this is why, no matter what I want to do, if I see a hunter going against blackveil vaal hazak, I put on my anti-vaal gear and help them out. Blightproof, effluvium-proof, stunproof, max health, fire damage, fire hammer.
@don't wait till its to late You have to do the siege version, not the recon one, of the quest and you have to kill it. Gather a team and take him down. Once you do, you can select a few weapons to take as a reward so choose wisely.

Fun little tip for any longsword users out there. Whenever Vaal Hazak is in its roar animation or gathering up effluvium, you can use the Iai Slash without penalty. Good, cheap damage there, especially if you have time to chain a helm splitter afterwards.
True, don't have to get close to him I went on a Vaal hunt and I thought I put my miasma jewels in because I was using a heavy bowgun and I only got hit at the end until I realized I had no miasma jewels.

Purple Haze Dragon should be easy in theory. In practice, though, all the places you can fight him are so claustrophobic that you're fighting the map more that Brap Boy.
Wearing any mantle causes you to not take damage from the natural miasma in the rotten vale. An Immunity mantle would keep you from getting/recover your miasma health debuff just by putting it on. Also, Immunity Mantle has a Lv3deco slot. Can put a Phoenix gem there to get an attack boost for just putting the mantle on.
i failed a 20 minutes quest one time because I took the last 10 minutes chasing down my prey, every time I arrive at a room, it immediately ran away, good times

@IChaseI There's a special Event Variant of Blackveil that ignores it, Reg Blackveil is still simplified by it.
Blackveil is just Unexpectedly Hard if you don't know how he attacks, and given how rarely he is Hunted I'm Guessing not many know how he attacks.
Weird, I farmed him on the regular. He's easy with the full anti-miasma skill/gems.
