great video as usual des , sorry if I sound stupid but would it not be better to make the loop on the mainline as small as possible when attaching the shock leader or is there a reason why you have it around two inches
Great video P I and utmost respect to Des as a world class angler. I don't understand the need for an 8lb mono shock leader to 5lb mono reel line when only chucking a 30 gram feeder, or the use of a small cage feeder in " 20 odd foot of water". Surely it's going to be empty well before it gets down to that sort of depth !!
He started out with a bigger feeder to lay some feed down, while it might hold 30g of lead the weight of the feed itself must be taken into account and this can take the loaded weight up to 60-100g which can easily crack off on the cast. The feeder is designed with a solid weighted bung at the bottom end which will reduce the amount of water flowing through the feed as it drops through the water, this combined with a sticky groundbait mix and a firm squeeze should ensure it makes its way to the bottom in one piece
informative video - good viewing well explained cos not everyone is a veteran fisherman :) *Q- what Tip strength you using and with distance casting what tips would you use for each distance/feeder weights? cheers :)

Why you din't use braid on such deep venue ?
What length is the shock leader
With shock leaders you want to make sure you have 4 to 5 turns on your reel when you are casting.
Great video but please, use those clippers to cut of the skin near nails 9:43 ...
He's the most american sounding british dude I've ever heard
Thats not a "lake" ... thats a hole in the ground filled with stocked fish... 🙄😂😂
