When I lived in Orlando in the summer of 2000, I was dirt broke. But for an entire summer, every Thursday after I cashed my paycheck, I treated myself to lunch at this Taco Bell. Two dollars would get me two cheesy gordita crunches since they were the new item at the time. I had no money to splurge on anything else in life, but I always made sure to treat myself to lunch once a week. In the many years since then, I've been back to this Taco Bell many times, and always order my same two cheesy gordita crunches. Every time, I think about how much better I'm doing for myself, and give my younger self a pat on the back for surviving such a financially challenging time in my life with my sanity in tact. I will miss this Taco Bell greatly since it served me so well when I had so little. Adeiu old friend.
In the early 2000’s when I was broke, on Thursdays a local chain restaurant in East Tennessee named O’Charleys used to do .50 cent chicken wings each one cost .50 cent and they gave you free bread. So me and my friend would go every Thursday or Wednesday I can’t remember what day 1 of those.
Amazing how our Disney memories stretch so far and wide. Even the little, the mundane, Disney moments come back, reminding us, of even those simple little events, would mean so much, in our later lives.
After editing and rewatching this before uploading it really hit me as to how sad this is . I understand progress but dang there are some serious memories for so many people on this land that’s about to be bulldozed . Decades of memories for those visiting wdw or cast members who’d let their hair down after work . End of an era
I understand your feeling. I feel the same way about the Branson, Missouri area. So many homes, parks and beautiful places destroyed....just for the tourist money. Now Branson is just.... sad. It used to be a nice place with Silver Dollar City, and Shepherd of the Hills and a couple of family shows. So sad..... sad, sad, sad.
Was thinking the same...part of the consumer drive is the endless need for "new". So glad you prioritize posterity. My travel mate used to pop out to Goodings for breakfast fixings while I slept in at the All Stars. That was my first trip to WDW in the 90s. Great memories! Also I'm amazed at the peek into McDonald's. My local McDonald's still has that style of decor here in Canada! I'm sure you'll be back on property in future to see the transformation and ribbon cutting. Always appreciate ATW, Historian.❤
So depressing to see this... So many memories at these places. Late night dinners at Perkins with my uncle, Sweet Tomatoes right after my son was born, Fudruckers when I just got over the worst flu of my life, I celebrated getting hired at Disney by going to Pizzeria UNO, and I went on a date at the Hideaway. Over the years I went to almost every place in The Crossroads at least once. I'll miss this place terribly, thanks for preserving a record of it Adam.
I'm in tears as I write this... This was a "Disney must do" spot for my son when we would go to WDW once or twice a year... he has since passed away and the memories of taking him to his favorite spots in there are heart warming to me... Disney properties had all the glitz and the glam but we loved our father and son times at his favorites: Jungle Jims, Buffalo Wild Wings, Fridays, Fudds, and Moes (he loved how they would yell welcome to moes when you walked in)... It sounds crazy but tearing it down is soul crushing to me... and for something as stupid as an exit ramp? Really??? I went to Disney one time since he passed and while it was to heart wrenching and impossible to enjoy myself I did take a ride by the plaza to stroll around and weirdly enough it brought a smile to my face... So long Cross Roads you will be missed by more people than you know. 😢
FYI - it was always a goodings... all the way back to when I first came to orlando and worked at Disney in 1989-90. There was also a restaurant there in the corner called "Jungle Jim's" that was kinda-sorta a throwback to Trader Sam's that had the elephant feel bar stools that the bartender could raise and lower. It was a fun place but closed probably pre-2000. When I came to casting and applied for a job at Disney in 1989 and they asked me to. come back the next day for a 2nd interview I stayed in the Best Western right there behind that shopping center and actually ate at that Taco Bell. I went back the next day and got the job and moved to Orlando the next week, moving out of my parents house leaving with just a suitcase and $79 to my name and slept on my friends floor for months until I saved enough to get my first apartment. I spent a LOT of time in that area eating at that Perkins, Jungle Jims, Taco Bell... sad to see it go.
One of best and only memories I have of my Dad centers around this Crossroads shopping center. My Dad had my sister and I for the day, and he told us he had to go and run errands at his friend ‘Jim’s’ house. We were both very upset as we had hoped to spend the day doing something fun with him. Best moment ever when we pulled into the Jingle Jim’s that used to there!!!! I still think about that every time I drive past. Sad to think that it will all just be a a memory now.
That intersection is so dangerous, I’m honestly happy to see they’re re-working it. I got T-boned and broke my pelvis going back to the college program housing from that McDonalds a couple years ago 😤
Wow! Lots of memories! FYI The topiary in front of TB is a “BELL”. My wife caught that and then I “chimed” with the usual oh yeah! It was so obvious once she said it...
Man so sad, losing a beautiful restaurant there in johnnies hideaway, the formal Pebbles. I worked at johnnies for a couple years when it opened 10+ years ago
My ex-fiancé and I made so many memories there. The first meal we had as a family was at that sweet tomatoes. We lived down the street, so we'd go to that taco bell all the time. That McDonald's was a regular hangout spot for Cast Members completing the DCP. Losing The Crossings feels like losing the last remnant of some of the best years of my life
My high school friends and I used to visit that Pirates Cove mini golf frequently. Then a few months ago I took the wife and kids. I’m so glad I took a bunch of photos of us playing before it gets torn down. Man, this stinks… :-(
My parents moved to LBV in 1989 when I was 5 years old, and I remember shopping with my mom at that Goodings all the time. Also we used to go to Jungle Jim's in that plaza a lot as well!
I have decades of memories at that place. Ever since Fuddruckers opened up there, my old man and I would stop there every year on our way to Sun N Fun down in Lakeland, and it was nice to have Goodings there since I live less than a mile from there. Crossroads is a staple in our neighborhood and now soon will be gone. I got to go through there one last time and do as you did and try to document everything that I can.
Does anyone else remember pebbles restaurant? Incredibly eclectic menu owned by the light Manny Garcia. Oh Adam the memories you’re bringing back from the 80s
"Jungle Jim's" restaurant originally where Chevy's is now. HOOTERS, over near the Deck that was falling into that Pond.... I was told that Disney owned all that land??
Jungle Jim’s is my outstanding memory back in the day. I seem to remember the helicopter from TV’s ‘M*A*S*H’ was in there. Goodings, Pirates Cove, will kinda miss ‘Crossroads’.
Gooding's was the only carpeted supermarket I have ever seen. We have been to a lot of those establishments. The hardest part was trying to make a right out of that parking lot at the busiest time of night, the light would stay green for 5 seconds!
Thank you for documenting this area Adam. Lots of memories for myself and my fiance, a former Disney Cast Member. Progress for some, fond memories for others.
The property was bought by the State of Florida FL DOT for interstate I-4 expansion. Tenants had until end of August to vacate. Many have already relocated to the new O Town Plaza just a couple miles away.
One night a couple years ago, we were going to that McDonalds. Traffic was heavy. As I pulled into the Crossroads drive from 535, there was a cat in the middle of the road. It seemed frozen and didn't know which way to go with all the cars buzzing around. I got out of my car to try to move the cat to the side of the road. Luckily all the traffic stopped behind me. The cat took advantage of this and moved into the bushes along side of the road. I still wonder to this day if the cat found its way out of that situation.
Not ever a Publix. I was on the Disney College Program in '89 and it was a new Gooding's that year. It was a very nice store but wildly overpriced for the tourists. There was a Publix down 535 at the intersection with 192. That Publix has since moved to Osceola Parkway towards The Loop.
The crossroads was the go to for the Disney college programmers on Wednesday nights. Buffalo Wild Wings would have karaoke/under 21 night club. Cover was $5 or free if your over 21. So many good times spent there
I remember passing by this center every time I traveled to Orlando with my family. Lots of childhood memories from this place, and I'm sad to see it go
Adam I worked at the Goodings and it was always a Goodings!! Worked there for just shy of 21 years!! My mom did too! I met a lot of cool people there!! Been closed for 1 year and couple months 😪
I remember visiting the Crossroads shopping plaza man of times. I used to go to the McDonald's after concerts at the House of Blues, I ate at Friday's when working near or on Disney property. I got food from Gooding's plenty of times.
Tom & Chee was founded in Cincinnati. There are a few locations in the Cincy/Northern KY area as well as ones in Pittsburgh, OK City, and Kennesaw, GA.
As I watch this I remember all the meals that I had with my family at many of those establishments when in Orlando. Flippers, Uno, Perkins, Firehouse Subs
Eminent Domain can only be used to take property for the public good. In this case, they are expanding I4. Eminent Domain could not be used to take property for a Walmart.
This is a bummer; whenever I'd visit WDW, I always remember seeing those signs from the highway. It was one of the things I remember from my first visit in 1995. Kind of sad to see it go.
Love your channel. Thanks for being you and bringing fun content when the world seems to be crazy. My husband and I always look forward to your next video.
Thank you for documenting this. As a Disney cast member lots of memories of meals after work and get togethers at this location. Very sad to see another familiar place gone forever.
Thank you, Adam and Micah for the time and energy to film and document Cross Roads before it all gets torn down. Hopefully the restaurants will find new locations to open up in. The McDonald’s I grew up on got torn down and was replaced with school administration buildings. It seems like just about all mini golf places are going away for good. Keep doing what you’re doing. God bless you and Micah
Thanks for making this video Adam. My family has been vacationing to Orlando and Disney World for over 30 years, and a round of golf at Pirates Cove and a meal at one of the many Crossroads restaurants was always part of our trip. As were many visits into Goodings for vacation rations to enjoy. We had known this day was coming, but it's so very sad to see everything closed up now, especially Pirates Cove. We were just there this past March. We're so glad we were able to go one last time and make more family memories ❤️ We really enjoy your videos. Keep them coming and stay well!
Thanks for documenting this Adam. I too have very many memories of that shopping center, from shopping at Goodings on my honeymoon in 1991, going to Cold Stone in the 2000s, and eating at the Sweet Tomatoes a couple years ago. 😢
Brit here, and I find this video sad and depressing. Crossroads was perfect for me and the family when over in Orlando, and Goodings in particular. An expensive store but we just loved the variety it offered with the different products. Thanks for posting this.
It’s a shame how that property has changed. I remember back in the day when it was just wooded area for a far as the eye could see. The old man who owned it had a dream about breeding, Palm Trees!!!
Ah yes, old man Peabody. I had forgotten about him. Weird dude, always going on about an airplane with no wings crashing into his barn or some nonsense.
I ate at that Fuddruckers a couple of times. And I agree with you that at one time they were in the top of the list of burger places but over the years it has gone downhill.
Adam, thanks for putting this one together for us. My family and I had one last visit over there for dinner to the Perkins during our July trip. I knew this was coming soon, so glad we did. Some of the classic originals has been gone for years (looking at you Jungle Jim's!) My family trips during childhood always included a lunch there, and a stop at the Disney store until they were replaced. So many other memories at Gooding's and others too. Crossroads will always feel like an extension of WDW. I'll miss it as much as when they close things on property.
Thank you guys for posting this , we come over from the UK and always stay in this area either on htl plaza blvd or palm parkway, it’s been a huge part of our lives for a good 25 years missing Florida with the covid restrictions holiday now moved to October 2022 , be safe you pair of absolute legends, catch you in your movies ! , will shout you a hot caffeinated beverage if we bump into either of you next year .
We stayed near by late 2018...we ate at a couple of restaurants there and I got some groceries for our stay from Goodings. I'm from Australia and I was mesmerised with what was available in Goodings. We stayed at a hotel just around the corner so this little plaza is part of our memories of our trip to Disney...Sad to see it all go. Thanks for sharing! Love from Australia ❤️🇦🇺
Adam! I love the They Live t-shirt! Of course all your stories are addicting. I have loved your channel for so long. But that T-shirt, that is so esoteric and insanely cool. Stay safe, and being so entertaining! You are vital, and genuinely appreciated.
We would always stop at Gooding's to get some provisions, before going onto our Disney hotel. Yes, they were not the cheapest, but it was a sort of tradition from when it opened. The last time was 2016.
Tom & Chee is a Cincinnati staple! Come to Cincy and we will take you. The Shark Tank thing was for selling franchises. The company started as two guys making grilled cheeses on downtown Cincinnati at a food cart.
On our last trip we went there to go to the supermarket only to see it was closed. Driving around the property we were so confused, Now it makes sense. Thank you for the video.
Pre pandemic, we were coming to Disney twice a year, for about 20 years. Stay at the Hilton just a few hundred yards away. So many memories of Perkins, Goodings and Pirates Cove. Our son went to the golf from being round 5 to being 19 with his dad. We always went to Goodings on the last day of holiday to buy cakes and goodies for the hotel reception staff. Who knew in October 2019 that it would have been our last time in Perkins. I would have definitely had another order of pancakes!!! Happy times.
The amount of nostalgia in this episode is an understatement. For all of us CPs especially from the early to mid 2000s BDubs is a staple, almost as much of a staple as the Vista Way hot tub. ❤️🥺🥲
Sad to see it go I remember hanging out with a Disney College program buddy of mine when I was doing the Disney College program back in the spring of 2004. Memories Nanny!
We've been coming to the Orlando area sine 1994 and never realised there was so much at this junction of the 535 and I4. We finally get to return after Nov. 08th. 2021 so no doubt we will be surprised at what has changed down the 192 (near our home), on I-Drive and along the I4. Thank you Adam, and Micah.
Wow?! This shopping center has a sentimental place in my heart. It was the first place we stopped in 2011 to pickup our WDW Tickets. There was a travel center or something in the back. It started over a decade of trips to WDW and FL.
Great video! So many memories of this area - did a Disney international program in 2011 and my apartment had a view of the highway & pirate golf :( so sad to see it’s all going
Oh wow! I had forgotten about that mini golf. I remember now, driving down I4 many times and seeing the mini golf. And thinking that looks like a neat place to check out and play a round! Sadly never did. Sad when history and memories for people get wiped away.
I was born and raised here and crossroads was my go to on weekends after going to disney village is what I use to call it. Then changed it to downtown Disney-pleasure island ... Chevys was called Rio bravo 👏. Thank you for this video. Many memories... :( 😞
Sad to see this go. The grocery store was originally an Albertson's. I remember when it first opened. Many times when I worked at Disney, I would grab a quick bite at the Taco Bell before my shift. I dined at the Perkin's many time with fellow cast members after work.
Always used to go to Gooding’s on our trips there. I loved that place. I even took a picture of it once for my scrapbook. Loved eating at Jungle Jim’s also.
I miss the Jungle Jim's restaurant that was there. Went there as a kid and even took my wife there during our honeymoon to Orlando in 2004. Good memories.
I spent many happy lunchtimes, dinner times, partying , shopping at crossroads 26 years ago when I lived at vista way, it was always so busy, sr535 has changed a heck of a lot, there was bother until crossroads apart from 7/11 across from vista way and if you walked the other direction there used to be a couple of gift shops ( tacky gift shops we used to call them)
Hey Adam! I’ve been going to Disney World on vacation since 1987 with my family and I believe it used to be a Publix in the early 90’s if I remember correctly. Also there used to be an awesome jungle themed restaurant named Jungle Jim’s in the early 90’s in that same shopping area. It’s so sad to see that area closed and the McDonald’s closed. We would go to that McDonald’s after a long day at the parks and take it back to the Caribbean Beach resort. Part of my childhood now gone with the removal of the Crossroads.
Got a lot of memories in that shopping center over the years. Frequented several places in there regularly. Sad for the business owners because imminent domain is NEVER good. The restaurant that you couldn’t figure out what it was called was Johnnie’s Hideaway. The topiary in front of the Taco Bell was a topiary of the Bell.
When I lived in Orlando in the summer of 2000, I was dirt broke. But for an entire summer, every Thursday after I cashed my paycheck, I treated myself to lunch at this Taco Bell. I ate at a bunch of those places just a couple months ago on my first trip… definitely gonna appreciate a better off ramp though
Adam, your mushroom topiary was actually a Bell..... hint hint Taco Bell?😉
That’s what I was thinking too.
Definitely a bell......!
That’s what I was thinking as well! It’s the Bell for Taco Bell! 😂
Haha.... as soon as he said mushroom, I paused the video and came to the comments to search for the remarks about the mistaken identity mushroom/bell.
Paused and came to comment this but you beat me to it....in Adams voice "Dang"

Adam and Micah make a great team. So much Disney, Florida and movie knowledge between them. The new Dynamic Duo!!
Always a great time hanging with him . One of the few that truly care about wdw history deep dives
Very kind comment! Thanks Pattie
I couldn't agree more with this comment. Huge fan of these guys making videos together.
I could not agree more Pattie. They make a great team and work very well together, for us.

When I worked there in 1990 at the Studios, Jungle Jim's was an employee hangout
That intersection is so dangerous, I’m honestly happy to see they’re re-working it. I got T-boned and broke my pelvis going back to the college program housing from that McDonalds a couple years ago 😤
Have stayed on Hotel Blvd too many times to count... RIP Crossroads, you shall be missed.
Johnnies was owned by talk of the town restaurants which also owns Charlie’s steakhouse
I got a hole in one on that mini golf course back in 2006 , the one with the humps .
I hope they rescue those beautiful red tropical bushes! So much nice landscaping remains!

Thanks for documenting this. Visted that area a few times. Brings back good memories.
Gutted that this has closed, loved to stay on hotel Plaza Blvd , this closing is enough to make me want to stay elsewhere
TWO Ernest P Worrel joke and pirate puns, this is the content the world needs!
Love you Adam and your videos. Thanks for what you do.😊
Thanks for making this video Adam. We're so glad we were able to go one last time and make more family memories ❤️
We really enjoy your videos. Keep them coming and stay well!
15:20 cupola they're called.
And stanchions are rod like, those were sign footers.
Love your videos man!
Thanks for the videos Adam. My wife and I enjoy watching them.
Thanks for documenting this Adam. I too have very many memories of that shopping center, from shopping at Goodings on my honeymoon in 1991, going to Cold Stone in the 2000s, and eating at the Sweet Tomatoes a couple years ago. 😢
WDWCP spring 1990, I remember Jungle Jim’s, Rax and Goodings….
Rax. There's one I forgot I missed, best milkshakes of a chain restaurant. Little chocolate cookie in the whipped cream.
Very sad to see a small part of people's vacations gone forever including my own. Thank you Adam for this video
Brit here, and I find this video sad and depressing. Crossroads was perfect for me and the family when over in Orlando, and Goodings in particular. An expensive store but we just loved the variety it offered with the different products. Thanks for posting this.
That’s a bummer. Pirate mini golf was really fun. I’m glad I went when it was open
It’s a shame how that property has changed. I remember back in the day when it was just wooded area for a far as the eye could see. The old man who owned it had a dream about breeding, Palm Trees!!!
Maybe they will change the name to lone palm beach
Ah yes, old man Peabody. I had forgotten about him. Weird dude, always going on about an airplane with no wings crashing into his barn or some nonsense.
I would pay to see two palm trees going at it.
Goodings has always been Goodings. I shopped at Goodings when I lived at Vista Way in 1991.
LOVE the Jim Varney references! “Well there’s your problem right there Vern” 🤣 He was the best!
Thanks for the trip down memory lane. Used to work at that Goodings and drank my first legal beer at TGI Fridays in 1991
Hi Adam awesome vlog, however, so sad to see the crossroads are closing forever. So glad you enjoyed Disneyworld property.stay well and safe 👍🏻😎
Adam! I love the They Live t-shirt! Of course all your stories are addicting. I have loved your channel for so long.
But that T-shirt, that is so esoteric and insanely cool.
Stay safe, and being so entertaining! You are vital, and genuinely appreciated.
From the UK, used to visit Pirates Coves as a child with my parents, more recently visited as a parent with my children. Memories 😞Will be missed 😞
That Gooding's was a tourist trap. I remember buying some ridiculously overpriced sunscreen there at one point.
You needed you vaccinations to get into the vista hottub...*shudder*
That topiary at Taco Bell was a trademark bell!
Thanks for the walk-through of the property. I was a huge fan of Sweet Tomatoes. It's always great to see Micah.
“Don’t quote me on that.”
-Adam the Woo
Sad to see it go I remember hanging out with a Disney College program buddy of mine when I was doing the Disney College program back in the spring of 2004. Memories Nanny!
Damn - Literally drove 70 miles to go to that Fuddruckers multiple times.
We used to have one in Durham NC back in the late 90's but it's gone now.
We have one up here in WI & is indeed worth the journey! Hope this one can survive.
There isn't a Fuddruckers in Wi anymore
Thanks for making great videos been a fan for a long time👍
Thanks for sharing 🤩
Oh remember the crossroads ! Bye forever memories ❤️❤️
THEY LIVE! 🤘🏼"...and I'm all out of bubble gum"
I miss the Jungle Jim's restaurant that was there. Went there as a kid and even took my wife there during our honeymoon to Orlando in 2004. Good memories.
I spent many happy lunchtimes, dinner times, partying , shopping at crossroads 26 years ago when I lived at vista way, it was always so busy, sr535 has changed a heck of a lot, there was bother until crossroads apart from 7/11 across from vista way and if you walked the other direction there used to be a couple of gift shops ( tacky gift shops we used to call them)
I loved taking my kids to Johnny Rockets right by Goodings. We saw Tiger Chet Lemon while in Goodings! 🤩
