MYSTIC DEFENDER was one of three games I rented in the summer of 1990, all of which made for one of the most memorable weekends of my life. Though relatively obscure in the video game world, this manga-based adaptation featured extraordinary art, mystical combat mechanics, spine-tingling enemies, and of course, a rocking soundtrack that I've always loved. For this project, I stripped out all the layers of the song and ran them through a proper regimen of EQing, balancing and mastering. I've also added stereo effects to certain elements of each song - tastefully - so as not to take too many liberties with the existing source material. The objective was to widen out the sound palette and create a more engaging and rousing score.
Nice to see this one getting some much needed love! Love how well this remaster captures the atmosphere of the game and makes it feel new (sidenote - the prequel on sega master system is one of my favorite games of all time)

Wow! What a blast from the past. Remember I had this as a kid. What I didn't remember was that the soundtrack was so awesome! Well done!
Stage 3-6 were always my favorite. I still break out this cartridge.
