    Great review. I just bought a Venue 11 pro 7140 and after listening to your review feel very good about my purchase. Thank you!

    The quality of your videos is getting better and better.
    One suggestion, and it's a small one: you might want to consider balancing your audio with regards to the branding intro. It is much, much louder than the rest of the video, which might be jarring to some viewers.
    Otherwise, evening else is excellent. Great work.

    Just picked up one of these bad boys for 101$, should arrive next week. Your review is extremely helpful, thank you for making it. Hopefully throttlestop is compatible with these core Ms so I can undervolt a little bit and extend the runtime.

    Nice review. Some comments based on be owning the 7140 since November and also have the 5130.
    I get better battery life than reported here- about two hours more with tablet and one hour additional with keyboard, but usage is subjective.
    Replaced my 128GB ssd with a 512GB Transcend. Works great and did not have any of the cover breakage issues.
    The battery is replaceable
    I use this device as a mini me gaming laptop and media. Games it plays smooth at 1280X720 with no throttling that impacted framerates: Left for Dead 1 & 2, Saints Row 3, Unreal Tounrament 3, Doom 3, Crysis Warhead, Dead Rising 2, Halo, Flatout games, NFS Most Wanted, SF vs Tekken, Mortal Kombat Komplete, SF 4. These are just a few.
    Also plays most Dolphin Gamecube emuator games smoothly.
    Highly recommend this device! With keyboard.

      Hi can you give me advice. I had 7130. Now looking to choose between 5130 or 7140. main priority is battery life so assume 5130 best. but worried about only 2gb ram. Is 5130 okay for light use such docs and web surfing? Or is new 7140 best?

    In your opinion 7140 of .88 ghz compared to dell venue previous version with core i5 of 1.6 ghz you already reviewed which is better choice assuming that 7140 has a good graphic property but the older version with finger print and micro hdmi and better way of battery replacement - what do you think? Thank you

    Good review, congratulations Damir can you please answer my question. I have a question right now I have the dell venue 11 pro model 7130 Intel I5-4210Y 128gb and 4gb Ram.
    How do you compare this unit (that you are review it right now) with the previous model Dell venue 11 pro 7130? Thanks in advance.

    Thanks for posting this review. I'm on my second 7140 as the first had an SSD issue. Did you ever take a picture of unit with the back off? My understanding is that battery is serviceable but not easily swapped. Meaning you need to remove ribbons and probably a few screws. This is one of the primary reason why I selected this model over the surface... some flexibility with repairing the battery, wifi card and SSD. You can't do this with a Surface.

    • @Cyclingbrian
      @Cyclingbrian 10 лет назад

      Thanks! I'm betting it is serviceable if one has the skills.

    In the google it says there that the battery lasted 8-9 hours and with the dock connected can last upto 11hours.. its a good thing i watch ur video bcoz im bout to lose my cool with my 7140 bcoz i thought somethings wrong with the battery (one battery) with me watching a video on youtube with 30%volume and 40% brightness my tablet only lasted at about 3-4 hours... is that normal? Or should i be worried? Thanks.. hopefully u can reply...

    Hey Damir It was an awesome review, Can you please suggest is it better to buy Dell Venue 11 pro 7140 4GB 128GB for 150$ Manufacturer Refurbished?? Does it handle basic usage pretty well on windows 10??

    Is the keyboard from Venue 11 compatible with Venue 10 pro? Cuz I ve got Venue 10 pro 5055 and I am looking for keyboard for it but its very few of them on ebay or amazon to be found. Do not want to spend much and I found out that the keyboard from Venue 11 is even cheaper and more common to see around

    You need to compare the Dell VP 7000 performance against the new Surface 3 (both are 10.8"). Want to see Atom x7 vs. Core M.

    But i dont want more than 11inch, also, no intel atom and shit and want 4gb as minimal memory
    Couldnt find it everywhere, and bam.. Dell Venue 11 Pro 7000 (7140)
    Thanks brah
    Out of curiosity, did Dell pay you to review their unit? Or they just send it for review purposes only? can you keep it after that?

    Last year's model had a lousy capacitive home button that vibrated in a cheap way (cheap vibration feeling, cheap noise) that could not even turned off. How about this one? Is the home button the same?

    • @typingcat
      @typingcat 10 лет назад

      Yeah, exactly. I hardly used the home button, but it was so easily touched by accident and the vibration was so annoying. Moreover, there was no way to turn the vibration off. I read similar complaints from others on the Internet. Dell does not seem to have listened to the users this time, either.
      Personally, I think a physical home button (like that on an iPad) would have been much much better. I do not know why manufacturers put capacitive buttons on the bezel.

    I found the i5 version with 4gb ram, 128gb disk + 3G for 500€, the cheapest Core-M is arround 800€, is it worth the extra 300€?

  • @JamesJLaRue

    Excellent review as always. I was going to buy the quad core atom version (I heard the is a version with 4gb RAM that can run a 64 bit OS even though it is an Atom CPU, can't find this model for sale) but I want to be able to run Guitar Rig with low latency using my focusrite scarlet interface. So I thought maybe the i5 version would be better. But I read about this "new" version of the 7000 series with the Core M. I read that it's supposed to outperform even the Atom in terms of battery life, but be comparable to i5 in performance. Your test got only 5 hours of battery. Is there a power saving mode like all my windows laptops have? (CPU throttle, display dim, etc). Other option is surface pro 2 (3 is too big for my needs) not sure what to buy.

      Someone who purchased and reviewed it on dell.com's website says its can handle 512gb sd cards. Hard to believe. They dont make 512gb sd cards

    • @TonyStone3000
      @TonyStone3000 9 лет назад

      ***** I thought the same thing. I'm going to get a 128gb SD card and take my chances. Worst case scenario is that it will only recognize half of it. A 64gb card is in there now without issue, but I want more. Later

    Das Gerät ist gut aber meiner Meinung nach einfach zu teuer, für das was es bietet. Die Performance ist ok, das Gerät ist wuchtig, das Display hat einen dunklen schatten an der unteren Seite (da wo der Windows Button ist), der leider sehr ins Auge sticht (auch in diesem Video fällt er mir auf). Das Problem mit der Abdeckung kann ich bestätigen. Bei mir kam es schon "kaputt" an .. erst als ich es selbst geöffnet habe und mit Mühe wieder geschlossen habe, war alles bombenfest. Die Windows Experience auf 125% ist einfach scheiße, aber da kann das Tablet nichts für. Für 100% sind 11" dann einfach zu wenig. Die Akkulaufzeiten sind auch nicht der knaller.
