I worked with rich and poor customers. On average, rich are nice and friendliest. Poor are worst, most demanding, difficult and they are already getting discounts or don't pay what the rich are for about same product or lower level tier but still good quality product.
Karen syndrome, and kids who never didn't get a participation trophy and grew up in a culture of complete entitlement. Failure is good for children, and learning that the world doesn't revolve around them early is important.
On my old channel (now deleted), I used to make drawing videos and took free art requests. I learned the hard way how much of a mistake that was. I wasn't threatened or anything, but their attitude made me not want to draw. When I complained about it, someone correctly pointed out to me that I'm not obligated to give out free art and I was causing my own suffering.
Imo that sucks. When I joined at forms I was always glad when an artist would pick my avatar(an OC) to draw for free. I always accepted whatever it was and proudly displayed their works on my signature. Even the "joke"ones because it's was for free they could have chosen someone else but I'm always happy to receive free art when possibl Always the bad actors gotta ruin stuff for people
As crazy as it sounds... This is actually also an issue for fanfic writers! We fanfic writers wrote whole novels and release them for free. And then there's usually that one person or a few saying. "You should do that, and this, and that. Write that for me!" And they make it into a demand we should write what they want... I always respond. "Sounds like a fun idea. I hope you have fun writing it. Goodbye." I really do write for my own amusement... now if these people were willing to PAY me, then I would listen. But they are not so njah... njah... I legit started to write because there was a story I wanted to read that didn't exist. If I can do it, so can they.
If you’re getting anything for free, you should be happy you’re getting anything at all. The right to complain costs money, so anyone being an ingrate about their free stuff should be charged the next time around and be ignored if they won’t pay.
There's a saying one of my professors told me during my final portfolio interview that I wish I had listened to more "He who pays least complains most." It has always proven itself true.
You want to know why AI is becoming more prevalent in the creative field? The AI is not a better artist than those on Twitter, but the AI is, however, a better _person_ than those in Twitter. Say all you want, show me an AI (even Neuro-Sama) that would be this toxic to an artist.
That’s pretty much where I stand. There’s a nonnegligible number of people who have been mistreated and sometimes emotionally manipulated by artists they’ve hired. Those people are now clientele of AI art.
there's an annoying amount of random comments calling stuff "AI generated" for no reason. i was listening to a short that had some music from a Dance with the Dead album, and one of the three comments was someone accusing it of being AI generated. fucks sake some people even called JFJ's 'gun autism' series AI.
I feel like loads of these jumping on the gun saying. "A.I." are people who are incredibly jealous. They wish they could make art or music like that, so they won't believe other people actually can. They'd rather tear them down instead of remotely considering it could be possible.
Yeah it is ridiculous that they are unjustly accusing an artist's art being AI generated. I am (to a point) disproving AI generated art but it does not take that much effort to figure out if it is AI generated or not. It has a certain texture and art style and it looks similar to CGI, the art in question is obviously pencil drawn!
@@Soundwave142I can mainly tell AI art from the lighting and shading looking off or far more intense than an actual artist would have done. Twitter people are also very bad at understanding lighting so they easily are fooled.
Sean Schemmel got mad at the Goku Gaming guy for using AI. Turns out Goku Gaming is an impressionist- and British. Arguably, that's much worse than AI voice cloning
Remember when that Scooby do voice actress caused an uproar over A.I. Art. Then tried to get someone blacklisted only to be revealed that she herself is a major hypocrite?
AI doesn't draw poorly in general, it typically makes nonsensical mistakes, like doors to nowhere and other things related to non-logical hallucinations (obvious six fingers, double legs, etc). AI art right now is in the fever dream stage, where images appear normal at first glance but when you scrutinize it the hallucinations and "dream" of the images become evident. AI doesn't really make classic anatomical mistakes of an amateur artist. If a mistake can be explained logically, it's likely not AI. AI mistakes are illogical by nature as they're basically image autocompleted from hallucinated noise.
Right like I have amounted a collection of AI photos to mess with my sister when she’s on vacation next weekend. They are of her dog and I have images of him where I live since we were both left behind. Sometimes the AI gives the red heeler Labrador ears. It has no idea what a blue hen is and just turns a regular chicken blue. Sometimes the toes or the tail are incorrect. Scaling is also an issue if you put more than one thing in an image as I’ve tried to make an image with my mom’s yellow lab and the heeler ends up bigger. These aren’t rookie mistakes. They are stupid mistakes that make no sense.
I draw. Have made money off art, and I couldn't give a flying f about AI art generators. This is like when art software and digital art first started gaining traction, traditional artists were up in arms anyone could do art all of a sudden. A lot of fields have always been at risk of being replaced partially or entirely by automation and AI.
Seen those "We need to (unalive) AI 'artists'!" images with artist characters from varying ips "saying" those to get around the moderation? I have, and reported each one as a "call for violence".
I remember taking art classes in college...my fellow students were spiritually ugly. They were petty, envious, jealous, hoity, and greedy...it was a bad attitude convention with long lines. They totally destroyed my love of drawing and painting. It took me years to find joy in it again. I can imagine that attitudes have gotten better in thirty years.
An update about the Sailor Moon Subreddit mod, since I was following that immensely: This was not the first time the mod had shown such a power trip. They took over the sub and installed the automods that permaban you for participating in a "problematic subreddit" (used SaferBot and SafestBot, which in turn got replaced by a single automod called Hive Protector...name is ironic to say the least). Cue a ton of people getting banned for literally anything. They took over a ton of the magical girl subreddits and only jumped in whenever they could power trip over people. The apology didn't even do anything to quell the masses because the mod STILL thought the art was AI, and made it so once the mod made the decision of what was AI art - ironic given that the mod admitted they couldn't draw worth a lick - that the decision was final, and they didn't want to look at any proof since it could be faked, too. Especially when the original artist had more than enough proof to the contrary. Well, cue a few days later, after the heat was not letting up because the drama got covered immensely and things got uncovered about how the mod was power tripping all over to the point some that were using the r/sailormoon sub created an alternate sub because of how the LemonAid person (who is an alt of RockyCoon....I wish I was joking about the name) was running everything, LemonAid decided to resign, and I'll spare you all of that mess about the process of handing the reigns over, the owners of the alt Sailor Moon sub are now the new mods of the r/sailormoon sub, and what followed is a still ongoing process of unbanning the people caught in the mess that happened, and the autobots that banned people are no longer there. So it was that Sailor Moon fan renderer that caused a totalitarian regime on a sub to let go of the reigns. For the record, the new mods of r/sailormoon have so far been well liked, and it seems like they are well known on Reddit to be invested in the show and the genre and are much fairer than LemonAid ever was.
I love Sailor Moon. It’s one of my favorite shows and manga series. The fandom? Batshit crazy. The drama on Reddit did not surprise me in the least. I’m sorry for what happened to that artist, but I’m not surprised.
So the person railing the loudest against AI art was more than happy to use AI (mod bots) to do their job. Classic Reddit. Shame it happened to a SM sub.
It’s so sad. As someone who had a brain injury that caused me to have my mind in fragments I dread putting my art out there because of how some may perceive it as ai art.
I feel it, my right hand was severely injured so I use AI as a tool to help me with my linework. I still do touchups and color by hand. I need an accessability tool, otherwise I'd be deprived of being able to make art at all, but many people would condemn me for it anyway.
Ah yes, the irony of hating robots that imitate humanity to the point of hunting down actual humans for the slightest hint of imperfection... Remind me again why I'm supposed to side with the haters?
@ Because the whole reason that's happening is because those 'robots' (AI artists) are taking credit for artworks created by those same people; and the 'haters' you refer to are actually people having their efforts stolen and used to push them out of the market; requiring that, on top of every other concern an artist has about putting their art out there, trying to prove authorship of one's own work has become an artwork-by-artwork problem, instead of a frowned-upon, rare and legally actionable, case of recognised plagiarism.
Oh yeah, I saw that particular Witch Hunt Over AI unfolding with the user with the blue butterfly icon. She tried to milk the whole situation, lol, blew up spectacularly. AI Witch Hunts are super dumb.
Ah yes, the irony of hating robots that imitate humanity to the point of hunting down actual humans for the slightest hint of imperfection... Remind me again why I'm supposed to side with the haters?
AI suspicions are just another excuse for weird and toxic art people to be weird and toxic, sadly; and this is coming from someone who avoids AI whenever possible. For the bullies, if it wasn't this it would be skin tone or attractiveness policing, etc.
Much worse. This is the hysteria of a people who looked down on labor professions and told starving factory workers to "learn to code" after their jobs were take by robots. Welp. Some of those people did, and some of those doers made the OG AI code for models like Tay. Now the shrieking useless beasts are having an outright meltdown because they've found out that artists are more easily replaced by AI than plumbers. They're also finding out that no one gives a shit about their self appointed special person status: Most people are all too happy to play with this new technology and make AI generated images for their own purposes and play. They are freaking out for damn good reasons. They're being given a taste of their own medicine, they're being invalidated by the general public and their losing their monopoly over artistic expression. Their cries are the lullaby of hard working men.
@@conormccue2871 Oh, no doubt that's true for some of them. It seems like there's a strong atmosphere of elitism in many online art circles for sure; lots of people with hammer & sickles in their bio who'd grimace if they actually had to interact with a person working in the trades or labor, etc In my case as a Christian artist from a 99% blue collar family i can safely say i've never contributed to that weirdness but it's a meme/common sentiment that "God gave us AI tools in exchange for artists being annoying on Xitter" for a reason, lmao
@@razorgirl05There's a piercing irony to those people who have Soviet icons in their bios. Always they envision themselves as The People's Artist in their imaginary utopia, being lauded for their art and never needing to do anything else in order to survive. But they're the people who have never lived under communist tyranny. They wouldn't be allowed to live their lavish lazy lifestyle in a communist country. They'd be forced to do whatever manual labor the State assigned them to do, while the cushy art jobs would all be given to The Dear Leader's closest sycophants and family members.
@@BEN-o9l Artists want to be taken seriously, they want to be recognized, they want to be praised for the assumption of talent. This makes them vulnerable to an easily broken ego. Push them hard enough that the art they make is terrible and they stop. Stroke the ego enough and they will do anything for more attention. A good bully can praise them enough to get them working, and tear them down enough to have them give the work away just to prove people want their work.
As a 23yo, it's fairly common to see most artists today as scared and afraid of public perception because most of their "art career" relies on social media. They make most of their friends and connections on social media, so if they get canceled, it feels like they're getting ostracized in real life. It's likely why most artists online give up before they ever even come close to making a living from it.
@@basedanetto Back when I was younger, my art was bad due to using bases and a mouse to draw. (Never heard of drawing tablets at the time.) I wasn't afraid to post. Now because of everything being so overly sensitive and toxic, I am now even though I want to start back again.
Everything they dont like is automatically ai now. It happened almost overnight. It totally invalidates all their issues with AI when they cant even identify it properly.
This is why its good to do traditional art alongside digital. If you show a pic of a your sketchbook with your phone that will shut up clowns like this in an instant.
What makes you think clowns live in reality? You can have full video of you making the art, and the clowns will still claim it's AI because they just love hurting people and "dunking" on people.
Wrong. Just flat out wrong on all points. Art is art. It doesn't matter if it's "charcoal on cave wall" or a 3D render in blender. Stop being such a snob. Also, these people aren't trying to "protect" anything. They're just cruel people who witch-hunt AI art for fun. Trying to "prove" anything is seen as a sign of weakness and the best thing to do is to ignore them.

There will *always* be advancements and new technologies to be added to the creative toolbox. Revisit the classic, Singin’ in the Rain, to see how adding audio to movies impacted the silent screen actors and actresses who couldn’t or wouldn’t evolve to the “talkies.” Remember the advent of THX sound and the game-changer of CGI? SFX professionals had to evolve with and learn the new technology in their field. This witch-hunt for AI is absurd and reeks of insecurity.
AI is a tool. No different from photoshop, cameras, film, electronic keyboards, sewing machines, and any other advancement that improves quality, consistency, and workflow of artistic endeavors.
I am an illustrator. 100 years ago (1920's) the era was called "The roaring twenties". 100 years from now, history will look at this era and call it, "The whining twenties". There are artists out there that are against free art because they see it as a threat to their art business or status and have a "Joker" attitude towards it. "If you're good at something never do it for free". I don't quite have that attitude but you have to be selective what you will do for free. Donating free art to charity orgs is a good art philanthropy. Charities don't complain like the general public. To be an artist is to be critiqued, so go make a brew and have a cup of toughen the F up. What does everyone expect from a leftist cancel culture echochamber like Reddit anyway. I keep my art away from it. Great show guys.
In turn though, the free art also destroys the industry for those who have built their lives around their artwork. I think it should be used in tandem as a tool, but not a final thing. People want free stuff, yes, but in reality, nothing in this world is truly free.
@kitgoodyear9270 I remember once when I was young asking, I thought, very nicely for free art of my OC online. That was a mistake - I was dogpiled. My character's attributes were also attacked, with people sending me Wikipedia articles about how a 300 IQ wasn't realistic even though a ton of characters have unrealistically high IQ's. My character was in very early development too, so having people pick it apart like that was not fun. I even tried lowering my expectations, but the dogpiling continued. Finally, regrettably, I snapped, and went on an unhinged rant that I regret to this very day. I'm grown now, so I now know how to properly behave online, and that artists typically need to do paid commissions just to survive. But that experience forever tainted how I see artists subconsciously, now when I see a fellow artist, I look at them and immediately assume they have the same elitist, Joker esque attitude as the ones who dogpiled me for even daring to ask for free art all those years ago. Which isn't right. I regret that unhinged rant I went on, and to this day I'm too scared to log into that site again because I'm scared of what I'll find. I feel like with the idea that "the internet never forgets" will forever taint how people look at me in the future. I know that isn't true based on my own experience, but I always have that fear of being looked at as the next Chris Chan, even though my mistakes were nowhere NEAR that level. I've matured now, and next time I ask for art, it'll be when I have money to pay.
@ Wow, that's quite a story. I am sorry you got heaped on like that, especially about your character creation. Not nice at all. Don't worry about what you have said in the past. If you are able to go to that comment section and delete the rant, maybe that is something you can do. I have retracted statements from YT and other sites before, no one says anything about it. You sound like a writer and story creator or something like that. I understand how hard it is for you guys, art is not easy or cheap. I am lucky to be an artist first that writes stories meaning I can illustrate my own stuff. Not that any have gone anywhere, lol. Last time I did free art was for a phone game company just starting out. I did free art to get my name on the game credits, if my art was used. None ever was that I saw. Two things you can do. Open the old site and just see how things are or create a new site. What you have to remember is, none of these people know who you actually are or what you look like. They are enigmas, just like you and me. I am an older guy now in my late 50's so I have also learned to be thicker skinned, probably wouldn't be so tough to criticism when I was younger, haha. There is nothing wrong trying to get free art from the right person or people, you just have to be aware some can get upset easy and some look for an excuse to be upset. I wish you all the success in the future.
March of progress. Old jobs like "knocker ups" and "gas lighters" will go away with new technology. One of my favorite songs, is about the switch from traditional shoes, to an early 1800s shoe making machine. "In the days of eighteen and four Peg and awl! In the days of eighteen and four Peg and awl! In the days of eighteen and four I said I'd peg them shoes no more Throw away my pegs, my pegs, my pegs, my awl They've invented a new machine Peg and awl! They've invented a new machine Peg and awl! They've invented a new machine Prettiest little thing you ever seen Throw away my pegs, my pegs, my pegs, my awl Make one hundred pair to my one Peg and awl! Make one hundred pair to my one Peg and awl! Make one hundred pair to my one Peggin' shoes, it ain't no fun Throw away my pegs, my pegs, my pegs, my awl"
And the sad and scary part is, even if you do a video or even a livestream, people will still believe it is an AI generated of yourself drawing something. And you can't blame them because it is possible to AI animate yourselves. My older brother use it including myself did it multiple times where we generate a live like of ourselves.
Ah yes, the irony of hating robots that imitate humanity to the point of hunting down actual humans for the slightest hint of imperfection... Remind me again why I'm supposed to side with the haters?
@@ellugerdelacruz2555 Don't worry... people who are that negative are usually miserable in real life. Nothing anybody else can do could compare to the mess of an existence they have created around themselves.
@TwoDollarGararge Where exactly are you going with this? Because, if their faith (which I have done extensive research on) demands that they show kindness to hose that've wronged them then they will. Comparing those types to Artists isn't a good comparison. A more accurate comparison woul be when painters got all mad about photography being invented.
It says a LOT that 4chan has a HELL of a lot more respect and understanding in their request draw threads. Never had these kinds of problems there nor have I encountered this kind of drama. Although I have seen other kinds of drama now and then in those threads but that's a different story
As a graphics person who worked in government I can attest to one old adage “Why do it right the first time when you can do it over, and over, and over, and over…” Luckily I came from the public sector and had learned long ago to ask questions about projects.
Because their own art is so bad that they think anyone that is better has to be using AI, hallucinating AI artifacts instead of seeing it as a style choice. I use AI art a lot as a for fun thing to put pins in ideas for later. After 20k images, you see the pattern that AI does. Twitter doesn't see those patterns, and just are angry
One of the artists I support on Patreon was accused of doing AI art, because someone took a couple of their pieces put it through a detector. These detectors are terrible because always get it wrong due to AI using so many artists art for reference. People used that as “proof” even though they both stream them drawing, and also videos of the whole process. People will believe what they want to believe.
I'm not an artist, but i know people enough to tell you that if you give your work as a sample for free, whatever it is. There will always be an ingrate or two that complains about the quality of the gifted goods, in fact they are probably the same people that would complain about the quality of stolen goods.
As a lifetime artist, who now trains AI on their own work to speed up my workflow, I think many artists forget that every artists do art for different reasons, and with different methods. If you choose not to use AI to make art, that's fine, nothing wrong with that. But, to have the gall to try and cancel another artist because they "MIGHT" not make art the way you want them to is absolutely ridiculous. Not all of us, especially in the commercial sector have the luxury to "NOT" adapt to the new tools and software. At the end of the day, for a commercial artist the most important factor is whether the client/customer is happy with the delivered product. The average person doesn't care how their entertainment is made, only that it is enjoyable. Let the artists who want to use AI do their thing, you can continue to do yours without it. Otherwise this kind of tragedy is only going to continue to get worse unfortunately. That really sucks for the twitter user that left :(
My whole country is pushing for AI integration as part of making STEM as part of our culture. It's mostly for economical pupropses since they want foreign tech companies to set up shop here since we missed out on the manufacturing companies that found their home in China thanks to our last leader's blind hatred towards globalization. That said I welcome this new development because as a teacher I want future generations to be in the same levels as the rest of the world. Out of the jungle of Borneo and stepped into the world of AI and drones. You could say I'm hypocritical since I personally haven't used any AI tools, well not directly at least since I probably have AI components in my mobile devices that operates without me knowing like the camera and drawing apps. My family and friends do dabble with some form of AI like editing photos or memes on social media and some used ChatGPT for their homework and office work. I'm not against AI but I am a slow burner: I let new tech or trend mature first before diving deep into it. Yes, not an ideal attitude for a teacher to have but at the very least I keep myself aware.
Toxic social media has twisted people to the point where they actively create their own enemies and detractors. Anti-AI purists being one of those cases.
As someone with a severe hand injury its made it possible to remain in the industry. When using it as a tool you still need to do touch ups, and making anything good requires a solid understanding of art, so its just a tool. The ones complaining about productivity and accessability tools are rediculous.
Ah yes, the irony of hating robots that imitate humanity to the point of hunting down actual humans for the slightest hint of imperfection... Remind me again why I'm supposed to side with the haters?
That's what I've been saying this whole time. In the art industry, it's another tool to help artists. I've been argued against for so long because, if you do independent commissions for customers, you can use the AI to draw up potentials for you, the artist, to work with based on what the customer tells you what they want. It helps on a visual scale.
I've seen American anime fans complain to the actual character creators in Japan that their official drawings weren't good enough and maybe the artist should practice more. I tell you, I could NEVER be an artist and have to put up with these enttlitled little snotnose whiny brats. I would end up on the news. You folks who draw and paint or write have my deepest respect not just for your talent and skills but also because you have restraint to not go crazy.
When digital art came out some people didn’t consider it art at the time for it was a new medium. AI is just a new medium. Besides, if people think a banana peel in an art museum is art then anything goes.
People didn't think Pixar was legit back when it was starting up either. Some people just want to tear down others because it's easier than building things themselves.
People generally don't think the banana peel example is art. Which is how you're able to raise it as an example. AI isn't "just a new medium". It's the death of art. Sounds hyperbolic? If you're a really good traditional artist, the best you can now hope for from people who want traditional art is that they can distinguish you from AI. The best you can hope for from people who want AI art is that they can't. At least with digital art, the was a clear demarcation. With AI art, it brings the authorship of all art into question, traditional and digital alike.
I've been accused of posting AI generated images as my own art twice, never on Twitter, but once on Tumblr, and once on deviantart. People on these sites are garbage.
Ah yes. The "Art experts" of twitter. If it doesnt look right. Ai (Just like some saying a simalar thing with photos being "photoshop") I dont fully rely on the program(s) myself, but as a referance. (much like you using photos as such as well) But my work is still 100% mine. And as for the free offering. Yep. If they "need" (most times they dont need it as a rush). Then pay them for it. Also, those demanding free.. ya.. they dont need anything.
I’ve seen other upstart RUclips channels with a couple thousand followers go after you just as you described during the opening minutes of this video, Kneon.
lets be serious, the passion of art has sadly became the same passion of onlyfans. when its made easy to accsess and has been been took for granted arent gonna value it. the art comission is just the media version of a steak house steak or a fast food burger.
I can understand that no one wants to pay for something they could get themselves for free. However, when it's free from the artist, you've lost all right to act out. You already have 0 rights to act like Tumblr trash and art nazzis
You all need to know that this behavior exists, not because people are upset at AI Generated Art. Theyre using this as an excuse to eliminate thier competition, and the only people who want to eliminate their "neightbors" are the kinds who suck at drawing, so they want good artists gone to peddle their inferiority.
0:57 Yes. I saw an artist talk about this mess, and his actual suggestion was to record the drawing process. Like, WHY? Who are these art purists that believe they have god-given rights to determine what is approved art and what needs to be bullied out of internet? These selfrighteous crusaders of purity need to have their internet rights revoked until they learn to be decent human beings.
Even so some people may not want to be forced to record just to not be accused of hypothetical "art crimes". Plus I bet plenty of beginners draw on devices that aren't optimal for recording. The bullying is so dumb. Showing your layers is another option, but I remember back in the day some people would just merge them without thinking about the possibility of random drama like this and be accused of tracing because their line art is wobbly.
@iceprism367 Yes. And I say nobody should be forced to "prove" their art is theirs. No recoedings. No layers. No psd files. This crusade for purity is unacceptable.
I am a 2D artist and will be at Megacon next week...they see me draw the stuff..and still try to do the AI argument..AKA..they just lost their free drawing to the person behind them🎨
Thank you for this video. I have noticed that I have a hard time getting people to pay for my art because I've always posted it for free. I've lost much of my audience when I began to charge but now I know it's not my fault!
- NEVER do unpaid requests. - Always only do paid commissions. Be realistic about the prices. - If an artist does a fan art of your character(s), unbidden and so NOT a request, "NEVER look a gift horse in the mouth". - Do only as much as you are comfortable doing at any one time. Burnout is real. - "NEVER give the milk away for free." [Edit]- An artist has the absolute right to put YOU on THEIR black list. So, mind yourself. Other artists will see this and may black list you out of hand.
The moral of the story is to never give stuff away for free. People who get something for nothing have to reason to stop and consider what their request will cost them, but have every reason to be pushy and demanding to try and out-compete all the other freeloaders. If you only have so much time, only take so many commissions and then raise the price each time you get more. You'll be surprised how much your time is worth!
It seems like artists on Twitter (x) are going to be forced to take more images of the before, the in-between, and the after results for their artwork.
I swear some people react to AI the way vampires react to sunlight. My stance is this: I have absolutely no issue when people use AI just for fun or when an independent developer uses it for reference or placeholder or if they just cannot afford the added cost of hiring an art or graphics person. Game development is already rough enough for solo devs. Where is becomes problematic and inexcusable in my eyes is when a big corporation like Microsoft or Disney uses it cut corners. That’s lazy and terrible management. Honestly makes me wonder if they have a quota that forces the use of AI. Not too sure on people using it to make money on Patreon and whatnot, but at that point I think as long as the clients know and are ok with it then there shouldn’t be an issue. Honesty being the big factor there.
I support artists making art themselves. Even I know trying to witch hunt AI does more harm than the AI images themselves, hurting artists who happen to make paintings with texture blends.
Mediocre artists are upset that software is better than them. They've attached so much of their personality and ego into being a 'creative' that this is a huge blow to them, but really it's just exposing the truth about their abilities.
@paulw5039 Or... algorithms favouring quantity over quality and samey-looking AI artworks is crowding out artists of all skill levels, and creating the false impression that the demand for AI art is far higher than it actual is. Plus, there's a lot of art-theft within AI art creation, and a lack of disclosure that AI was used, meaning that even high-level traditional artists are being affected.
@ If AI art is poor quality and samey-looking, then any even moderately-skilled artist should be able to stand out as exceptional by comparison. Honestly, for forever art has been a haven for the unemployed bohemian types. They always could pretend that they're special because they're 'creative', rather than just being low talent, lazy and self-indulgent. AI art has exposed these people for what they are and the actual talented artists are still standing out.
Given how much it's hated the witchhunts will not stop any time soon. People are pissed and honestly, if it gets the corps to back off of AI then there is some good to come of this
The people screeching about AI art the loudest are just mad that free tools can do a better job than they can. If you have REAL talent, not "you won $100 in a high school art fair" levels of talent, you're not getting replaced by AI.
My art teacher told me if I can't handle criticism get out of the commercial art field (I was a young bushy-haired graphic design major in college). That helped me grow a thick skin concerning feedback from others and constructive criticism.
I'm about to upload my art on Twitter/X out of spite; both sides of the sociopolitical spectrum are ridiculous when it comes to drawings (and the "Art Community" is nonexistent)
Yea never offer free... you will get abused. I have being doing art for years. But got limited by nerve damage to my hands and losing fine motor control. And was not able to do much for years. Now with AI I can finally do completed art again, using it to fill and finish. And the only whiners I had were the all the art school graduates, who have failed to make a career out of it. Making a living doing art is not a simple or easy thing. Since many artists cannot or will not draw to other specs or needs.
Ugh, that choosing beggar is pissing me of. I once did a raffle on my art page where I offered one free commission. And then the winner would hound me for several months, even though in the meantime I was busy helping friends raise money after they lost their flat in a fire. (I was pretty public about it too, which shows that the person just wanted free stuff and never even bothered looking at my page.) I never offered free art after that.
I don't do commissions anymore without a down payment because people are extremely demanding, will do anything to try to get the art for free, and attempt to completely control your process. Doesn't matter the price. Free, to them, means it has no value and it (and you) are fine to abuse.
That's sad. I won a free commission once, and although the result wasn't what I hoped it would be, I thanked the artist because she had clearly put care and work into doing it. People have different tastes, but there's no reason to snipe at someone for something FREE.
@ it's sad for everyone; free commissions are excellent practice and if the client likes it, a confidence boost. I think instant gratification has ruined this process, alongside pretty much everyone losing their social skills from too much social media, ironically. I'm quietly hopeful that SM burnout _might_ encourage people to develop interpersonal skills again, though with the rise of AI generation, demanding attitudes may get worse.
I saw this with digital when I was younger. This is just the new version of the same thing. "NeW TEcHNoLoGY???? Weeeeeellllll, I don't have it and you can't either and it makes art toooo easy" is basically what this boils down into.
It all goes double for female artists. A lot of online stalkers will slam you to try and get a date, typically gaslighting, then try to ban you when they get rejected or feel you aren't giving them enough attention.
I wanted to add some context as someone who follows Pipuru in a post they admit they are young like probably 13-14, started at 95 followers they’re not very old and still young trying to figure it out as an artist I think being young makes you to wanna do things for free not knowing the market and being generally lost.
@@SuperCosmicMutantSquid Sorry, but if rap music stayed like it was during the mid 80's, and not embrace the thug life ruing the 90's, I'd have more respect for it.
I manage a music channel on Twitch. You will not believe how butt hurt people get at not getting stuff for free. Like they think their like or sub outweighs an actual paying supporter who drops several hundred bucks a month to support the channel.
Yep. I remember back when 3D rendering software became "big" on the internet. Whether just artists showing their work or various sites using said artwork. There was a (small) wave of complainers screaming it wasn't "real" or that it was "cheating", etc., etc. Yet in just a few years, the art was everywhere on sites and software to create the art was selling strongly. I remember buying Paintshop when it was incredibly expensive. It's like the sequence on the Carousel of Progress where the Father is saying: "There's always someone saying that you can't do that. Turn back, go back. but there is no going back." AI is here to stay. More and more traditional artists (whether the create hand drawn pictures, renders from model--making software, or animation made by similar software) -will use AI to assist them in their work. Sure, anyone can use AI verbal or typed prompt software to create (mostly) random artwork. But where I think this is going (refinement-wise) is to software that will allow artists to scan in their hand-drawn art to be the major "prompt", then make changes directly to a temporary image generated by the AI similar to how you make changes in a model created by using Photoshop or a similar program. At that point, you still have the originality of the artist's "style", alongside their personal inputs, in conjunction with AI being able to render lightening quick. I probably am missing a lot of details there. But I really think this is where a lot of artists will go to improve their workflow while still developing a unique art style.
I was touching the edge of AI art YEARS ago but didn't have access to it. It was one of those things whispered about back then in some cicles, before even Apple photo correction and widespread filter use. I incorporated some of the things I heard into random images because the more minor errors sounded like a tracer proofing hack. I was regularly criticized by younger artists for things like a missing line in places that could be argued as a style choice that was sometimes done in art even older than me as a time saver. I even had an artist beware up on me for a while over this.😂 It's hilarious to see people losing their minds over crap I thought about before AI art was even thought possible.🤣
I like drawing, I'm okay at it. Lots of people tell me I'm really good. But I still feel like I draw like a 6 year old. I get those peeps wanting free stuff sometimes. And yes they annoying. But I show them the commission sheet. Rules are rules, and I follow the rules. As for Comics, there is one I support. And there are several that I see for free when the artists posts them. If I tried to support all of em, I would not have money LOL.
It's like everything is skeptical now. I think what's going on is that people can't tell what's real or not anymore due to AI growing and seeing it everywhere on the web.
@@MisteRRYouTubySo...you agree, insane losers screaming at artists, demanding more work from them IS more detrimental to art, because AI cannot create art.
Nothing to do with art, but it's a well known trope in many industries that free things have no value, and the more expensive something is the more value it has. The classic example is management ignoring what employees are telling them, hiring consultants, consultants ask the employees what the solution is, tell management, send management a big invoice, management think it's the best solution ever even though it's the same thing the employees could have told them for free.
It really always is, you give and inch they take a mile. Whatever you do/ give will never be enough- they want everything all the time and if they don't get it they throw a tantrum.
The big issue so many "artists" have with AI is the fear that it will put them out of "business". Which is ironic, because for the majority of them, that's exactly what's going to happen. Most are mediocre at best, and even the basic prompt-and-done AI art will be better than anything they can draw. The rest will stick to their morals and refuse to use AI, while the rest of the world learns to use AI in their work, making the gap too large to bridge and leaving the anti-AI "artists" in the dust.
When I use AI to create art, I consider it my art and have no problem presenting it as such. Why should I, or anyone else, care what people who call themselves artists think? Art is art no matter how it's created. For people like me who have not been blessed with good artistic skills, AI is a game changing playfield leveler and it puts the fear of god in those who are blessed who think they are special.
I feel you on this. As an author, offering free books was a great way to work Amazon's algorithym, but at the same time people tend to expect freee books and will wait. And if you don't offer something for free they want to know why you're not like I slapped their first born or something. Most I've met are great people, but you always have those few that just make it hard.
As someone who uses certain 3D tools to make his own comic and tell his own stories, I sometimes get people demanding I do renders for them. I usually tell them to pound sand and I've gotten my share of haters from it. Some go on to accuse me of not being a real artist because I use programs like Poser, Daz, and Blender for my stuff. Well, I don't consider myself a real artist because I really don't think I'm that good. I'm just using the tools I know to tell my stories or create characters for my RPG group. My original "comic" was something I came up with because I was mostly stuck home during lock down. Only last year did I actually fork out money to actually physically print some copies. It was an experiment and it turned out to be worth it. Gave some of the copies away at a con and members of my gaming group. Got a positive response and working on volume 2 and improving my skill. But no, still don't see myself as an artist...I'm not that good. But I'm having fun doing it and laughing at my haters.
I’m wondering are there art communities to join, anywhere, that are good for lower skilled artists to post their work and get good constructive feedback?
It seems the free art demanding people haven't changed since i was in highschool (25 years ago). Being the best artist in school sounds fun until you realise the hundreds of people wanting something from you. I learned real fast to just tell people to "fuck off" in varying degrees. Ironically i still live in the high school world but as an art teacher.
I think we'll see a comeback of traditional art. Digital art will be rendered worthless and generic while physical paintings and drawings will hopefully increase in value.
AI isn't going to replace Character Designers or Creature Designers. AI can only pull from what already exists, Character/Creature Designers must create what doesn't exist.
Gotta love how they can overreact like people who overreact with "Wokeness"... Very stupid, but never forget that real scummy people use stuff like this to get rid of people who are more talented than them. We seen this in the "Salem Witch Trials", we also seen this with recent strikes in Hollywood. The artists community can just or even more scummy than government itself.
Why does the most annoying and demanding "consumers" are always those who pay nothing or the cheapest tiers?
I worked with rich and poor customers. On average, rich are nice and friendliest. Poor are worst, most demanding, difficult and they are already getting discounts or don't pay what the rich are for about same product or lower level tier but still good quality product.

Even the "joke"ones because it's was for free they could have chosen someone else but I'm always happy to receive free art when possibl

As a 3D artist I can attest to demanding people bulling artists for free artwork. I just ignore these people.
haha.. i saw worse.. one paid in coke, other called artist his bicha..
I have seen that going on, along with the bully critics which have nothing positive to say about anything.
As crazy as it sounds... This is actually also an issue for fanfic writers!
We fanfic writers wrote whole novels and release them for free. And then there's usually that one person or a few saying. "You should do that, and this, and that. Write that for me!"
And they make it into a demand we should write what they want... I always respond. "Sounds like a fun idea. I hope you have fun writing it. Goodbye."
I really do write for my own amusement... now if these people were willing to PAY me, then I would listen.
This has always happened. They often prey on young artists who are easily impressionable, too. Respect yourself enough to value your time, folks.
There's a saying one of my professors told me during my final portfolio interview that I wish I had listened to more "He who pays least complains most." It has always proven itself true.
Yup. I fun a business, it’s always the ones paying the least who ask for the most, and will complain of it doesn’t go exactly the way they expected
Because they demand the same thing as the person that pays 10x for the product
This happened with clothes too. They bought a 10$ shirt from shein, and expected to have a 100$ quality? Get real!

You want to know why AI is becoming more prevalent in the creative field? The AI is not a better artist than those on Twitter, but the AI is, however, a better _person_ than those in Twitter. Say all you want, show me an AI (even Neuro-Sama) that would be this toxic to an artist.
@@DavidFoxfire Pretty much. The art circles have become really toxic BEFORE ai or even nfts. This is the natural result.

I feel like loads of these jumping on the gun saying. "A.I." are people who are incredibly jealous.
They wish they could make art or music like that, so they won't believe other people actually can. They'd rather tear them down instead of remotely considering it could be possible.
eh, before that it was people accusing of plagiarism. It is what it is
Yeah it is ridiculous that they are unjustly accusing an artist's art being AI generated.
Grey Delisle, shes not exactly well in the head to begin with
To be specific, she promoted AI art while rallying against AI voices, because of course she’ll only dislike the trend when it threatens her own job.
Even if did draw perfectly, you can tell if it AI generated for the AI has a certain art style and it has a certain texture similar to CGI.
@@Soundwave142 Depends on the model used. A lot of the images you see online use the same base models since they use generation services.
@ Yeah, each AI has a different "art style" of it's own.
I draw. Have made money off art, and I couldn't give a flying f about AI art generators. This is like when art software and digital art first started gaining traction, traditional artists were up in arms anyone could do art all of a sudden. A lot of fields have always been at risk of being replaced partially or entirely by automation and AI.

They totally destroyed my love of drawing and painting. It took me years to find joy in it again. I can imagine that attitudes have gotten better in thirty years.
An update about the Sailor Moon Subreddit mod, since I was following that immensely:
This was not the first time the mod had shown such a power trip.
"reddit mod" and "power trip" are basically synonymous.

People used that as “proof” even though they both stream them drawing, and also videos of the whole process.

Yeah those "detectors" are faulty, just like "lie detectors" are faulty, and aren't allowed in court.
They get jealous when an artist better then them posts something so they jump on calling it AI art to try and get rid of them.
I'm not an artist, but i know people enough to tell you that if you give your work as a sample for free, whatever it is.
There will always be an ingrate or two that complains about the quality of the gifted goods, in fact they are probably the same people that would complain about the quality of stolen goods.
If they were expecting instant turn around theres ai art for that
As a lifetime artist, who now trains AI on their own work to speed up my workflow, I think many artists forget that every artists do art for different reasons, and with different methods.
Or a plain white painted canvas that sells for tens of millions of dollars.
I been sayin', this is the same logic Chris Chan had when he was complaining about Asperchu's artist using digital art as a medium

- "NEVER give the milk away for free."
[Edit]- An artist has the absolute right to put YOU on THEIR black list.

Witch hunts are getting out of hand that they will lose any impact, just like all the buzzwords that circulate in SNS.

Ditto for Reddit.

I incorporated some of the things I heard into random images because the more minor errors sounded like a tracer proofing hack.
I was regularly criticized by younger artists for things like a missing line in places that could be argued as a style choice that was sometimes done in art even older than me as a time saver. I even had an artist beware up on me for a while over this.😂

It's funny that people who complain about quality of art pay nothing, but they pay money for poorly drawn fan arts sold in conventions and events.
So pretty at start, like studio Ghibli space Mek
It seems the free art demanding people haven't changed since i was in highschool (25 years ago). I think we'll see a comeback of traditional art. Digital art will be rendered worthless and generic while physical paintings and drawings will hopefully increase in value.
