I wish I could write a powerfully evocative song like this - it truly is a masterpiece! The whole of this performance is stunning! I wish I could sing this song beautifully and powerfully. I also like it when parts of it are sung as a duet - especially with a man who has a gorgeous, deep gravelly voice. I wish I was able to play all the musical instruments especially the 'cello, drums, piano and guitar (but not all at the same time of course! 😅). Is it true that Alanis Morissette spent some time in India just before writing this song? The music is hauntingly beautiful and mysterious! I wonder if she was inspired by her time in India to write music like this or if she actually spent time with Indian musicians while she was there?
The confidence of performing live in front of a full orchestra knowing your voice isn’t going to be drowned out & will still be the focus of everyone’s attention. Long live Alanis!
Her voice has actually gotten better with time…. I saw her in concert last year and she literally can do acrobats with her voice… it’s like she can do summersaults in the air with that wide ranging soprano vocal range…
Yeah! Wright?! Some teacher sad that's crazy how the vocal cords don't "aged". If you sing the 'wright way*, without causing damage to yourself, you will lose the breath capacity to sustain a note so long, but the tone and the range of the voice will be the same from the puberty until death
She was my jam in the 90's. Super talented at a young age. No one can match her vocally. The only complaint i have of this version is that orchestra part isn't long enough. 😊
@FromG2eminor I totally agree with you. In fact, I think the orchestral part (and where the guitarist improvises) in the original version could have even been extended slightly! It's so unique and distinct in its style - dramatic, evocative and captivating! 🎸🎵🎻🎼
Ooof goosepimples! Thank you so much Dan💛 Fantastic reaction! She is an incredible songwriter, musician, singer and woman. Such a powerhouse in such a tiny package.💛💛💛💛
This is kind of her 'Kashmir'. She was sort of a victim of her own success. Her Jagged Little Pill album was so massively popular, I think every song on it was a hit, and where can you go from that? Nothing she did was going to compete, at least in the minds of most people. The subsequent work was really good, as thing song demonstrates, but it just kind of got lost in the shadow of the first album. She's one of the biggest vocal talents to come out of the 90s, and a great song writer. There's a documentary on the tour for that album (under the same name as the album) which has some mind blowingly good live performances. Probably some are here on RUclips. I think the particularly good ones were from a show in New Orleans. The band was killer, and they were all excited because they were blowing up in a major way and the audiences were seriously into it.
I went into a record shop & tried "singing" Ironic to the assistant...she got it! I bought it on the spot....anything from Jagged little pill, anything with Taylor , they had such x great rapor. Thankd Daniel...again..love ;& light 💜🏴🌻
Alanis had a HUGE success here in Brazil whit the Jagged Little Pill album, I was almost a teenager at that time.... you are learning about how crazy passionate we are with what we like. I'm saying this just because surprise me you don't know her so well. For the reason of the distance and language differences, specially at that time...
Why wouldn’t you watch her? She’s one of the greatest singer/songwriters of all time! The Jagged Little Pill album is loaded with massive gems! Thanks for giving her a listen. She just did a complete hour with Kelly Clarkson last week and it’s all on YT! ❤
The song was written for the movie “City of Angels” but I’m convinced it’s about a stalker. I’ve seen the movie and I can see why Nicholas Cage’s character could be viewed that way, but these lyrics seem too personal for it not to be based on some real experiences.
I just watched this and like your attitude about music. I want to spend time on your journey with you too so I subscribed. 😊 She's awesome and has many great songs. Try "Thank You" I like all kinds of music too. Hi👋 you all. Thank you. See you soon for more
My go to for a totally unique, emotionally charged, banger - even the ballads! Anyone who had Taylor Hawkins as a drummer can't be all bad! May be time from something from the S&M album from Metallica and the San Francisco Symphony, seeing as your going down that route. Good choice Lizzie! 👌🏻😊
Absolutely brilliant film. A real tear jerker with Meg Ryan and Nicholas Cage who is a angel that falls in love with a dr. The lyrics are really appropriate for the storyline.
I hope Tommy Johansson Or Floor Covers some of her songs someday ! The Album Jagged little Pill was a staple between my Rush Heart and Meatloaf before i discovered Nightwish.
This was not the best version, although she's always great. One version is stúnning..., is longer and makes you listen a 100 times. Thank you for your response, from The Netherlands.
So, were you in like a cult growing up and homeschooled? There is no possible way, if you have lived around othet humans, that you would not have heard this. If so, welcome out, bro! Enjoy the rest of what America has for you!
Dan you will thank me m8m an OG ....please trust me for music .....do Colin Hay live at the Basement............comedy show iwth music..........you will thank me m8 release one song at a time grow the audience
🇬🇧 Norfolk great choice she feels the music any song from the album jagged little pill is great. Feels the song like Lisa hannigan or aurora 😊more rabbit holes 🕳️ 😂

She was everywhere at one point.

She has one of the most recognizable and particular voices out there! She's awesome

Hi Daniel, this live version is SO CLOSE to the studio version it's insane. My favourite female singer EVER ahead of everybody.
The confidence of performing live in front of a full orchestra knowing your voice isn’t going to be drowned out & will still be the focus of everyone’s attention. Long live Alanis!
Her voice SOARS above an orchestra!? Megawatt live performance of an absolutely haunting song
Alanis has a magical draw you in voice.

Alanis has some AMAZING b-sides. Don't let the radio hits fool you. She goes to many places in her music.
She was my jam in the 90's. Super talented at a young age. No one can match her vocally.

Same exact thought!
It was shortened on purpose

This is her best song, hands down. It was from the sound track of the film "City of Angels" with Nick Cage and Meg Ryan.
Ooof goosepimples! Thank you so much Dan💛 Fantastic reaction! She is an incredible songwriter, musician, singer and woman. Such a powerhouse in such a tiny package.💛💛💛💛
this is one of the most beautiful voice in the world
Love this song
Oh, I love Alanis! Nice to hear her again, this is such a great song! ❤

Hi yes I absolutely love the woman. Songs you oughta know, ironic, all I really want and hand in my pocket. All great songs from this Lady.
This art of God is one of the best compositions of all time. The simplicity of her voice, the crescendo of the instrumental… master piece!
I went into a record shop & tried "singing" Ironic to the assistant...she got it! I bought it on the spot....anything from Jagged little pill, anything with Taylor , they had such x great rapor. Thankd Daniel...again..love ;& light 💜🏴🌻
Awesome Woman!!! I didn't hear Alanis for a long time. Thanks. Greettings from Argentina
Welcome to the Alanis wormhole ❤️❤️

You should really check out some more Alanis
Great song❤
Alanise wrote this song for the movie City of Angels. The producers thought it was to dark so they didn’t include this song in the movie
Such an underrated, incredible song made for her voice!!!!

She does better songs than that more pls
How about Losing the Plot from her latest album… see how her sound and lyrics have evolved. She’s a great lyricist
The problem is we only ever here what the radio plays. Same in the UK. There are do many, SO MANY amazing bands and artists that go undiscovered
Canadian Gold ...
She is very cool. I pove 90s

Te recomiendo Shakira "Estoy Aquí" Unpluged
Does anyone else get a little wet when the band drops it?
Why do none of the reactors who did this song reacted to the "proper" album version? It's the better one.
Don’t worry man. Manly men like Alanis Morrisette. She is an anomaly
