    okay guys let's settle this shit. if the deck functions as intended in battle as it did in deck builder, then its not rng. sure a deck can have variance in performance, but ultimately if you intend to win by getting big with lurk or high rolling with yetis that's not rng. If your deck has high varience you're probably just a f2p dude who doesn't have all the cards and is high on hopium to carry you to a win.
    Now the best examples of rng in runeterra, in my opinion, are howling abyss and piltover university. your entire win condition is the idea that you will GENERATE at RANDOM a card that will automatically win you the game. pure rng at its finest in runeterra
    edit: thank god for lord eldred for changing the topic in chat. yall were getting mad annoying with semantics.

      What about cards like reggie, conch or telescope? Those are rng by your definition then

    • @Xgya2000

      @@foxinabox5103 If your deck's wincon is Reggie, such as having your whole tactic constantly Recalling him to get more random spells, the deck is RNG.
      Reggie himself is an RNG card, but for a DECK to be considered RNG, the way the DECK is made to work needs to be.

    • @riliash
      @riliash 2 года назад

      It would help though, to acknowledge that this definition of what an RNG deck is is based on pretty undefined semantics as well. I would agree that the chosen definition of RNG is helpful, but I still understand that people disagree with or are confused by the random restrictions to what is considered RNG heavy.
      Also becomes weird when your reliance on RNG is such that it evens out to a consistent deck again. Like "Concurrent timelines" decks are heavy on RNG mechanics, but the variance of the RNG is not that crazy actually.

      Generally if you have a leveled zil up and and have already managed to play a enough cards for that to be valuable then you've already won and need more mana/hand size instead of going for further value. And taking out 1-2other cards either weakens your consistency to getting to that point or your survivability

    Hey Sunny! I've been playing exclusively this deck since the expansion dropped and absolutely adored it - I think at least 2x Ruinous Path is really, really good. It gives the extra reach you often need to close the game while also gaining you life and drawing whatever you Predict for, and it's stupidly easy to activate its condition, either with time bombs or even just killing your own unit with Rite of Calling. It's also an excellent card to copy with Evil Imperfectionist if you think you don't need to clear their board any more and want to transition into killing them/gaining life. I also run one copy of Glorious Evolution - it's not always necessary, but it's pretty easy to just dump it with Careful Prep or just not pick it in Predicts, and if you manage to successfully cast it, your opponent has like, one or two turns max. Since your entire deck is so cheap and full of draw, especially with the cost reduction from Evil Imperfectionist often making your cards cost 0 and just continue to cycle and burn. If that doesn't finish them, the massive units with Augment will usually finish the job. I think 3x Rite of Calling is a must - whether it's drawing the first Zilean, or killing Zilean to tutor another and play it, burn a gem late game to draw a Zilean/Careful Prep or kill your own unit for Ruinous Path, I genuinely think Rite is the most important card in the deck and really what ties everything together, especially since it doesn't ruin your Predicts - if you put something on top and then Rite, Rite just draws a champion directly and doesn't shuffle, so your top card will stay what you wanted. I think this version of the list is genuinely really good - high tier 2, if not low tier 1, at least.

      This is the list I've settled on at the moment. 3x Evil Imperfectionists is too cloggy. I kind of wish I had room for 1x Scrying Sands, literally just as a spellshield popper, but have to cut cards somewhere and SS is just mostly useless the majority of the time. Sunny is right, though: the skin is MANDATORY. Definitely increases your chance of seeing time bombs. ;)

      @@dragonofyre4 I dripped Scrying Sands and I'm only on 2 Evil Imperfectionist. That list I posted before is still what I'm rocking with. The more I play, the more convinced I am that Ruinous Path is the key card to making this deck work. The drain, the draw after you set up predicts (with spell mana, so you still have unit mana for time bombs or other stuff), it's fantastic to clone, the effect is stupidly easy to do thanks to Time Bombs and Rites. 3x is probably overkill, but 2 is perfect.

    Oh I see, the way you used RNG and highroll aren't literal. So basically semantics, and ultimately it has to do with how you built your deck
    With highroll what you meant is "this is how i built my deck, and it's going perfectly" like with lurk hitting those pykes and reksais, or allegiances
    With RNG you mean something along "i did not build my deck like this but i got some good cards" like Reggie with his 6+ spell card generation or Conchologist
    And in terms of gameplay it has more to do with counterplay, where in a highroll you'd expect sometimes the enemy's lurk will hit reksai twice in a row so you'd curse them, but with RNG you'd be like "wtf i lost to a generated card" and now you feel frustrated

    Id say Lurk is RNG deck in the same way Lor is RNG game. Would you call Aggro deck drawing a one drop turn one RNG dependand deck ? No because its expected since they have plenty of them. Same way it works with Lurk my lurk deck ran like 38 Lurk cards and i still missed many times. Having 36 cards which from you have 6 you want on top of your deck with like 6 other cards that can help them achieve this goal which would make it like 24 cards that can miss being smaller and smaller each turn. Im lazy to calculate it and also suck at math but you know what i mean. Just lurking is expected and hiting Pyke and Reksai is expected actually its bigger chance for player to hit pyke spell than pyke id say since... you always Kick Pyke and reksai from your hand and them returning has smaller chance than not being on the top of the deck.

    All decks are RNG to some extent. You either draw particular cards or you don't. Lurk is built to maximise the odds of hitting a lurk creature ontop of your deck, no different to an aggro deck looking to draw their cheap threats. You've built your deck to maximise the odds of hitting and drawing particular cards and as such try to mitigate the natural RNG present in all TCG/CCGs. The difference of lurking Rek'Sai or Pyke is no different to drawing the card you need in any other deck. Is it lucky to hit them? Sure I guess. But it's also expected to hit them eventually when you're playing a 3 of.

    • @colossaldonut5190
      @colossaldonut5190 2 года назад

      The difference between that and other luck values is how much lurk can snowball from getting those advantages early on. A lurk player that hits Rek'sai on turn 1 or 2 with their lurk will have more success winning than a player that only gets it by turn 5 or 6, not even mentioning continuously good lurks in a row.
      Does other aggro decks rely on having good openers and extenders as well? Yes. But other decks are not as reliant on situationally having this specific card on the top of your deck at this specific time for their win condition as lurk is and it can lead to really unfun and frustrating situations for both players due to the lack of control both players have on the game during their first few turns. But honestly this is just a fundamental problem with any aggro deck, lurk just highlights it the most. At least allegiance decks didn't have a card that said "if I am used for an allegiance bonus, double it" or something like that.

    • @joshuasbrooks
      @joshuasbrooks 2 года назад +1

      @@colossaldonut5190 surr but it's still not RNG. Your deck is built to maximise the odds of hitting another lurk unit. It's not like something such as chimes where outside of Byrd and Esmus placing them ontop of the deck there is no control over whether or not you're going to hit chimes in the top cards of your deck outside of just getting close to the same number of chimes planted as there is cards in deck. Would you call a deck like bannerman an RNG deck? All decks need to draw particular cards and in this case instead you're more bothered about the card before you draw it. All that's different to this and say a Yasuo deck is you're more concerned about a lurk unit being ontop of the deck rather than your next stun or recall spell. The majority of lurk decks is lurk units... so the odds are they're going to hit them with their lurk triggers. The whole gameplan is to do that and snowball the stat increases it gives. That's not RNG that's just how the deck functions and that being maximised through deckbuilding.

    • @joshuasbrooks
      @joshuasbrooks 2 года назад +1

      @@colossaldonut5190 as for hitting say Rek'Sai early... it's almost no different to simply drawing any clutch card when you need it. Is it lucky of the opponent sure. But it's not RNG based that they hit a copy of one of their various 3 ofs in their deck. No more than it is any card in their deck anyway. Sure it swings the game heavily when it happens but that's more just the impact of the card in the deck rather than them getting lucky. Fair enough if it was a 1 of at that point yeah, complain away. But them hitting a 3 of off the top of their deck with their lurk trigger is mathematically no different to you drawing whatever 3 of in your deck you may need for a specific game state.

    "It's high rolling, not luck"
    The term "high rolling" is just another term for good luck. So yes, high rolling IS luck.

    I don't how you play this deck but complain about darkness when darkness only works when veigar is on board but his whole combo was done in you hand.

    Oof. Showed the games in the wrong order then? Literally tells chat in game three you'd retire the deck if you face Lord Eldrid and that you auto lose to that.....but...you DID face Lord Eldrid game 1 and won....(great game btw). Maybe should have shown the first game last for dramatic effect..,
