    I set this up in the yard today for the first time and it seems great. Added a bit of additional cordage and stakes and still under 2 1/2 pounds. Plenty of room for my 74" body to lay down straight and more importantly, sit up straight. Will definitely be ordering the optional rear pole to allow for the wider front entry using the dual trekking poles. No regrets at all, fantastic all the way around.

      It's a two-person tent so you will have 4 trekking poles. No need for the other pole... less weight

    Been playing around with my new Motrail since I received it a couple weeks ago, and I really enjoy it. Plan on using it a lot this fall/winter in Joshua Tree National Park as my solo tent (6'4", prefer 2 person tents for extra room). Will be doing a video review of it in the backcountry at some point, as well! Great tent, thanks Henry!

    Hey Henry, One simple thing that I did to mine that made it MoBetter haha. The clip that holds the mesh door when rolled up I cut the locking part of the clip off with scissors. I have a kayak that did this for larger clips on the deck bungees and makes it easier to remove and re attached. Same principle here and it holds just fine with it removed. Just a thought.

    Liking the MoTrail so far! Its light, easy to set up and seems sturdy. Had it in 30+mph winds and rain without issue, maybe some spray but nothing too bad.

    I like that splash protection as I have had trouble with that, but I hate trekking poles so I would have to get your poles or make some out of aluminum. You could have given the price.

      The price of the poles, or the tent?

    My MoTrail is in the mail and I'm quite eager to get it out for a test run. What direction do you advice to pitch the tent in when it's windy?

    • @tarptent
      @tarptent  3 года назад +1

      Low/foot end if possible.

    The real question is when are we going to get a motrail li?

    Any suggestions for when you have unlevel terrain? We slid down toward the back all night and kept kicking out the small trekking pole! Would adding Velcro to the floor and sleep pad help?

    • @tarptent
      @tarptent  7 лет назад +1

      Do you have silicone streaks on your floor? That's what we usually use to keep from sliding around!

      +LongStraightLines If you haven't used the ProTrail yet you can exchange it for a MoTrail.

      Thank you for such a generous offer but I've used the Protrail quite a lot so far. I also own a Notch which is probably my fave but looking at a Stratospire1 soon. One small question.. the mesh in my Notch (a few years old now) is prone to snags but the mesh in the newer Protrail appears to be stronger. Just wondering if your newer tents have this mesh? Btw, the snaggy mesh is not a deal breaker with the Notch.. they're awesome tents and I recommend anything from Tarptent to my hiking friends in Australia.

    • @tarptent
      @tarptent  8 лет назад

      LongStraightLines We did change the mesh. The Notch has particularly light (and therefore more delicate mesh). The StratoSpire1 has the 1 ounce mesh which is a bit heavier than the Notch and should be a little less delicate.
