you get to build it up. Cheers Rob
Thanks for sharing 👍 Might not be the most efficient but it looks cool.
It sure is Craig.
That's a nice one. All these parts look really beautifully made.
They are! Watch the next video. Cheers Rob
Alsome little engine rob, great video.
It all turned out well. I really like the engine design. Very cool. Cheers Rob

What do you want to connect to the pully?
Whatever floats your boat and the engine is capable of turning - eg small genny or hammer mill etc.
That is beautiful..🤩
It really is!
Thank you, Rob! You did a great job!!
Hi Emily. I was going to wait to see how it went before emailing you the link. Cheers Rob
@@Xynudu Hahaha. I came uninvited.😁
You're most welcome.
Cheers Rob
Great project for a new starter to steam, or as you say, a family project. Runs very nicely Rob. Cheers, Jon
Hi Jon. Yes, it's hard to beat. Cheers Rob
G'day Rob. Nice little kit I like boiler design.
Cheers Peter
Hi Peter. It's a sweet little thing. Interesting. Cheers Rob

Totally agree. It's very well done.
Great little kit! From the instructions pix I think the aluminum disk thing is meant as a snuffer, but certainly works as a burner mover.
I think it can be used for either. It's a fun kit for sure. Cheers Rob
Nice little kit steam engine there Rob.
It sure is. I like it a lot. Cheers Rob
