Hey Shawny! Nice selection! For me Silk wasn't over looked at all. It just the field was crowded with good R&B groups and singers! Everybody brought their A game. We had groups like Jagged Edge, Next, Shai, Hi-5, Blackstreet, Tony Tony Toné, Mint Condition, Guy...they were all on fire! How could you choose one over the other? For except from New Edition, I didn't. I loved them all.
I don't know who said that they were over shaowed by those groups 🤔??? They definitely wasn't by any group. Silk held their own. They had hits that were 🔥🔥🔥🔥and they still perform till this day. You haven't even scratch the surface of Silk's catalog of hits.
Here's another old school list, I think you should check out. 1.Gregory Abbott-Shake You Down. 2.Billy Ocean- Caribbean Queen. 3.H Town- Lick You Up, Knocking Boots 4.Shai- If I Ever Fall In Love, Comforter. 5.After 7- Ready or Not, Heat of The Moment. 6.Jade- Everyday of The Week, 5432 Your Time Is Up, All Thru The Nite ft. P.O.V 7.All 4 One- So much In Love(Acapella version & Radio Mix version) I recommend listening to both. 8.Babyface- Everytime I Close My Eyes, Whip Appeal, Never Keeping Secrets, For The Cool In You, It's No Crime. 9. The Deele- Two Occasions 10.Jon B. Someone To Love, They Don't Know,Are U Still Down, Don't Talk. 11.Changing Faces- Stroke You Up. 12. Zapp & Roger- Computer Love, I Wanna Be Your Man. 13. Jeff Redd- You Called And Told(Strictly Business Soundtrack) This is a must!! 14. Johnny Gill- Rub You The Right Way, My My My, There You Go. 15. Keith Sweat- Twisted, Get Up On It, Make It Last Forever, Nobody, I'll Give All My Love To You, How Deep Is Your Love. 16.112- Cupid, Peaches and Cream( There are two versions of this song. I highly recommend you do both. 17.NEXT- Too Close, Wifey, Butta Love. 18.Johnny Kemp- Just Got Paid.
That song is timeless, was written by Keith Sweat and still is and always will be one of the greatest R&B songs ever recorded. Unconditional Love by Hi Five is another song I love from that era.
One of my favorite songs from Silk . In the 90s so many RnB groups was out. Mint Condition, Shai, Hi-Five, Jodeci, Boyz to Men, H-town, After 7, Guy etc...
I can't wait for you to get into Joe too. Shawny, it's literally gonna take you a min to catch up on songs from the 90s because the talent back then was just so fire. Silk is a very sensual group. It's easy to vibe to their music.
Thank you for reacting to my request. This is my favorite song from Silk. I saw your reactions to some of their other songs. I was sure you would like this one.
Awww, you done it now! My favorite slow jam by Silk 💯. You might as well go through the whole album 😂. Check out the uptempo song Happy Days off of this album. I think you would like Meeting In My Bedroom off a later album - the vocals are crazy on that one 🔥🔥🔥
Hello Shawny, great reaction as always! Truth be told, I like Silk more than many of the other groups like Jodeci so I’m suggesting another couple songs by them…”Meeting in My Bedroom “ and “Freak Me!”
The smile on your face from 4:37 to 5:00 was great!!! I was 22 years old when this song was released in 1992 and honestly they don't make much music like this anymore!! Glad to see another generation appreciating an amazing, underrated group!!
Shawny, loving your reactions, no cap. Please react to another Silk classic "Freak Me". Also there's the little known Boyz II Men banger "Uhh Ahh - part 2", mind blowing. Also react one of Jodeci's earliest hits "Stay". Looking forward to this.
I don't know why I love seeing the younger generation reacting to all the music that got me through my teens & 20s BUT I DO! Well not all of them but the authentic reactions like I find on this channel!! Keep doing what your doing!!!!
Maaannnn I love Silk, Jodeci, Boyz II Men, Dru Hill, Jagged Edge, Shai, Guy, New Edition...I mean there were A LOT of groups in the 90s. Everybody could sing their asses off back then, so it was harder for all of them to shine.
To answer your question, in truth, Silk's self-titled sophomore album wasn't a huge hit and they lost some steam in the midd 90s. But they came back with their 3rd album in 1999, which has 2 of their most memorable songs - If You and Meeting in my Bedroom. No group was bigger than Boyz II Men. They sold boyband level records, which made them an anomaly. Generally, black R&B vocal groups do not crossover the way they did.
Jodeci broke out bc HIPHOP ‼️💯 They were the 1st R&B mens group to b hiphop... U gotta do the remixes to all these 90s acts. They made us 4get the original. Remixes got the club play DO Jodeci feat Ghostface Freakin u video
