How to make Quiche w/ Homemade Crust!

  • Ingredients:
    1 1/2 cups all purpose flour
    1/2 teaspoon salt
    7 eggs, divided
    1 Tbsp cold water
    1 stick butter, chilled, cubed
    3/4 cup milk (of choice)
    Seasonings of choice (we used salt, pepper, garlic powder, and oregano)
    1 red bell pepper
    1/2 cup diced onion
    2 cups spinach
    1 tomato, diced
    1 cup shredded cheese (of choice)
    Directions:
    1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F
    2. In food processor pulse together flour and salt, and add cubed butter and blend until it forms a crumble texture. Add egg mixture and mix until dough forms into a ball
    3. Add flour to surface to roll dough and roll into about 1/2 inch thickness (if you have dough remaining you can make mini quiche with ramekins) Lay dough on pie dish, press down the sides, and slice off any dough hanging off the edges.
    4. Place tinfoil or parchment paper in center of pie and add dried beans to weigh down dough while it is baking. Place in oven and bake for 10 minutes
    5. While dough is baking, add 2 teaspoons oil to a pan and sauté onions and bell peppers. After 3-4 minutes add spinach and tomato and cook until spinach is wilted- set aside
    6. Whisk together eggs, milk, and seasonings. Set aside
    7. Once dough is done, add vegetables, eggs, and cheese into pie dish and stir to combine. Bake in 350 degree oven for 40 minutes.
