I’m sure you’ll have a great time 😀🙌 we loved the food in Saigon, so much of it was amazing! In general the food in Vietnam has really surprised us and been one of the overall highlights of our trip!
This was one of our favourite bits of the trip - it was so funny. Within seconds it went from sunbathing to horrendous storm and us all running around panicking 😂
I swear, your laughter and positivity and open mindedness to Vietnam's unique characteristics are so contagious. Now only if you can spread some of your money to me so that I can go there, that would be perfect :-)
You guys looked like you were having the time of your life and I really enjoyed watching you. So entertaining, happy, and positive...putting out good vibes while there. What was your favorite city and activity while you were in Vietnam? I think you should come back as there's so much more to see and do there. You should consider visiting Ninh Binh (go see the dragon on top of the mountain and take the boat ride below), Sa Pa (take the rail up to the top of Fansipan, visit the glass bridge, go see Cat Cat Village, there's a park of sorts with hiking trail nearby, and there are a few waterfalls worth seeing), Cat Ba Island (check out the video "Jamie and Hannah" put out), Nha Trang, Phu Quoc (a ton of stuff to do there), etc. If you're the adventurous older couple, maybe you might be up for the Ha Giang Loop (you can book a 3-4 day tour where your ride on the back of the bikes), or even do Phong Nha multiple day caving. :)
@@doodahgurlie Hi thanks for the lovely comments. We really did have the time of our lives, the people in Vietnam were so nice and friendly, it's hard to pick a single highlight because we loved every minute . We have some friends going this year so have recommended every place and restaurant we went to. The food was amazing, we have even started going to a local Vietnamese restaurant in Leeds at home. Our son and his wife are still in Vietnam enjoying themselves with plenty more RUclips films to come. We also hope to come back one day and maybe see some of the things you are recommending. My wife has just told me she liked Ha long bay cruise and the t and t villas in hoian the most but it was a very difficult choice. Best wishes from Gary and Janet (Leeds England)
So glad you enjoyed yourselves! The time we spent travelling with you both was easily the most fun part of our entire travels! Can’t wait to do it again! Xxx
Hello, your videos are great, watched all from your Vietnam series. I'd like to know if you booked all the hotels online in advance or went straight to hotel reception and negotiated there ?
Thank you so much for watching our videos! We hope you found them enjoyable and helpful in planning your trip! 😀🙌 In terms of booking hotels, you can sometimes get them slightly cheaper by booking directly at reception but we wouldn’t recommend that because we are quite picky with our hotels and we wouldn’t want them to sell out after we’ve gone to the effort of choosing. We’ve also found that it’s not always cheaper and it often isn’t cheaper by much. Our method for booking hotels is generally search on booking dot com a day or two in advance (we like flexibility in case we want to add / remove days in places we really like / didn’t like as much as we thought we would). We filter for the things we’re interested in (8+ score out of 10, central location, price, sometimes a swimming pool etc). Look at the hotel selection and choose the one we like best. Drop them an email or WhatsApp to say ‘Hey, your hotel looks great and we’re thinking of booking for X to Y dates. On Booking dot com it’s showing as VND Z, can you beat that price if I were to book with you direct? Thanks’ If booking dot com says there are only one or two rooms left then we skip the last part and just book on booking dot com as we wouldn’t want the last rooms to go as we’re waiting for a response. Hope this is helpful! Let us know if you have any more questions! 👍
What a great travel video, love it! It's very real. I was wondering, what time of year did you go? We're going this weekend and I would like to know if I give the Scaffholding Cathedral a miss.
So glad you enjoyed it! 😀 Unfortunately that scaffolding is still there (and will be for a while). There’s plenty of other things to see and do though! We’ve just put a new video up on places to eat and drink (after my parents left we spent days indulging so have plenty of recommendations)! Two of our favourite things to do in Saigon (which will feature in future videos that will be posted after you arrive) are: XO Food Tour - this was incredible and well worth the money. It’s pretty famous so you’ll be able to find it on Google; and The Mekong Delta Tour (our trip included a boat ride on the river, some amazing seafood, as well as a tour through the Mekong Delta region, which was very rural and underdeveloped and very different to Saigon even though it’s literally next door). It was fascinating and super fun!
What an amazing time you guys all had in Vietnam. All the hotels (and cruise ship!) you guys booked were unique and beautiful! Just curious, were you sponsored by the hotels and such or did you have to pay out of pocket? Oh, and the food you guys ate looked absolutely delicious wherever you went. What has been your favorite city and activity so far?
Thanks 😊 we loved literally every minute of our trip! The scenery was amazing, the food was fantastic and the Vietnamese people were so friendly! It’s impossible to pick one: I’d maybe say the Ha Long Bay cruise and hiking in Sapa (coming up in a future video), but it’s so hard to choose because we honestly loved it all. There wasn’t a single place we went that I wouldn’t recommend. No we weren’t sponsored (I wish) as we’re very new to RUclips, so had to pay it all out of pocket! It wasn’t bad though as everything is very affordable compared to the English prices we are used to back home!
Yes Saigon is the better name before the communist invasion of South Vietnam on 30 April 1975. True Vietnamese will always call it Saigon and the flag is three red stripes and yellow background and not the communist flag that is right now.
We personally haven’t had anyone try to scam us in 3 months of travelling in Vietnam - it seems way safer to us than a lot of South East Asian countries! Maybe you just had a super unlucky experience in Vietnam? Either way it definitely doesn’t feel fair to say that scamming and stealing runs in their blood!
People really need to visit vietnam . Amazing food, beautiful country and very cheap living cost as well
We couldn’t agree more! One of the best places in the world!
Love this!! Gary's "Fan's Only" could really take off!! 😅😅
Love your parents! ❤
They’re great - we had such a fun time travelling with them! 😊
Thks for vlog. Going there in nov, last time was 2010 so lots has changed
Yeah it’ll have changed loads in that time! I couldn’t believe how modern and developed the country was!
You’ll have the best time!
Also let us know if you have any questions or need any advice with planning your trip!
The restaurants there look so good in decorations, customer service, and the food! I'm going there this August, cannot wait!

Awww thanks so much 😊
We genuinely had the best time ever in Vietnam, so we’re really glad that came across! 😀
We really enjoyed this holiday with you both, it was fantastic. Without you we would still be lost in Hanoi. XXX Gary and Janet

Cảnh đi bộ qua đường thật mạnh mẽ . Bạn đúng người Việt Nam chính gốc . 😅😅😅😅
😂😂😂 Me and Jordanna got into the swing of it after a few days in Saigon, but my mum and dad never managed to get used to it!

losers always like to bark (yellow dog)😂😂
SaiGon is forever for Southern VietNam , Ho Chi Minh should be for Northern VietNam and Bac Ky
Vietnam could be better if the people quit scamming.
scamming exists everywhere dude! Stop allowing yourself to be scammed
