The sump pump GFI in a brand new home kept tripping. Water was spraying out of the pump rather than being pumped out.

Thank you. I had a similar issue, loose clamp, splashed plug, tripped fuse.

Wow who carpets around a sump pit? Seems like it could get moldy.

I just wonder if they also carpeted around the water heater and the HVAC furnace/air handler and the other stuff that you normally find in a basement.

Seen everything now. A box around the sump, with carpet.

Right! What were they thinking? I can see no reason to draw the water level so far below the floor. That pump is running way way more than it needs to. Almost like they used that pit for dewatering and then built the house around it. I would fill that crock with concrete to max 4 feet below the floor and raise the pump.

So it wasn't a GFI tripping, it was the water shorting out the receptacle. I know it probably depends on local code but I thought sump pumps didn't necessarily always have GFIs. Thanks, love you videos.

Man, it's like a well. They must be out of all the good lots over there in CO. No way I'd finish a basement that needed a sump that deep that ran that frequently. Nice video.
