I remember Danny tenaglia's most probably his first set in ibiza, september the 15th at the main room , inside Space, most of the local dj's went to see him like if they were going to see a master in their subject. ....I clearly remember how DT played from the first record till the Last a hipnotyc -dark-house-tribal-garage music which was envolving the hole crowd until the last track he played mixing "music is the answer " whith "elements " when he stopped the music (actually sasha did )the whole audience broke into an applause that lasted for three minutes catching the thousands of People gathered there in a spell that until today remained. ...Danny Tenaglia had a message for all us that Day that for a strange reason I cant explain in words but that my soul could understood.
There is something particular about when you listen to a Maestro on the booth. Its a weight, a density and a specific understanding of the dance floor. Once it starts you cant help but feel his spirit his work. its hard to describe or even understand for the uninitiated or unlearned but its as real as anything can be. I feel blessed to be a part of this beautiful scene. and to have witnessed greats like Danny play.
In the era of the opening DJ, I can’t tell you how many times my friends have turned to me and asked “has [the headliner] started yet?” And then say half an hour later, I hear a song drop and I just KNOW it’s the changing of the guard. I wish Danny had allowed a few more live sets to leak, particularly at Vinyl NYC. I have my memories, but it would be so cool to hear the golden age from one or two more perspectives.
Damn! I finally found this set again! Heard it on the day it was released here on RUclips. One of the best sets I've heard. Danny is an absolute legend.
I know this set is a few years old but I'm still impressed on how Danny stayed true to his style after all these years. His back2basics mix compilation in the early 2000s was a true representation to range of music and it still holds up to today standards.

Had the privilege of seeing Danny play a 7+ hour set in a secret local in Minneapolis a few days ago. I've only been going to parties here for a few years so I'm pretty fresh but that was the best set I've heard so far, period. Absolutely legendary and deserving of every respect. BE YOURSELF!
One of my favourite DJ's. I would love to see him live before i die if possible. Many a good hour in this World I have had a good dance to Master T's selection of tunes. LEGEND
Best Dj that ever lived, never seen the likes of him in all my years, been to NYC 4 times to see him in the early naughteis, Ibiza 6 times in the 90s.... Carl Cox had no answer to him. when they were on the same bill at Home in the late 90s... I had tix to see him in May in Manchester 😫😫 oh well just have to watch these vids on yt for now... long live the King of the Underground
I used to go to vinyl on Hubert street in NYC when he was the resident there... someone below posted that to hear him live is life changing, it truly is. one hour isn't enough... you have to catch Danny after 4 am... he takes you there believe me.
9am, the place in absolute darkness... Seal - killer/papa was a rolling stone at what felt like jumbo jet volume, coming from alternate speakers until the beat came in..
i was at the be yourself night at Vinyl too! man, i remember routinely walking out of there into the daylight and people going to breakfast or lunch, was just incredible there.
Juan Restrepo I would hit work in Jersey City, then Expo for a few hours and then Vinyl till about 9 am then a few hours sleep and then “Cafe Con Leche” at Expo and pray to God that DJ Merritt was spinning but always a good time at Vinyl and Cafe Con Leche!!! Kids nowadays are getting robbed!!!
much love from germany to each and everyone being part of this. regardless of actually being on the party and just listening to it now. celebrate and enjoy fellas

Loved Tenaglia for years... he kind of layed off of the tribal for a while though... but when I want tribal ( which is pretty much always) Tenaglia and Calderone deliver
Who else do you like for Tribal? Seems like it is getting lost these days as most DJs have gone more mainstream and or softer in their sound. Steve Aioki is not tribal and while he tries to be hard he's nowhere near the two masters you named. Been loving Tenaglia since he started long, long ago...
DT makes the bass blur your vision, he opens your mind, gives you those jigglin' eyes, wigglin' bodies, and shufflin' feet. From night to morning light, you are the music, dancing through space and time.
Being a massive Danny Tenaglia fan for over 15 years. The First set I saw him play was @ Space, Ibiza 2000, last was a couple of years ago in Leeds, UK. I feel like the guys still a legend, but perhaps he's lost abut of that energy he used to have and brought into his sets. The guy was untouchable, by far the best DJ in the world for around 7/8 years. He's a dj from the better times. You can see he struggles with all the lights/people around him. He needs a big dark room with about 2 lights and that's it 😎
true. I saw him in ibiza at space in 1999 and the hole club was surrounded by his sound for the hole set. he play the last record mixing "music is the answer "with "elements "after him sasha was following him, danny put down the music and for almost three minutes three thousand ppl absolutely blown down were clapping their hands like if it was the opera.that remembering will never leave me until my last moment.
Gary Bates I've been listening to his music since the beginning, never heard him live, cancelled twice in Liverpool 😢 but I would put him up there with Larry Levan and Frankie Knuckles, I still think he's one of the best out there, 👍🏻
I was there for this Boiler room, I think he may have played a more 'low key' set because the venue is very small and intimate.. Anyways, the energy there that night was amazing!
