  • The Montclairs were formed in 1969 while the members of the group were still in high school in East St.Louis, Illinois. The group consisted of George McLellan, Kevin Sanlin, Clifford Williams, David Frye and lead singer and principal songwriter, Phil Perry. After several releases on the Arch label, the Montclairs were signed to the Shreveport based Jewel/Paula/Ronn label in 1972 when they had their biggest commercial success with the singles, Dreaming's Out Of Season and Beggin' Is Hard To Do. That led to an album release on the Paula label in 1972 titled after their big hit, Dreaming's Out Of Season. Included on that LP was the beautiful ballad, Do I Stand A Chance, written by Phil Perry and featuring his wonderful falsetto lead vocals.
