      Hey Kevin! Thanks for the video! I have been looking for this green wire for the last month now. There are two wires coming from my campershell one red with black and one plain red. Do u know which goes to this one?

    Excellent short to the point video. Others please don't post needless bad info. That magic green wire at the rear can be used if you want the 3rd light blinking with turn. In some states that will fail inspection as that light has to stay illuminated while any blinker is on.

    Even though this is an old video, I’ll throw this question in here:
    My green wire doesn’t seem to have an available end to splice to; it’s just an exposed 4in of wire, but no ends.
    I assume it’s fine to cut it and splice into it going towards the back of the truck, right? That assumes that the front of the wire is connected up front somewhere, even though I can’t see the connection.
    Any of that make sense?
    Thanks in advance.

      @@Weiseyyy so the wire goes a long distance and you can only see 4 inches of it and want to splice it? My guess is yours may actually run back quite a ways and if you find the end you can connect there. Otherwise yes you could just splice in. I’d open it up and multimeter it before running all the wire. With the key in position 2 you should get 12 volts when the brake is pressed and no voltage when it’s not.
      Good luck!

    I forgot the signal and brake light works all the same on the bulb harness. I realized my topper light flashed when i put my hazards on and went to open the tail gate 😅

    Ok great. That's one thing settled lol
    Any idea how I can wire in the dome light in the cap as well?
    I would need a constant draw obviously.

    • @kevinsdiy8
      @kevinsdiy8  4 года назад

      I never did it on mine, but my best guess would be just straight from the battery as long as your dome light has a switch on it. Just don't forget to turn it off haha

      I know this is from a year ago but if you are still wondering the easiest way to do it is if you have a 7 pin trailer plug tap into the positive wire on that. If not you need to run a wire all the way to your battery, there’s nothing on the rear end with constant power. It is also possible if you do have a 7 pin that it is on a relay so it’s key on power, if that’s the case again just gotta pull a wire all the way to the battery

    Ok so after running the red wire to the back, how did you connect it to the topper brake light?

    • @kevinsdiy8
      @kevinsdiy8  3 года назад

      So you want to remove your tail light and run the wire up behind it and then through the cable hole that goes into the bed. From there take your 2 cables from the topper light and wire that to a trailer quick disconnect plug. Take the red wire from the front an put that to the otherside of the trailer plug. Get some spare wire and tie the last wired from the plug and ground it to you bed behind the brake light housing. This allows you to pull the topper off and just unplug it when you do so otherwise you'd have to cut the wire.

    • @kevinsdiy8
      @kevinsdiy8  2 года назад

      @@nathanwozniak4325 I remember reading there’s a fuse you need for the wire. And some trucks have it and others don’t. It’s possible you need to add a fuse to your box that’s just sitting open right now

    How can you get the campter light flash with the hazards?

    • @kevinsdiy8
      @kevinsdiy8  2 года назад

      Your 3rd light should never flash with hazard lights. You would have to do some research and figure that one out if you want to make that happen

    • @kevinsdiy8
      @kevinsdiy8  3 года назад

      @@klspann I don't know to be honest. If you want to cut the black cap off and put a multimeter to it you should get 12 volts if you have someone press the pedal on and off just make sure the voltage comes up and back to 0. The caps don't mean anything so you can cut them off and if it isn't the right wire just toss some tape or heat shrink back over the exposed end.

    Wire loom goes a long way in preventing wire rubbing issues.

  • @tedbeemer2352

    Only one thing you should have done. You showed the green wire but the video should of showed the process of the connection to the cap light and grounding process... just saying..
