I'm surprised, I thought Heartt was pretty damn good. It's so hard to put a number or quantify someone's skill. I love you guys thanks for doing what I never could!

He is, Hera is just making jokes about his skill because he was in the chat and they are friends

i thought camels counter horse units, why did he go hussars?

maybe he made them because they dive/raid well.

it allow him to serve as cheap meat shield, decent raider and convenient trebs/siege diver. the halb would have been a better choice for the last two and he didn't need to raid given the good trades he had done before going for camels.
But it would've to buy for all the upgrades and buildings. When he just needed to upgrade the hussars. Well that's my take at least
Also all those the counters thing are a rule of thumb, not rules set in stone. Given the situation it might not be the best option. Even though it is 9/10
Here the hussars was expendables when the camels were the main unit. Hera doesn't care he loose thousands of hussars as long as the camles doesn't chase the arambai. And the arambai can hit the camels when the hussars are tanking them.
But how would you know that in your game ? Experience i'd say. Weight your decisions afterward and think if another choice would've been actually better. then try out next time.
Until you get a good idea what choice to make given a specific situation. What choice feel better. Bascially until you get a "gamesense".
Gamesense + theorical knowledge + a good execution will get you a long way
And the harder is taking the good lesson to good decision and mistakes.
That"s when watching pro's decision-making will help you. By comparing your decision-making and theirs.
