    April 20, 2021
    Total Mileage: 5.4mi
    Total Elevation Gain: 1,391'
Skill: Moderate, it gets steep in spots but you never do any scrambling
For this hike I wanted to do something special, something that should have been on my radar a long time ago but went missed for whatever reasons.
I wanted to feature something new and unique for you all as well. I know I don't upload a ton and watching my subscriber numbers over the Winter months has told me one thing. You all are as loyal as any friend of mine would be and I owe it to you all. I lost a few, sure, but I've gained way more which is frankly a shock. For everyone that has recently subscribed, I can't thank you enough for the support. And just for everyone really, the support I've gotten over the years is immeasurable.
    -----------------
    Trailhead Coordinates: N41° 25.591' W73° 57.906'
From the parking lot, you are going to make your way along the Washburn Trail (White). Follow the gravel path to the quarry at the top. As you arrive at the top, note the trail to the right which is where you will be heading. There is a loop trail that goes around the quarry which has a few interesting things to check out.
From the quarry follow the White markers until you reach the summit of Bull Hill. You will cross an intersection with the Undercliff Trail (Yellow) about halfway to the summit. Yellow is the short loop hike and White is the long loop (the one I did).
You'll stay on White after the summit until you reach the intersection with the Notch Trail (Blue) and the Nelsonville Trail (Green). You will want to go left on Blue.
Stay on Blue until you reach the intersection with the the Brook Trail (Red). At this junction you'll be going left, but as you have seen or will see...go exploring the area to the right (stay on Blue to get up there). It is a must see!!!!
All done? Jump on Red and get to hiking! Stay on this until you reach the junction with the Cornish Trail (Blue). Bear left at the fork and take the Blue trail. As you head down the trail you will pass an old cistern with some pretty huge frogs in it.
You will pass by the greenhouse next and at this point you are now in the area of the mansion ruins just a bit further down the trail. Explore, explore, explore!! There is a ton to check out, a lot of which didn't even make into this video (the gazebo and pool are missing).
Once you are done just stay on Blue until you reach the trailhead. Congrats, you're done!
Safe travels my friends, thanks for watching!

Thank you brother, glad to see you enjoyed it! I had a lot of fun on this hike. It's been a long time since I've done something so unique so I really wanted to take my time shooting it. My goal was to show a lot but not too much so people can still get out there and find some cool things on their own. Have a great weekend!

Fantastic! Love the awesome state parks and the provincial parks here in Canada...always something to do and see and in interesting locations...best time to be out and about is the morning...just helps me enjoy the beginning of the day without a lot of people around...thanks for sharing your adventure and hope you are having a great weekend!

I couldn't agree more, I am definitely that guy that loves starting hikes when the Sun isn't up yet. Thank you for checking out the video, I had a lot of fun with this one. Hope your weekend is going great.

Just discovered your channel. Gread video and hike! I'm a local guy so I'll definitely be watching your videos. I'm also recovering from my 4th knee surgery, hiking isn't what it used to be for me 😒 thanks for the virtual one I just went on!

Thank you for checking it out, I'm glad you enjoyed the virtual hike! I have quite a few local hikes I'm going to do this season so hopefully I'll have another one up soon. So far I've been lucky and I haven't needed knee surgery but they have definitely taken a beating these past few years. I'm sure at some point I'm going to need to cross that bridge as well.

Watching but pausing a minute. Just wanted to say if you haven't done "West Kill" in the Catskills I highly recommend. My opinion it's the best view in the Catskills from Buck Ridge Lookout near the summit. El. is 3,880ft and 6th tallest in Catskills. I solo climbed it in 2017 during fall and was epic. It's not as popular as the other 2 you mentioned and you'll see less people for sure. It's my favorite trail besides Wittenberg. Good luck.

I am going to look into it. I'm trying to get up there next weekend and want to do a couple of hikes while I'm there. Gonna give you a big shoutout if I do it!

You definitely have to, walking around the area your mind kind of fills in all the gaps. Truly a unique experience.

Happy birthday dude. Would love to see some Catskills content I go up there all the time. Who messed up your bumper?

    • @capsoutdoors
      @capsoutdoors  3 года назад +1

Thank you! There is the slight possibility I am going to get up there Sunday evening so we will see how that goes. The bumper, my poor Jeep...I got rear-ended about a year and a half ago in a snowstorm. Gives it some character, LOL!

@@jpop914 It was initials to a name, someone I used to hike with 15 years ago that also lived in town (and we worked in WP together). So, taking the letter of your account name and you mentioning WP, I believe I know who this is now.
