The silly little thing on the kawi is a dual kickstand, while standing next to the bike balance it up on two wheels step on the dual stand and pull up and back it will lift up and is very stable no leaning. A very useful tool to have.
I just started this video, and I already started to think....that van would make a wonderful home for that Smeding 383, a better trans etc...and run that on power tour next year
@@williamsinger4124I said the same thing. He shouldn't paint it either. Just send it to Bryan at the Auto Spa and have him do an interior detail, re-laquer the wood panels. I wouldnt even fix the headliner.😊
my grandfather had the same year van just not the conversion part. it was very reliable, it has over 400k on it and not once has it broken down only thing he's done is normal oil changes. they don't make cars like they used to and that's a fact
This van was born when I graduated from high school 🏫 😊. I would love to have one of these. Much easier to deal with than the current generation of vehicles 😊
I sold these vans back in the day, surprising what a good product they were. I had customers who would come up to me and tell me stories of the vans I sold them new. Always made me happy to hear my customers were very happy with them.
if you can get the van to pass your safety issues this might be a really cool vehicle for nick. Could be the coolest kid at school rolling up in a party van!
That is a kickstand to set it up straight, level. You stand it up ,push down and pull back on the bike. It brings up off the rear wheel. Try it and you will see. It may be a little hard by yourself but it will work.
Growing up in the late 90s my dad had a 91 Safari he bought pre owned in 94 right before I was born and let me tell ya he drove the hell out of. He sold it in 2015 with just shy of 450k miles to one of his buddies that really needed a ride. Never touched the engine other than basic little things like water pumps and such. Just 1 transmission and rear-end replacement at around 370k miles
Had 95 Astro AWD that 4.3 was amazing put 295 thousand miles on it with only basic maintenance was living in fear of fuel injection spider failure but it never did. Was amazing in the winter.
That home sound system is Badazz! I have a vintage setup from the 70s merged with my Sony Surround Sound from the early 2000s. Can’t beat vintage gear💯!
Randy the vortec v6 is an absolute beast I had a 2003 work truck that had 265,000 when I sold it to a good buddy of mine. He drove it another 200,000 miles the odometer read 465,000 when he got t-boned in it that ended its life otherwise it was running awesome....
When I lived in Korea (06-09) wed a used Chevy Astro van just like that and it was AWFUL! I was only 1-3 years old but yeah. I love that one and keep it up randy what a steal!!! ❤
Best purchase of all time! I've owned 3vof those. 94,96,2005. All are fantastic. 4.3 engines in them are perfect. Basically a 350 engine with 2 cylinders cut off the block. The engines are awesome. Great mileage. The wood on those are easy to clean if not completely damaged. Otherwise you did well! I'd buy it if I lived closer. I'm in Cincinnati. Love those Astros and the gmc version
My Mom had a few of those Astro vans and had a Safari that was set up a lot like this one. I’ve always liked them and honestly wouldn’t mind having one! Also, love the audio equipment. A turntable will complete it!
I love these old GM 4.3. Been around them all my life, grandpa had multiple, my dad too (S-10, S-15, Sonoma, Blazer, Jimmy) to work on the farm or in the forest… They never skipped a beat. They could be clapped out with a tone of issues and always started right up.
It’s definitely a kickstand! You step on it while pulling on the handlebars and the bike will stand up straight! I guess it’s a safer option Versus the old style kickstands and 😊
I was a furniture restorer for over 50 years. During that time I restored the interior wood in three Rolls Royce's. Do one and others will follow it seems. Countless wooden sports car dashes as well. The interior of the conversion van had my attention and it can be restored but it will need a lot more than a sand and finish. Another outstanding purchase along with so many others. Grand video. Thank you.
Nice audio and plenty of cool rides. Randy I really enjoy your videos, I watch every evening when I get home and chilled out after work! Keep up the good work brother you've definitely taught me a lot 👊🏿
Thanks for the Video Randy. A change of pace. Of course I'm into audio, and I have been for decades. Glad to see you are getting into it. The present day tech is amazing versus the old stuff. Some of the speakers today are just amazing.
Talk about a digital screen on a 1994 Chevy Astro wow. My pops first van was a 98 Chevy Astro and that van like a Champ and then my dad bought another one for his work. Never gave any issues to him and I would say it still better then some of the vans we have.
Cerwin Vega, Pioneer, Dahlquist, Marantz and Yamaha were the sources of the best sounds of the 80s and 90s for me. People lived in crappy apartments and rental houses BUT they almost always had a kick ass stereo and TV.
Born mid 90s, hated my uncles 5.0 with his 15 kickers while I was 5 and road in the back with no cart seat, vibrating… yet here I am fast forwarding 5min to get into it but see speakers! So I start from the beginning haha hate becomes a love. Boom boom
Hey Randy, that (silly Lil not a kickstand) on the Kawasaki. Is indeed a center stand. You put your heel on it and rock the bike back until it sits up straight. Much more secure than the leaning kickstand.
Paint or Wrap the wood in vinyl on the doors and console Take wood off interment cluster go te salvage and get factory baseless And steem clean clean clean And you will have a nice old van
I have a real soft spot for these Astro/Safari vans. My dad had a bunch of them when I was growing up. They are terrible passenger vans, but are work trucks through and through. The thing that really helped them was those old 4.3L V6's were bulletproof, they got really bad fuel mileage, always ran rough, and almost every one I've ever seen had an exhaust tick, but I've never seen one that doesn't run unless there's a hole in the side of the block.
As a kid, I loved those vans, and no, not for the free candy. I wished my parents had one so I could live in it, with TV (incl nintendo), cool lights, comfortable seats, etc. 😎
That is such a sweet Astro Van! Loved the early years especially the 80's versions. A friend had a 91 Astro and a 94 Safari for a long while. The Vortec is a good motor knowing both of his vans had well over 390K miles on them. Still looked pretty good as well in similar shape to this one. Great score on this van Randy it doesn't need much either. Just a cleaning some AC and maybe tires. Can't wait for the next video!👍
Have a 1993 astro Ext AWD satellite conversion. My family bought new. The cool thing Randy is the mileage 47.k lol. It's been sitting since 08 in Tennessee in knee high grass with everything pretty much gone from sitting 😔. That's a cool find & brings back so many memories from my youth. Thanks dude 👍🫡✌️
Great van for content would love to see you get the AC working and clean her up like she deserves you have no money into her as it is it'd be worth putting a few extra bucks into her 💯
Just seeing the thumbnail for this video instantly brought back some good memories of the ‘93 GMC Safari that my grandpa had. Wasn’t a conversion van though. It was just a good old reliable van!!👍👍

The peg behind the kickstand it's called the center stand. It is used to remove the back tire if necessary and for other purposes. Drop it down with your foot and push motorcycle backwards to utilize
Digital display in 1993 that van was way ahead of its time!!!
Nope they started in the 70’s became big in the 80’s and started dying in the 90’s and bounced back in the late 2010’s
Look up the 1987 buick somerset 😂
Look at late '70s Chrysler products and I think mid '70s Chevrolet products or GM had that as well it's been around quite a while

Poor Nick…doesn’t need to be stuck with “yuck “he really wants a Mustang (learn right from the start)

Love the vintage audio. Consider looking into a vacuum tube driven amplifier. That's right up your ally Randy. Best sound out there. also awesome van.

Randy I love the stereo system, I got a old Kenwood stack with a set of cerwin Vega 12s and I still prefer that over the new stuff
