I’m starting my journey. My last root touch up was a month ago. I’m sick of dying my hair every 2-3 weeks. It bothers my scalp. I have seen so many women change to gray and it’s gorgeous. I am trying to simplify my life. I am so excited.

tired of coloring my hair and noticing hair color was damaging it alot and i was having alot of hair fall out because of it. When I saw my hair was pure white I was elated and joyful of my new snowy white hair color. I felt like a queen lol Being an artist myself I started thinking of all the fun I could have with this new hair and i enjoy the freedom of not having to use dye anymore and kind of feel like a rebel going against what society tells me I should be doing although Ive never been a follower to begin with lol Im gonna Rock this white hair like a Boss 😀

I think it takes a bit of a rebel spirit to against the grain and choose to be bold, like you said. I'm so excited to see your grow out process & yes grey really is SO beautiful. This will be my second round growing it out, still deciding when to start but I know without a shadow of a doubt I will. Being locked into constantly coloring just plain sucks and thinking a little deeper into it I ask why have I been covering it and what other aspects of myself am I keeping hidden away. The first time I stopped coloring was in ~2017 and lasted until 2 yrs ago when I changed my mind. I just needed to tap out of the game and get it together after those couple hard yrs we all experienced, but now I'm ready again and with SO MANY women doing it now it'll be a different experience. I'm 43 with about 30% grey, this journey requires a mind shift and being prepared for all that it entails. ⚡✨

I decided that I wouldn't dye my hair since I was a teenager. I saw my mom do it, and I didn't like the fact that society was/is promoting that kind of beauty, beauty of not embracing a natural look (starting to change, though). When we look at magazines, Instagram, etc. it is all pictures of perfect skin, perfect hair, perfect everything... which is not the reality. And that is my why. Not conforming to the beauty society wants me to be, but be the beauty I want to be, no matter what that means. As long as it's you.
    Thanks for sharing your process!

Like you, i saw so many other women who'd gone gray (many of them during the quarantine but i wasn't ready then, but what a missed opportunity!) and their hair just looks stunning. Also, chasing the line got really tiring. It got to the point where it needed to be dyed every 3 weeks and i just couldn't do that anymore. I'm in my 5th month of no dye, my hair is the healthiest it's been in years. I can't wait to see it all grown out. I'm 57 btw, it's time and i'm ready now.

Embracing more of a simple life--it's not even the expense, since my youngest daughter is a cosmetologist and just colors my hair for me at my house, making it very cheap! I've just decided that it would be so much more simple to let my pretty silver shine! I'm a bit of a rebel as well--heavily tattooed and basically don't care what people think. I think going gray is bad ass!! 😊❤

After losing all my hair to chemo, now that it's growing back in looking very grey, I'm very curious how my natural hair will look when it grows out more. Right now it's about a short pixi and looks beautiful so far. Maybe I'm overly excited by just having hair again. But that's not all. I really think the color is pretty. Plus I asked myself do I REALLY want to put cancer causing chemicals on my head to soak in every four weeks again??? My answer is a definite no way! So I'm going to be rocking my grey! Can't wait for it to grow out more so I can really see my Grey's good!

I've lost 1/4th. of my hair since Covid 3 months ago even when I was letting it go natural of 3 1/2 months a few times. if I didn't have an identical twin it would be easier for me to go silver and we spend a lot of time together. keep up your journey I'll be watching. :)

I never thought about going grey before 2023. I loved my henna hair and that the grey hair is more red then the rest of my darkhair. But it’s a procedure and when I saw that I have more
grey hair now In the skunkline I went obsessed with the skunkline. Curious about what my outgrow would look like. Then I saw all pictures of silver sisters 😍 Last dying was 31/1-23 and I made the decision in February that this was the last time. I thought about it in January but dyed it anyway. Was not sure about going grey at once.

My motivation was not related to aesthetics. I always had weak, frizzy, sparse hair, dyeing somehow helped me control this ugliness ;) Now I have weak and gray hair, and the bun with the rest of the dyed hair looks like shit in the winter forest (what textures, what colors!;) on my head. But was feeling so bored, tired, terrorized by dyeing that there was only one way out. It was not aesthetics that put me on this path and it is not aesthetics that will turn me back.

I discovered my first grey when I was 18. I kind of knew that I was going to become grey young because my dad was grey aged 20. I put up with unsolicited advice to get rid of my supposed "frumpiness" until I was 34.
Before that, I chopped off my hair at 26 because it looked like a tumbleweed (I knew it was wavy, but I had no idea how to keep it under control and I wasn't willing to flat-iron it every day), so I went through a series of different short haircuts before its time (I'm Chilean and having short hair wasn't a popular thing in those days). I had pixies, bobs with undercuts, asymmetric, etc. So at 34, I decided that if I was going to dye it, I had to choose unrealistic colours: red, blue, purple, orange. I realised during the pandemic that I had a lot more grey roots than before I dyed my hair and it was impossible to have an appointment, but I wasn't ready to quit.
Last year we moved cities and I left my hairdresser of over a decade behind and that was the push I needed. I didn't want to go through different hairdressers ruining my hair that took me 4 years to grow properly. So here I am at the 8-month mark.

I am free to be me 100% natural. I would like all hair color to vanish of the earth then we could see all the true beauty of hair on each person that God has created. Instead we have all look a likes. I never got compliments on my hair when I was coloring my hair. Now that I’ve been natural for years, I get compliments all the time on my hair. You will be so full of joy because you will be so free to be the beautiful unique you that God has created. I only wish I would of felt this way earlier in my life. I actually hurt in my heart for woman who are in bondage to coloring there hair. I’m talking they are trying to stay younger by coloring hair that’s really just an illusion. Really when you go natural I feel like you look younger because that’s the color that looks the best with your skin tone. FREEDOM
