An idea to work with the over pour could be a pumping truck parked next to the pond with a crew trying to tackle a blockage in a sluice? Just a random idea I thought of. 😂 I like the water effect though! A load of rushes around the litter (where litter gets caught) would look great!
As others have said just make the area look like it is flooded. It fits that the bridge is hardly above the water as well, the bridge weathering looks great Fantastic views of the Red Bank and 9f.
Water feature and rusty girderwork look brilliant!👍 Perhaps if the water level really concerns, then raising the shoulder of the ballasting locally, may trick the eye into belief that the water is actually lower than it is.😊
Another cracking video Simon. Love watching the mgr trains, it must take ages to couple them all up. I have a small O gauge layout and struggle to couple them up and uncouple them. Very frustrating 🤬
It’s a good point it takes 20/30 mins to couple them up. I’m experimenting with small versions of the Hornby coupling for this reason - not as realistic but it will save hours ! Thanks for watching. Simon
Brilliant once again, Simon. For the stagnant pond which has burst its banks, could you just build up the ground between the pond and the track? Looking forward to the next video!
Simon...look after yourself......and yes...if the cold gets into your basement its bad....and it stayes then for quite a bit....nothing like to have some heating...!...cheers from germany....
Maybe brush paint some matt varnish onto the non-submerged parts of the bicycle, gate etc to take the shine off? Fantastic videos and the detail you achieve is incredible. Thanks.
Hello for Canada my friend I love how the layout is progressing. I had an idea. For the water feature your un happy with the level. Maybe use sculpt a mold like paper mache stuff but with plaster. Anyways you can shape the ground from nothing by the tracks and grade up to a few cm by the waters edge and then you will have a bank and make it look lower than the tracks with some static grass and weeds ect. Like you were. This will give you the bank edge your after.
Thank you! Great idea! On a different note I’d love to model CP or CN in the Rockies. You’ve got sone fantastic scenery over there. Thank you for watching and best regards. Simon
Absolutely Simon you have all kinds of landscapes to choose from modeling over here. I'm doing industrial ho scale love this layout and where it's going
Hi Simon. You could put a fence, trees and bushes into the water so it looks like water has flooded the area. I don’t think I’ve ever seen anyone model a flood before and with your bridge a few mm above the water I think it would look affective.
Don’t you think the girder bridge is too low and virtually in the water ? Surly the bridge should be supported a little higher. Always look forward to your updates. Regards John
Cheers John. Originally I did think this but was forwarded some pics of bridges just a few feet above water so hopefully I’ll get away with it! Thanks for your support. Simon
You could easily claim artistic license and say there has been a lot of rain causing near flooding conditions. Once you put some static grass around it, it will look brilliant. Topping up those other water features just reinforces the near flooding storyline.
Amazing layout fantastically realistic, much more so than the other large layout we keep seeing. Looking forward to seeing next weeks progress.
Thanks for your positive comments & very best regards. Simon
Love the big water feature, looks very realistic
Thanks Chris 👍

Great idea thanks 👍
Hope you get well soon Simon, the girder bridge looks really impressive sitting over the stagnant pond..
Cheers David much appreciated & thanks for watching
Everyone is entitled to be ill at times, so hopefully progress soon. All the best for this year and I'm looking forward to the next video.
Thanks Stephen & thanks for your support. Best regards.
More great progress, even with happy accidents. Get well soon 👍😊🙏🤞✌️😊
Thanks all the best! Simon
I think it is going very well so keep up your strength and stay warm. Jersey Bill
Thanks Bill 👍
Very Cool! Merci du partage! Stéph.
Merci Beaucoup! Simon
Good luck with the track. Glad the cold is better! No dribbling on the layout helps!
It definitely does! All the best! Simon
❤ Love your 2-10-0 loco 😊
I think the 9F’s were the steam equivalent of ‘Grids’
Cheers. Simon
Coming along nicely. Be great to see those cooling towers in situ 😁
You will next week! Thanks for watching! Simon

Yea I’m going to experiment with exactly that. Thanks for watching! Simon

I love the Tesco bags!
Yea especially the fact it’s the 1980’s print/logo!
Cheers. Simon

Yes I’m going to be doing that Richard. All the best! Simon
Hi Simon, Glad you are feeling better.
The girder bridge looks superb.
Perhaps a future episode could show how you weather this….
Colin.
Good point I’ll cover this soon!
Best regards. Simon

Yes it’ll take ages to get warmer but not to worry 😊
Thanks for watching 👍

That’s a great idea! I’d never thought of that but a great suggestion. Thanks.! Simon
Once again your water feature is bang on the money. Disgusting looking, and therefore accurate!
Ha thanks for that ! 👍Almost the best. Simon

It's a shame you couldn't do the Leeds new line. 😊😊😊
I’d love to do that!

That’s a bloody great idea! Thanks Chris. All the best!
@ looking forward to seeing what you decide to do in your next video
I would love to see a night scene with a Deltic hauled sleeper...
Now you’ve got me thinking!
That flooded pond looks quite prototypical. Poorly maintained drains and a wet winter quite often causes localized flooding.
I’m hoping that’s the case I’m just annoyed I over did it!
Best regards. Simon

Yea this is what I’m going to have to do. Thanks for watching! Best regards. Simon
Which scale ?
O Gauge
brilliant water feature look fine just put a small embankment rail side atb
Yes I’ll do that thanks for the suggestion
Best. Simon
