Sinatra & Basie Collaborated on 3 albums. An historical first, It Might As Well Be Swing & Sinatra & Basie at the Sands. They also did a tour together in summer of 1965.they also appeared at the Sands for long runs first in 1964 then again in 1966. They performed together loads of times and did tours in the 1970's as well as TV specials together until 1981. I like the fact your highlighting Bing but facts are wrong on Sinatra
Well, as far as I could tell, May arranged the album “Francis A and Edward K” simply because he was put up to the task. It wasn’t uncommon for the orchestra’s of well known jazz performers to use completely different arrangers when constructing an album. However, Ellington’s orchestra still plays here, it’s just that May conducts and arranges.
Another great review by FigsETC of a Bing obscurity that is definitely worth getting familiar with!
This seems like the perfect combo!
I Thought It Was Bing Crosby And Mr. Basie
You pretty much covered everybing!
Did you know about this album?
No, I didn’t!
No! And I bought a broken vinyl of Hey Jude Hey Bing.
@@auldthymer That’s neat! It’s a shame it’s broken though.
Oh yes, always loved it. Released on CD by EmArcy Records sometime in the 80's I believe.

Well noted! I wasn’t necessarily acknowledging live albums, but it definitely seems that I should, to instill accuracy.
Sinatra made an album with Ellington. But the arrangements were by Billy May. WHY?
