Essential Things to Memorize Before AF BMT

  • Sometimes during BMT, your MTI may randomly select 10 unlucky trainees to get in a straight line and pull out their 341s. Your MTI will then continue to walk down this line and ask you several different questions from your study work- and you better know them! If you don't then you'll be...uhh... in a pretty bad situation lol. SO! What do you do? You memorize that stuff before you even get there.
This isn't a complete list of things you should memorize- and if you don't memorize them, then you should still be able to graduate with no probelemo. However! It will help you if you memorize them.
    M-16 A2 Weapon Safety Rules
    1. What is the maximum range? 3938 yards or 3600 meters.
    2. What is the maximum effective range of a point target? 602 yards or 550 meters.
    3. What are the three settings the selector lever can be set at? Safe, semi-automatic, and automatic (3-round bursts).
    4. What is the first step in weapon disassembly when field stripping? Clear the rifle.
    5. What are the four cleaning groups? Barrel, Upper Receiver, Bolt Carrier Group, and Lower Receiver.
    6. What houses the rear sight and any optical devices? Carrying handle.
    7. If your weapon fails to fire, what ACRONYM is used for immediate action procedures? SPORTS (slap, pull, observe, release, tap, squeeze/shoot).
    8. Identify 3 of 7 weapon safety rules.
Do not point your muzzle at anything you are not willing to shoot, injure, or damage. [Quickest way to get yelled at by an MTI.]
Treat all weapons as if they are loaded.
    Horseplay is not tolerated.
Handle the weapon only when told to do so.
Keep your finger off the trigger until your weapon is on target. [This is HUGE at BEAST - your finger will be up, almost at a diagonal, overemphasizing that it's nowhere near the trigger.]
Never get ahead of the instructor. [Never mind how much experience you have - wait.]
Always ask questions if you do not understand.

I said "reporting" to my recruiter when he told me to give him a reporting statement. Keep I'm mind that I got weather for my afsc.
    He replied,
"What are you reporting, the weather!"
I'm confused, so I repond with "Yes sir!"
He almost threw his hat at me.

Anthony Casali I failed out of Weather. Got reclassed to Finance. I love Finance but hated Weather lol my advice is to study every day and ask questions in class when you don’t understand. The Weather course is not for everyone but it may be for you!

As for military time, once afternoon strikes start subtracting 2 and taking away the 1. from the **:00 time. Ex: 17:00 - 2:00 = 5:00PM. 19:00 - 2 = 17:00, take away the 1 and it is 7:00PM. Just remember "Minus 2, take away the one" and you will never be confused about military time.

    20:00-2 =(1)8 or 8pm (10-2=8)

Two part question. Say you go into the Air Force as E-3, does that take effect in tech school? or once you reach operational Air Force. Part two, When do you sign 4 vs 6 years? I havn't talked to my recruiter about it yet, and already heading to MEPs in two weeks. I assume it's when you swear in that you decide on the contract length?

    • @WildBlueYonder
      @WildBlueYonder  9 лет назад

runek12 If you sign up as an E-3 (meaning you earn E-3 after completion of BMT) then you can wear your stripes during your BMT graduation onwards. They'll allow you to sew on your stripes onto two of your shirts, but you won't be able to wear them until your Pass in Review.

eri palacios Very interesting question, I never think about sunscreen... For obvious reasons hahaha
Actually, prevention of sunburn is a high priority at BMT. You can bring your own sunscreen, but you won't need it. Every flight is supplied with multiple free communal bottles of sunscreen- we had to share them among ourselves. Our MTI assigned a few people in our flight to be responsible for ensuring everyone had sunscreen, and for them to replenish our supply when it was low. If you would like to have your own individual sunscreen, then it is available for purchase at the BX.

To pass the CLAW Mission everyone in your group must pass as a group so teamwork is needed. The old obstacle course is now closed as of Oct 2014.

R O N I N be careful and don’t say anything regrettable about your future boss online. It’s best to refrain from expressing political/government opinions or statements. I’m shipping out on April 16th and I wish you the best of luck!
