Buddy i love this! Looks amazing!! Your videos have helped me so much. I have the Meta R3 cause floorstanders don't fit and was thinking of buying 6 of these for front height, sides and rear surround. Your video has cemented my decision. I think this was MUCH smarter than buying R8. The price difference is astronomical and I sincerely doubt that the sound difference matches. They are just surrounds. Even when you look at the specs they are very close. The price difference is crazy so you made the right decision in my opinion and I'm going to follow suit. Thanks again.
I don't think it was a bad decision. Unless you listen to music in all stereo often. The backs will only play atmospheric sounds (not atmos but atmospheric/secondary sounds) so no need to go all out on speakers.
I've always use this trick of the trade in the back where the key holes are you take two Q-tips break them in half put them in the keyholes where they would be put black mark magic marker on them and when you press it against the wall make sure it's level and when you pull off you have two perfect marking where to put the screws
Hey dude, Greetings from the 🇬🇧, I just ordered a pair of these to replace my Dali Zensor 1's for front height. I will now be all Kef ( R700, R200c, R500, R100, R400b) Thanks for your great videos. Q50a should be here next week. 👍
You could still get the R8a for $650 a pair. I bought two sets. Also, the manual says they should be mounted 2' above ear height. They should move up. Small tip to hide wires - drill a 1" hole behind the speaker and another at the base. Then use fish tape to fish the wire through the wall. It will hide the wires. Also, don't use banana plugs. They stick out the wrong way.
@@Kpaceguy Gotcha. I saved on the fronts and subs by getting the R7s open-box for $650 each and the KF92s for $1500 each. All-in 7.2 was $6500, which I think is a pretty insane deal.
Hello friend... I would like your opinion... from what I understand you have R line fronts and have mounted surrounds like the Q line... that's exactly what I intend to do... I have my R line fronts and I want to mount them 4 surrounds Q350 and 4 Atmos Q50A... do you think there is a difference in timbre from the front to the surrounds and atmos? Thank you very much in advance
Nope, same tweeter and same size enclosure as thr q50a. You literally cannot hear a difference in tone just a difference in overall volume level and frequency response
Would love a video on your speaker journey and what drove you to go from Polk LSIM to Cantons and now KEFS(maybe you had others in middle of these but I dont remember).
Thanks for the video but sorry for being so blunt but this is very bad speaker placement. If you're sitting in the right chair there, your ears will be completely off-axis to that left rear speaker. Every single speaker must be on axis to all possible seating positions. I would recommend you use these as height-speakers instead, and buy some bookshelf speakers as your rear speaker and use a wall mount so that you can angle them towards the listener.
@Niberspace they should be pointed in your direction. But they are surround sound speakers. It's more important that they are closer to ear level. If i was to plave them how you want them it would be too high and too close to the almost speaker and the Bookshelves speakers would stick out and be too close to my head.
Most audio guys will tell you no trim should be much past "0". But I personally can't hear it unless it's in the positives range. It really just depends how far away they are in the ceiling from you or if they're placed on top of speakers.
I'm sure these are great speakers but with the top speaker binding posts you would see it on my wall and I would hate that I have the q250 center channel and I have q150 left and right and q150 high channels in the front but I would never buy these because of the price way too overpriced for what they are
@@Kpaceguy were you wondering to mount them horizontally so they can point more at the listening position? I need to figure out how to mount them this way, just like I had a fun time mounting another pair of these to the ceiling😅😅😅
Terrible design if they're putting the inputs on top of the speaker like that that's only good if you're putting it high to the ceiling and trying to hide it
Been using my Kef r8a’s for about four years now still sounding great
I really like the R series.. Those for the rear are good enough in Q Series. Great looking speakers.
Congratulations on the new KEF speakers . Looking forward to the full review.

I appreciate it my friend
Now I just need to find a top middle atmos set of speakers. 😅
Great addition/replacement. Just wondering will you rerun your room correction software to dial in the sound?
Sure will
Good move Kool!! I did the same thing with the Klipsch RP-500sa’s. I use them as my front height’s & side & rear’s! Enjoy!!

I saw the $650 but ended up getting these for half of that. And yes I usually recline the chair a bit and it ends up being just the right height

Definitely an upgrade I bet you will enjoy more movies now. And do you have a Apple TV?
I don't
Great idea but I couldn't live with the speaker binding post on top. I use dipole dipole speakers for mine

Funny you say that because I was considering buying the Bookshelves again. 703s

Could you operate them upside down snd remove the KeF logo with heat / toothfloss?
they are designed to make it impossible to ceiling mount, typical Brittish engineering. (but I'm going to try anyway)
