    Some argue that she wouldn't survive if she were to be able to retire in a sea pen. Well dying in the ocean swimming in a closed off sea pen/cove is better than dying in a bathtub where she currently lives. She has never ever hurt anyone and needs to be released. I wish a helicopter could come in the night and scoop her up

    • @brandtmccall5184
      @brandtmccall5184 8 лет назад +22

      +Michael de los Santos Well said I completely agree. I think she would thrive in a sea pen and when her family swims by they would certainly hear her calls and remember her. These are very intelligent mammals. They can release her, now that SeaWorld has said they will no longer breed Orca's the next step is for all of us to lobby them to release Lolita. I wrote the CEO Joel Manby an email and investor relations. Releasing her is not only the right thing to do and she will be fine in sea pen with possible reintegration with her family, but Sea World can sell books and movies about it, they can generate money from doing what is right. The poor thing wow.

    Seriously though, they are on a small island off the coast of Miami. She may not be from these waters, but a sea pen right along side the park may possibly be better than her bathtub.

      Foundations have offered to give her a sea pin near her native waters in Washington’s Puget Sound and she could possibly reunite with her family and if she can’t be fully released, she can still be near them. 😢

    • @theorcaproject9600

      @Sarah Arshad VIII-C-A Yes! The only reason Keiko's release wasn't 100% successful was because he wasn't reunited with his family. If Toki goes back to Puget Sound and spends a few years in a netted sanctuary learning how to hunt fish, socialize, fell the waves and swim in big spaces, she can be reunited with her family, and since she's Ocean Sun's daughter she can even become the matriarch one day!

      I went to visit her today and what’s ironic is she’s only a couple feet away from the ocean, it would be amazing to see them make a Sea pin For her and if spectators wanted to watch maybe with binoculars or something, she’s been pimped out for over five decades she deserves that much but what I will say is she’s not over exerted, she only puts on a show for maybe five or 10 minutes maybe two times a day at most. They are closed on Monday Tuesday and Wednesday. I can’t believe she’s defied all odds and she’s the oldest whale in captivity with her circumstances being the worst meaning the smallest pool ever for an orca

      @Sarah Arshad VIII-C-A Keiko died 4 months after being released He traveled 900 miles from Iceland to Norway to seek out human comfort. He could not catch food on his own and he died of starvation loneliness and pneumonia. He should have lived out his years in a seapin.
      They got footage of him speaking with other orcas, but they left him.

    Hi all Lolita lovers. I agree with the many Orca experts not Sea World whom say Lolita will thrive in a sea pen. It is certainly far better then living her whole life in a bathtub. The poor thing, can you imagine living like this, she did nothing to no one. Sea World will no longer breed Orca's but they have more to do, beginning with releasing Lolita, with the help of Orca experts. Please everyone email Sea World investor relations continue to not visit the park until she is released. Ultimately no large water mammals like Belugas, Dolphins, Walruses, Penguins ect.. belong in captivity except for rehab if they are injured or cannot survive in the wild (Lolita can experts say!). All the best to everyone.

      @@ripplewavess Agreed. As much as I don't want to be on Seaworld's side here, I will say that their tanks are a lot bigger than the little paddling pool Miami Seaquarium has provided to Lolita. This is borderline criminal to imprison such an intelligent mammal like this in complete isolation from her kind. She would fare a bit better at Seaworld, but the best solution for Lolita is a sea pen where she receives the adequate care and attention she needs. Releasing her out into the wild is out of the question as she has been too dependent upon humans.

But, now I am older, and more intelligent. I used to think aquariums were safe havens, compared to the wild. But seeing all of the captured animals just laying there, with no sense of self or life, is just depressing. I am never buying a ticket to a Sea Park again, I hope Lolita gets retired to that sea pen before she dies. So she can die, as close as she can be, to free.

    • @yoitsme5640
      @yoitsme5640 4 года назад

      Keiko and Lolita are two very different killer whales from two very different situations. Comparing the two whales and saying the outcome for Lolita would be the same is uneducated and foolish.
      Keiko was very very sick when he was in that marine park in Mexico. If he hadnt been rescued he would have certainly died. It is no doubt that suffering with his skin infection along with the stresses of confinement and deprivation had negatively affected his long-term health. Keikos health and overall physical endurance greatly improved when he was taken to Oregon and finally Iceland. He displayed the ability to hunt for his own food and got a lot of his strength and confidence as a wild being back. There was the issue of his young age at the time of capture (around 2 yrs). He was far to attached to humans and that made his full release questionable at best. His family was never found and it is likely that they perished in future captures. But he enjoyed 5 years of his wild life again. 5 years that had been ripped away when he was stolen from the wild.
      Lolita on the other hand is a completely different orca. Lolita is in exellent health considering how long she has been held captive. Her teeth are nearly perfect (a very rare thing for a captive orca), she is in great physical shape and mentally she is sound as well. The fact that Lolita is in good health means that she will survive the journey and be able to adjust to a new life in a sea sanctuary. She was taken at around 4 yrs old. So she was already being taught the hunting culture of her pod. She was already being taught the language of her pod. Her family (the L pod) is very well known by researchers and those living in the Washington state. Her mother (L25 - OceanSun) is alive and well. Yes the move would be scary for this whale who hasnt seen the ocean since she was a calf, but saying she is better off in this illegally sized fishbowl is pretty selfish.
      There is no way to know for sure if she would ever go back to a fully wild life, but she deserves that option instead of being forced to live as a prisoner.

    I can’t bare this awful planet sometimes, this and animal testing. I’ve endured cancer as a child, losing all my friends and people pressuring me into adapting to normality after years of feeling like some rat in a lab with no independence or privacy. You think life is unfair and you see things like this, you just see how mean life is. 😒

    This is BEYOND wrong. Even if she was let out into the wild, she probably wouldn't make it since she's been isolated for so wrong

      @pacificwhitesideddolphin6792 8 лет назад +3

      +Tanner Fry That's the thing - she probably would, there have been multiple studies where people have found that orcas and dolphins can be trained to get back to normal; it's just an excuse Seaworld uses for not letting them out. :(
      Here's one study I read: ngm.nationalgeographic.com/2015/06/rewilding-orcas/zimmerman-text
      It wouldn't be easy, but it's possible. Tons of people - including myself - would be willing to help these orcas and dolphins, all Seaworld would need to do is open their gates!

    Ooooh my goodness!!! I didn't realise how small her tank really is. She looks huge and it's truly as if she's in a bathtub. I am amazed she hasn't gone crazy yet by attacking or killing humans. Maybe she has attacked humans but I don't know about it. If so, could someone let me know just for me to learn more about her in life. She looks so tender, even too tender. Weird. Do they give her drugs for her to relax or something? I have heard and also seen she's behaving abnormally. Sooooooo sad! Jesus Christ! Help her! Free her!

    being in the middle of nowhere, now its the time to do what is right for
    her and for humanity, please, set her free and give her a chance to be
    free at last.

      SeaWorld was the company that paid for Lolita and the 6 other babies that were captured from her community back in the 80s. They are 100% responsible for her exploitation and abuse. SeaWorld is not and never will be anything other than a horrible company that runs off the blood of its captive whales.

    I just went to Miami Seaquarium today and what’s ironic is she’s only a few steps from the sea. Obviously she would never make it in the wild, Kieko died Four months after his release and he was only 26 Lollita is 54 and she has defied all odds outliving all orcas in captivity despite she’s in the smallest whale bowl in the world. I needed to see for myself her condition, I will say this at least she’s not over exerted the show we saw was probably maybe 10 to 15 minutes long and her dolphin companions did all the work, she did a few tricks and was heavily fed and rubbed down. After 50 years of entertaining she should retire to a Seapin, Even the dolphin stadium at the Miami Seaquarium is double the size of where she lives, I don’t know why they have her in the smallest enclosure. Her and Hugo actually used to live in the old Manatee tub 😳 That’s half the size of where she is at now imagine being trapped with your coworker 24 seven for a decade. No wonder Hugo killed himself. However like I said she is not being abused, she is very sweet and says hello to everyone that sees her. The loud music Is probably very annoying, I know the owner of the Miami Seaquarium died in 2017 and it got sold to another partnership. I wish we can all make donations so she can retire but I would never want to see her dumped out in the ocean to fend for herself.

    Like I said on one of the other videos that talked about Orcas.
    I disagree and don't believe an animal like an Orca should be in captivity, an Orca is one of those animals that is best left alone and free in the wild.

  • @RPostVideos

    If she can hang a little longer she'll be free because of sea levels rising! Ocean water literally comes up in the streets through the drainage system.

  • @RPostVideos

    Seriously though, why does money have to be the root of all evil? Greed is evil. The whole reason this orca and the countless others are in captivity is because of greed! Honestly, I get both sides of the argument, but in the end we humans need to be the superior creatures and do the RIGHT thing for all the animals sharing this planet.

    This is one of the saddest things I haver ever seen, she belongs in a natural environment with other Orca, but in a space like a sea pen sanctuary, this poor little Orca is stuck in the equivalent pf a bathroom sink, Hugo had it worse there living in their manatee pool is like putting an orca on a drinking cup, he died well before I was born so I only found out his story recently.
