Ok y’all, I got the numbers mixed up. I apologize for any confusion. You don’t want #3 .The #5 is food grade though so I would look for that. Thank you to the person who caught that so I could correct it here.

Julie thank you so much for the awesome tips on container gardening!! And please don’t apologize for the rooster crowing….I love hearing him! The sound brings back wonderful memories of when I had chickens. Happy for you to get the extra backyard space now the shed is down. 💕

Looks good Julie. I am in Houston and garden in my yard. For the past three years we go the those places that sell dirt, gravel and such. Ask for the vegetable soil and get a truck bed full for about $45 . It went up a little this year but still perfect. We get tons of veggies. Good luck.

Your container garden looks great! It looks like they could be moved indoors if a frost warning was in effect or there was a hailstorm predicted. The teardown gave you so much open space, I can't wait to see what you do with it. Have a great weekend and wish Larry a Happy Father's Day for me.

Hello Julie ~ All that old galvanized roofing and the good stuff I was looking for 6 years ago ! I wanted to do a wall with it ! YUP… love me some industrial elements! How beautiful to have it all open and NOT a catch all for everything. It is nice to have such a thing…BUT makes to way to easy to hang on to way tooooo much stuff 😂
How perfect those benches are for the containers. Happy gardening !
    Love and hugs !!! 🌻🌻💛💛🌻🌻

Loved the container gardening suggestion. Glad you are happy about the shed being gone. Seem like a win/win for both parties.

When doing this in high sun areas use another color than black. They will absorb the heat much faster and cook or dry up your plants

Old bones here. I'm all about container gardening now. Have flowers and herbs. Tomatoes and peppers. All blooming and a few tiny tomatoes and peppers are showing up. I like the tip about the organic material in the bottom. I also put rocks in the very bottom. I think that helps with drainage too

Has anyone done container gardening indoors successfully? I have a good sized sunroom, it’s glass and screen with a window air conditioner unit. I have a room heater as well, cement floor. Live in the south with humidity and heat. This will be our first year planting.

Great idea for the container gardens. I wish I had space to grow some tomatoes and cucumbers. My momma always said she could make a meal out of just fresh vegetables from the garden, and I could too. We do have a farmer that I buy my vegetables from. Your property is beautiful. Thank you for sharing 💐

I would put more soil in the tubs...once you start watering the soil will go down a lot...water the dirt and mix up before you plant

I've been looking into that container gardening myself on RUclips. I just need to get off the pot and get started. But I would love to grow my own squash, zucchini and maybe cantaloupe and strawberries. I can't wait to see how your garden progresses. Btw when did you start this and what are you growing? See ya on the next video.🙂

I don't think you want #3 plastic, it's pvc, not food grade and not recyclable.
You want #2 HDPE, #4 LDPE, or #5 PP. #1 PETE also works.

Why do you put the holes on the sides instead of the bottom? Just wondering.

    • @patriciagraham4786
      @patriciagraham4786 2 года назад +1

It helps to retain some moisture, if you put holes 1 - 2 inches above on the sides.

Mate. Those holes, just aren't big enough. If you get a downpour, your containers will turn into bog gardens.
The sheila, on that other channel doesn't warn anyone about that.

Be very careful when using plastic for growing vegetables because some plastic material is bad for your health. They do make healthy plastic products but you have to make sure you use them for anything that you will be growing and eating
