He truly is legendary.... He didn't let his handicap get in the way, and actually stuck with that playing style which let him bend notes in ways a conventional player wouldn't be able to pull off practically. It was a lot of fun covering him.

A nice portrait of a sadly underrated genius who overcame impossible odds to become an all time great artist. Thanks for this peek into the musical life of Jeff Healey. RIP Jeff Healey!

Thank you so much! You said it perfectly, he was a sadly underrated genius. Put his entire heart and soul into everything that he did. And really he was the one guitar player who could get on stage with SRV and in perfectly compliment him with both able to bring down the house. Thanks again I really appreciate it! 🙏

Jeff was truly one of a kind. Not only because of his awesome guitar chops but he had one of the best bluesy vocal styles.

He really could sing his heart out just like he could play his heart out. He could write a hit as good as anybody, but for some reason sadly he still sort of falls in a niche which is a shame. All I know is that seeing footage of Jeff sharing the stage with Stevie, and holding his own despite the fact that he couldn't see a single thing just continues to blow my mind.

Loved to see you took my comment to heart and made a video on Jeff Healy. Another suggestion would be Buddy Guy a great guitarist with a good sense of humor. Keep making the Videos.

Went to school with his cousin, she was always so proud of him. It was great to see his popularity rise beyond Ontario.

I got to see Healey twice in NYC back in the day. Great voice, great songs and crushing it on guitar. He had insane vibrato on string bends. He played the black Squire with the red pickups.

@@guitarmeetsscience It was like watching some strange guitar shaman. Between being blind and sitting while playing guitar overhand on his lap, he seemed otherworldly. He was a unique gift to the music world.

For what it's worth he hit the balance perfectly - for me at least - between between raw musicianship/chops and playing MUSIC/SONGS. He was a modern breath of fresh air after all the shredders who could play exotic scales over weird chord changes in a bizarre time signature at 140 dB and 180 BPM but could not write a legitimate musical compisition. He carried the blues flame forward for awhile more.

    • @guitarmeetsscience

Jeff really did - and he put it out there 100% every time he played. People who know him love his work, but I sure wish more people knew just what this guy managed to pull off.
