I feel like I've started to watch these videos as a coping mechanism. When I click on one of these recovery videos I feel a sense of calmness wash over me. I feel like a lot of the guests on this channel come off as very accepting and loving despite what actions a person may have done in the past or thinks they may do. I feel like this type of unconditional acceptance is hard to find in 99.9% of the world so coming here I feel a sense of much needed peace. I wish I could feel like this always.

You guys are so amazing. The professional community of psychologist, NOCD and all only understand the tip of the iceberg, only the symptoms. You go to that level which really helps to embrace all sensations and makes someone INTERNALLY WILLING to have any sensations. This is so so amazing.

    Certainty doesn't exist.
"Maybe, maybe not" allows you to embrace the uncertainty. Even to your worst case scenario...
What about: Maybe I'll stuck with sensorimotor and these sensations for the rest of my life...
In the end ocd recovery has one goal, that you don't care and habituate to your core fears.

Exposure works on probability that what you fear will happen. And it also works on fear of fear. But it does not work if the probability of the worst case scenario is high (or works but not well or quickly).

Hey Zygzak. Exposure only partially works on fear of fear - but doesn't touch the possibility of being stuck forever, the belief holds more weight there.

How do i go about accepting a worse case scenario with self harm ocd. I feel like I'm getting better and the thoughts don't bother me quite as much but that alone scares me too.

Accepting worse case scenario or accepting worse case scenario is a possibility?

    • @aguywhohikes1271

Accepting that even if our worst case scenario became a reality it wouldn't be 100% horrendous as we'd imagine.

You and Rob mention stoicism a lot. Do you have any videos on stoicism applied to ocd?

Ellis’s work is built off stoicism and we cover him all the time so you will find many videos on this channel drawing knowledge from that.

I would also recommend watching/listening to chapter by chapter overviews of Marcus Aurelius' Meditations (since the original book is quite dense and written in old English but you can give that a go if you like that kind of stuff).
