I really want this one but I would need another aquarium. She said it can grow up to 1ft so a 75 gallon is required.

I have an adult african sideneck turtle. Probably my favorite honestly. I was going to buy a 2nd one that was a little baby but someone bought it before I could get there. Luckily petsmart restocks every week.

I bought one definitely worth it and unlike the common red ear slider these guys like shallow water setups and a 40 gallon breeder tank is perfect.
They are super cute
They don’t need or want shallow water.

At minimum be able to stand on hind legs and reach the nose to the surface. You can fill all the way if you have driftwood angled to walk up. I had one in a fully filled 125 gallon. They don’t bask.

I saw one of these turtles at petsmart while getting crickets for my gecko, and I grew an emotional attachment to him😭 he was the only turtle they had and sadly my mother does not want another terrarium pet
They restocked it because I saw it at PetSmart yesterday for $21.99.

What size tank did you get?
I bought a African side neck from pet smart. It will not eat anything. Ive tried like 8 different foods and still doesnt eat
It must be depressed or scared. Do you have other pets? Do you have hiding places for it?
@@Jay_Rule I've had it for at least a month. It's in a 55 gallon with a map turtle. Yes it has hiding spots. Sometimes It takes me a few seconds to find it
@getrdone06 Now it makes sense. Maybe the other turtle is bullying it. You should set up a camera to watch.
@@Jay_Rule I feed the side neck in a separate container with food and a heat lamp.
@@Jay_Rule they get along fine. They actually seek out each other for companionship. They basically hang out with each other alot. I never see any aggression from the map turtle
I have one she stays out of the water for two weeks at a time out in water a few hours

I bought 2 new Oscar’s today and bichir they will be in the 75 gallon to grow them out before they go into the 125 with my 2 other Oscar’s … I wanna get silver Arowana next

True .. they do prefer their own tank .. but I I did do little research they can stay with few Oscar’s in a large aquarium like 125

I think it will be easier to care for one but make sure you have a ramp and heating element.
Of course would 75 gallon would be enough for the turtle
