    A SpaceX Falcon Heavy rocket launched the Arabsat 6A communications satellite for Arabsat of Saudi Arabia. Arabsat 6A will provide Ku-band and Ka-band communications coverage over the Middle East and North Africa regions, as well as a footprint in South Africa. This will be Falcon Heavy's first commercial launch (for a paying customer). In February 2018 SpaceX did a demonstration launch of Falcon Heavy, carrying Elon Musk's Tesla Roadster with Starman up into space.
    Delayed from first half of 2018 and late 2018. Delayed from March, April 7 & 8. Scrubbed April 10.

    As a kid I followed every Apollo mission. Many late night's. It was so exciting. I'm so glad someone with vision is doing this stuff again and the politicians are out of the loop. Go SpaceX.

      I did too! A begged my parents to wake me up ,,, think it was early early morning......we lived on the West coast of CA.....,,to watch Alan Shepherd blast off on our
      b/w tv! Wow!!
      I was 7 years old and so excited and so thrilled! Oh we were all sure I would grow up and work within NASA someday. Maybe as an astronaut! Well that didn't happen, but the launches and news and brilliant new minds fully committed to keep exploring, keep moving forward in our passion to expand our knowledge is so damn encouraging!
      These launches are still blowing my mind 🤩

      @@dks13827 I really don't blame NASA. It's the politicians. Kennedy had vision he put forth the goal and funded it over the span. But SpaceX gives me hope. Maybe this next generation will have vision and get stuff done.

      Politicians are the ones that decide Moon and Mars missions. They are involved. SpaceX continues to improve because of projects it gets from NASA. BFR wasn't gonna be developed without the initial Mars project by the government

      @Adrian O they are not painted black...the vehicle is falling through it's own burn as it lands...the black is carbon soot from the engines and probably heat scorching from flames

      @Adrian O The top of the black charred section corresponds exactly to the bottom of the LOX tank. There is a sharp line because above that line is ice.     It is absolutely amazing what space x has achieved in a relatively short period of time. I cannot wait to see what the future holds. With technologies that will completely change energy production and storage for everything from phones to space ships, the next 20 years will be a wild 2 decades.

    I never get tired of seeing this, I remember when our Rockets were still blowing up on the launch pads, this was stuff I could only dream about, this was Buck Rodgers stuff and now to see it happening, is a dream come true, thank God for private enterprise...

    It is an amazing achievement. It is great to see everyone so pumped over this. I remember when I was in third grade Nasa came to our school and showed us models of the space shuttle. Seeing that come to fruition later in life was something special. We need fewer weapons of war and more space travel!

    We're in the future now. Excellent, amazing feat by SpaceX! Yesterday it was amazing to see the 50th successful landing/recovery of a 1st Stage. This is making Space attractive again for so many young, aspiring aerospace engineers!

    Congratulations SpaceX, you did it this time. And I couldn't be happier that you did. SpaceX is one of the few things in the United States right now that make me happy to be a citizen of this country. Elon, you are capturing the imagination of the world, and pointing it towards space, I can only imagine how you must feel after all three touched down, almost dead center. I for one, cannot wait for what you do next.

      Grumpy OldMan Exactly. Why is no one commenting on the utter absurdity of something like this even being possible? You don’t have to be a Flat Earther to understand that there is no fucking possibility that a falling tube would be able to stabilize itself using sheer thrust alone, with no wings, fins or side to side adjusters whatsoever! Wtf people!

    Magnificent launching of this fantastic rocket. This is probably the closest we will ever get to a reusable rocket, fantastic technology.
    This rocket reminds me of a fictional rocket created by Gerry Anderson called 'The ZERO - X'. It's wonderful that an Idea ahead of its time is present today.

      @@odysseusrex5908 they could simply have a helicopter close by recording the main booster touchdown. That's like 5 cents for spacex. Or any other 100 ways of actually showing real time real video of the booster landing! Something is suspicious about the video always cutting out when it comes to the main booster landing.

      It's not the camera, its the antenna pointed at the satellite over 22,000 miles away. There's really nothing that can be done.

      The landing was filmed. It was only the live transmission that was interrupted by the force of the rocket landing on the ship. They will probably release the footage some time.
