Today we took Mullet and McFlurry over to the drag strip for some testing. What we thought would be an easy night turned into a BATTLE! Neither car would cooperate and eventually Mullet just quit... but we didn't give up!

Please Please Please stop leaving all the random stuff in the car. A crash is bad a crash where you would have been fine but that screw driver slammed into your chest so you aren't is worse. We love you man Please clean the car up before you run 220+.
Was thinking the same thing when I saw that.
💯 percent agree with you... I don't like seeing stuff flying around in the cars as they make a pass...😖
I'm not disagreeing at all, but it may have been the dzeus fitting driver to remove the hood. The driver must have that in the car in case of a (small) fire/emergency after a run in the engine bay. An easy fix would be to get a, decent, quarter size magnet, stick it to one of the bars for the roll cage and attach said driver to said magnet. Can it still come off in the event of a crash? Possibly, but it would help and barely costs much.
@@JustBrewha55 so make a tiny strap that keeps the fitting driver in place so that it doesn't fly around or become dislodged in a crash.
😂 Cleet: “The wiring is sketchy.” Zach offscreen: “It’s bad!”. ☠️

These test and problem solving videos are what got me into your channel! So good to see you guys work at it and see the excitement in your faces once you figure it out. Hell yeah brother! Keep up the great work

That's no acting boy he was mad for real lol 😂
Yeaaa I was dying 😂😂😂

@@WestCoastWheelman "you dumb ass mother fucker" was for sure going through James's head lol
@@heathabshire8929 I re watched that clip 3 times lol.
I like Zach’s breakdown even though it’s what I do for a living. Chasing wiring issues on industrial machines can be a crazy task. It comes with amazing job security. Most can’t be bothered to learn it lol.
Retired EE here: yeah if wires are allowed to rub on Anything, they'll wear through, so you need wrap and/or padded clamps on all wire runs. One of the worst is letting stainless braided hose rub against Anything; it'll cut through like a slow saw due to vibration. Thread lock or Nyloc nuts on all hardware, or even safety wire on really critical stuff. *In short: build your race cars like aircraft.*
Great idea in treating the wiring like aircraft wiring. It’s not cheap but when you are going fast for a living, or at least trying to, going that last extra mile is a good idea.
@@Bill_N_ATX Yea, the wiring they showed in the video isn't great. There really shouldn't be any exposed wire without extra sheathing. There should be grommets going through panels. Actual motorsports wiring is overkill for this exact reason. Racecars will go through excessive vibration... bolts will vibrate out, solder joints will crack, wires will chafe, etc.
Safety wiring the bolts is a good idea, especially for bolts that prone to backing out and are critical to the operation of the car
Yeah people think of carbon fiber like plastic or fiberglass, but it will short out and or ground out like metal haha
Fun fact.. Carbon is also a great thermal conductor. Carvon fiber panels (depending on the way they are made) can be more thermally conductive than copper
Yup, this is a car with several hundred thousand dollars worth of parts, the wiring needs to match that level.
The look on little rips face just screams happiness, he knows he has the best dad and mother to raise him and a whole lot of amazing friends and uncles to show/ protect him, rock on little rip

Your videos really are a form of therapy for those of us who dream of doing this stuff but can't afford it. It's nice to see someone so humble and deserving of these opportunities. Never throwing it in our faces. Just taking us along for the ride.
Are we going to get any Sick Summer coverage here for us broke folks? Or is it only on FRDM+?
That's how he thanks his fans. Blocks us out of all of the events via a paywall... He will eventually put some kind of content up for us poor people, maybe by this weekend. I'm not hating, truly. I appreciate he's a successful businessman. But it's such a shitty thing to do to people
Normally he have a video of each day within a couple weeks but if he's still recovering from the month of freedom he may not. We will just have to wait and see. There's a few other car guys that do videos regularly too so you could check some of them out. Let me know if you need some names.
The look James gave Cleet when Cleet said “I did burnouts on these tires at Indy” was straight up Dad energy. The look a dad gives his kid when something stupid happened.
James slow blink about the tires is priceless.
35:19 Edge grommet is perfect in that situation. Keeps wires and hoses safe. Check McMaster for Heavy Duty High-Temperature Rubber Trim for that thicker carbon fiber panel. For sheet metal panels, check out their Heavy Duty Plastic Trim.
Jackstands disapproving Dad look is coming along well. Haha
Kill Switch looked like a 5 minute repair with a soldering iron and some small rosin core solder. Just scrape away the black solder mask from the burnt copper trace, melt a little solder on each end, lay a thin wire across it, solder over it. Then use some clear fingernail polish over it to protect it until a new unit arrives. Just be sure to not bridge over to an adjacent copper trace.
The disappointment on jackstands face at 26.00 is just great😂😂
Let’s hear it for that Steve Morris scratch n dent in Mullet! That thing is a beast!

I’m glad you posted. I’m about to lose it. I don’t have the right tools to cut this ptfe fuel line and I’m having the worst time doing this crap. I don’t have an angle grinder. I have never made fuel lines before so I didn’t expect to be this much work. They ptfe ward more difficult but I didn’t expect this. It’s alright. In less than 2 weeks I’ll have it all finished and blower installed
32 teeth hacksaw or an axe or a sharp chisel with a 5# hammer.
Cut off wheel and electrical tape
Dremel cut off wheel does it well.
Yeah cut off whee and tape is the best way. Listen to the guy above me.
What this guy said ^ A good swing of a decent axe will make a nice clean cut of almost anything. I often use it for 4/0 gauge wire as easier and quicker than cutters.
Cleetus should watch Steve Morris’s video on not using traction control like that.
That new tuner Rip put a bunch of stuff out of whack on mullet. He will get there.

Re: Zak, "Use Loctite on everything."
I'd suggest nylocks. They can be reused up to 20 x's, don't have to remember, prep clean or heat reactive, (will melt at temps above Loctite release temp: ruins them for re-use, but no failure).
Only downsides are cost & additional weight, (~50% heavier than normal nut).

Cleetus, have you never heard the term "Rode hard and put away wet"? It seemed like when you were doing that burnout thing with it, there was a "We'll fix it later" kind of vibe. Burnout cars for burnouts, drag cars for dragin'.
Quite a bit of assumption there. Cleet may make the odd mistake like forgetting to swap out the tires, but he knows infinitely more than yourself about the sport and looking after the cars. He has a pretty darn high level knowledge about the technicalities and certainly doesn't need to be told the basics.
