      I noticed that myself- the DT has great silicone work. The sump looks like the silicon was applied with a masonry trowel.

    It's funny you mention the sump silicon, every failure I've had with red sea tanks has been the sump leaking!

    Power bricks are easy to mount-heavy duty/industrial Velcro tape for the win, and you can always change position easily in the future. Just put a piece/pieces on the back of the bricks and Velcro to that plastic back panel😊

    • @richh6790
      @richh6790 2 месяца назад +1

      OK - but how do you fix the Velcro to the panel? Superglue/some other adhesive?
      If so, how well do adhesives stand up to humid/salty environments?
      I'm trying to work out how best to do this without screwing anything into my stand, to avoid compromising the waterproof finish (& for ease of re/moving if needs be later on)...

    Nice. Say I wanted to use the extension as an ato reservoir and put a refugium in the sump, could the skimmer go in the front portion of the sump, next to the roller, and the back compartment be for the refugium?

    • @ReefDork
      @ReefDork  2 месяца назад +1

      The main sump is designed so the skimmer sits in the back section, before the return pump - it has an adjustable height baffle to set the water level right for the skimmer. And the previous section has a weir comb which will prevent strands of chaeto from escaping. The same isn't true of the section before the return pump so you might get chaeto in the return pump. But yes, you could still do it that way if you wanted.

    Absolutely stunning! When I upgrade next this is definitely the one for me. ❤ However quick question, I noticed the cabinet lighting in the sump was fantastic. Did that come stock or did you install it separately?

    Hi @Reef Dork
    Reference leak test, is there any value in keeping the tank "out of final position" in case of a leak, or just take a chance it's all good and tank/plumbing won't have any leaks (that need tank/stand pulling out)?
    Also, are there any issues in using normal tap water to leak test (for those of us that don't have their own RODI station)?
    Cheers,
    Rich.

    • @ReefDork
      @ReefDork  2 месяца назад +2

      No I don't think so - I'm not expecting the tank to leak, it's really the plumbing I'm checking. Tap water is fine as long as you get rid of it, although I'll be using rodi.

    • @discol76
      @discol76 2 месяца назад

      @ReefDork Then just add the salt directly to the tank, assuming it passes the leak test?

    • @ReefDork
      @ReefDork  2 месяца назад +3

      @@discol76 I'll drain this after a week to wash off any manufacturing goop then fill with rodi again, then add salt

      How many redsea tanks have failed, icannot imagine a company like redsea can have this stigma without doing something about it.
