Watching you tear apart Hendricks is one of the few things that keeps me alive
i must apologize, as a total sucker for floral spirits, I ADORA'd this one, but at the same time, much like when Im indulging in a bag of salted licorice, I can completely empathize why some folks would HATE HATE HATE this bottle. I can't ever take offence tho, because after all youre the one who introduced me to Mermaid Gin, an absolute miracle in a bottle. Their pink strawberry Mermaid gin makes the greatest gin basil smash Ive ever had!
If you still have any of that, make a gimlet with it. It’s fantastic.
@@skraegorn7317 a strawberry gimlet with mermaid pink?? That is brilliant!
I'm with you... I will never be able to finish the bottle I bought. Reminds me of soap.
My goodness I was gagging along with you watching this one Bobby! I remember the smell of my old Grandmother’s apartment when I was a kid and how I couldn’t wait to get out and breathe some fresh air! Potpourri was big back then as you say. Anyway, I’m gonna steer quite clear of this one. Congratulations on the upcoming nuptials!
Thanks Gene! 😊
I really enjoy Hendrick's, in particular their original gin, but this new limited edition Flora Adora is enjoyable. I made some lovely cocktails with it and enjoyed it on its own! Gin on the rocks can be amazing!
Bought a bottle on Amazon as it was on sale. Then watched two reviews.. both the same conclusion. Quickly cancelled order LOL. Thank you.
Glad I could help
@jamesp8095 ! 😊👍
Freeman, you bastard!! Love your content! Everyone has their preferences, and your honesty and candor are always appreciated.
My wife and I went through a whole bottle of this in a weekend and went out and bought two more! We absolutely loved it.
However, Fever Tree makes different versions of their tonic, and we found it paired best with elderflower tonic, and not the standard yellow one. Thought I’d leave that advice for anyone reading, although you would like it even less with a floral tonic, so 🤷🏼♂️ To each their own.
I like it. I get notes of rose, marshmallow, and citronella interstingly enough. The floral is very in your face. As opposed to the midsummer solstice (my favorite) that was more of a subtle floral but still more of a complex floral flavor
Hey Bobby, great video as always. What gin are you drinking the most at the moment?
We've been enjoying your gin reviews for awile now, but laughing so hard at this video, we had to buy your travel mug, can't wait to use it at work and have people ask about it.
I like the regular Hendricks and want to try this one but it’s more $ here in the states.
Got it at Costco. If you live in Metro Detroit, you can pick it up.
I knew this was going to be fun when I saw the thumbnail. I did pick this up a while back but I do enjoy floral flavours and did enjoy it but I agree it is polarizing. I will say there will be a surprise about your limited edition collectors item mug 😉
I hate this gin so much. It is the worst gin I have ever had. Your reaction was identical to mine. Thanks for the ptsd trigger 😂 🤢
Just tried this and I couldn't agree with you more - way too floral - perfume like - flowers/potpourri cranked to 11.. a bit much, but worked alright l when cut down with lemonade. Will live in the cabinet for a while.
Have to try this one
Unfortunate to hear -- Hendrik's Midsummer Solstice is my favorite variant they've ever released, and I was hoping that this would be similar to it. Midsummer thrived on its subtleties, but the notes you listed mean that this is probably the least subtle gin on the market.
I'm still going to pick up a bottle if I see it; nothing in the world makes me happier than wasting $40...but I don't expect any miracles. Midsummer worked really well in a milkshake (don't judge me on this, I can't help being an American), but it seems like this one's floral notes will cut through anything you put it in.
If I find any way to make it tolerable, I'll edit this comment with some tips. If I don't, assume the gin killed me.
I would never have thought of Gin in a milkshake!
@@garethcharman7702 Same idea as a Gin Alexander. Cream and gin pair nicely, even though it isn't frequently explored. Vanilla works great, but there's this local ice cream place down where I live that makes a honey lavender ice cream -- paired with Midsummer, it made the best spiked milkshake I've ever had.
Bought a bottle and was very disappointed. After taste tastes like soap
I totally agree Ryan 👍
Love your gin reviews. Funny and informative. Here are a few recommendations for you. I just go back from Spain and had a couple incredible flavored gins IMO. They are both called Exotica as a gin type in Spain, which besides the gin adds blackberries, violets, and cinnamon. One is Rives Exotica and the other is 1890 Exotica. The Rives is more fruity/flowery forward, while the 1890 is more cinnamon sharp. I like both for their differing characteristics, fantastic with tonic. I usually don't like flavored gins too much other than the citrus ones. My fave is the Japanese Roku with Yuzu fruit. I'm planning to get a bottle of Le Tribute based on your raving review. I also would recommend you do a review of sloe gins like Greenall's, Gabriel Boudier, Forager, and Gordon's. Cheers.
Please do not pour this into a river!!!!! The fish deserve better!!!
jeez i love this guy!
My last name is Hedrick.
Doesn't sound like anything I would like either. But the name of the spirit is"flora adora". Doesn't sound like false advertising from your taste test of it.
As someone who really loves floral gin and think this bottle tastes fine, the smell really is overpowering and perfume-y.
I’d try it in cocktails. Lemon and lime chunks, some pink lemonade soda, lots of ice. I love original Hendricks, and the Lunar one is pretty good. 😂😂😂 Very entertaining.
I came to find way to make this gin palatable. No such luck. I will wait for an invitation to a cocktail party to leave this to hopefully find a home with a Flora Adora lover. Have not found a way to enjoy it, yet.
Almost bought this in Morrisons the other day, so glad I didn't now, bought Whitley Neill Apple and Berries instead. which is nice if it isn't watered down to much, but I don't taste any cherry in this though supposed to have it, maybe slight apple, supposed to be red and green apple? Definitely get raspberry, but I don't like whitley Neill Raspberry Gin so I guess I must be tasting something else as I do like this one.
flora adora it's the best hendrick's
Oh mate, firstly you are one of the few gin reviewers whose opinion I trust. That said with this one you are very wrong but a little bit right at the same time. Some gins just don't work with Indian tonic but work a lot better with something else (Jawbox and ginger ale , Aviation and Soda) This gin works well with Fever Tree Lime Soda and an old school cloudy lemonade like Fentimans. It also makes a cracking Negroni and it also makes the best French 75 that I've ever had. Before you tip the bottle down the sink give one a go,you won't be disappointed....... I'm glad I bought a bottle before I saw your review.😅
Thanks Garry! Always good to get your take on things! 😊👍
@@nononsensegindrinking5152 you're welcome. But my take isn't verbal this time. My gin cupboard has about the same variety as your shelf and I tend to have a little nip off a different bottle each time to keep things varied. That said I've steamed a whole bottle of this one over the weekend and will be buying another one first thing in the morning. That speaks for itself......
I love the original but totally agree with you, this is like old lady perfume and it tastes like soap
Nothing will match Midsummer Solstice tho. My favourite Hendricks flavour ever. Should have bought more when it was still available.
Its Flora Adora
This is the only gin I ever went out and bought 5 bottles of after trying (because it’s a limited edition) - I liked it that much and have seen other Hendricks limited editions disappear. I too am not a big fan of cucumber, but still can’t help but put regular Hendricks near the top of any gin I’ve ever tasted (for background I’ve probably tried 50+ at this point). Flora Adora is pretty different from their other limited editions though. The cucumber is very muted - almost nonexistent. The overwhelming tastes are the floral and peppery tones. I think if you like Nolet’s, and you don’t hate flowers (or potpourri, lol!), you’ll like Flora Adora. This video made me pour a Flora Adora G&T…thanks! 😂
Your video and editing quality is great. I appreciate your effort m8!
Have not watched this yet but I expect it to go poorly.
You might be correct Trevor! 😂
@@nononsensegindrinking5152 watched now and it went exactly as I expected. I actually was a fan of it as I like floral gins and only sometimes fancy drinking perfume.
@@trevormannion14
It seems like I’m in the minority this time ! 😂😂
@@nononsensegindrinking5152 you wear it well.
I love Hendricks, I very much did not enjoy it. It was just way to much. Floral notes where just so strong and overpowering no matter what I added to it. I can see why some people would like it, but personally for me, I don't enjoy eating flowers.
real good gin
Count me in as among those who do not like Hendricks Fora Adora. The bottle will just be decoration in my drinks cabinet. I will offer it to people I don't want coming around to my place anymore. The best stuff is for friends.
😂😂😂
Great video. Ok it's your taste but I don't like the channels where every gin is presented as fantastic. Keep it up.
Bobby on the money here - it's foul.
Whilst Hendricks would not feature in my top 10 , nor top 25 to be honest, I do enjoy it and is a go too when only ‘pedestrian’ gins are available
To be honest , I think you were far too nice about this one… Foul and Vile doesn’t seem to do it justice… On the Plus side , I can confirm you get a beautiful clean toilet 🚽 when cleaning with it!
Hedricks cant make good gin. If someone tells me its their favourite, i know they don't actually like gin. Nasty flavour and worse after taste. It's also massively over priced. Beefeater is one of the cheapest yet most balanced.
Yes! And Prairie!
way too dramatic....its too floral but your show is overly dressed as well my man
