A pleasant conversation?
Allowing anyone to talk, sacrilegious!
Enjoy the roar of the engine.
Awesome looking Chevelle and trans!!!
Awesome product. Love the really short, tight throw in each gear.
Thanks! We're glad you love it!
that shift really does look pretty tight.
+david Horner Thanks, we're pretty proud of it!
I have a Magnum in a chevelle, May I suggest, shift with two fingers when pulling back, and don't rest your hand on the shifter, it will last longer. And I love mine with my LQ4 6.0, and I'm putting 2 turbos on later.
May I suggest Throwing 2 turbos will shorten the longevity of your transmission
Beautiful car Jack. With 3.73 gears in the rear I think your speedometer or Tach is off. I have 3.55 gears in my Chevelle and if my math is right 60 mph yields around 1763 rpm's in 6th gear for my car. So unless you have very tall tires (my tires are P295/50R15 - providing a circumference of 81.625") your rpm's at 6o mph should be around 1850 with 3.73 gears. Here is a formula: mph x final trans. gear ratio x rear gear ratio x 88 / circumference of tire in feet = Engine RPM's. Example: 60 mph x 0.64 x 3.73 x 88 / 6.802' = 1853 RPM's
One can confirm this if they see a speed trap on the road where you can compare what the radar says to your speedometer. Just an idea to keep in mind.
Thank you, Dee. It could be incorrect, it's our customer's car and it has an analog tach and speedometer. Our main point is that 4th gear, a 1:1 ratio in the Magnum matches the 1:1 ratio of the factory 4-speed, so the RPMs in 4th would match what a customer may have now. 5th and 6th gears are overdrive gears and drop the RPMs substantially. We have an Speed Analyzer on our website so customers can know ahead of time what kind of RPM drop they'll get without having to do the math. Although, it looks like you already know how to do the equation! :) shiftsst.com/speed-analyzer
Just put a 651 hp (dyno results) 496 in my 66 Chevelle SS. Looking to replace the M20 with a Tremec 5 or 6 speed. After watching this video, considering a 6 speed. Does Tremec offer these with a 10 spline input shaft?
The Magnum only comes with a 26 Spline, but the TKX 5-speed is available in 10 spline. Please feel free to request a quote by calling 888-609-0070.
WHAT WOULD TOP SPEED BE AT WITH THAT GEAR RATIO I ALWAYS WONDERED WHAT 4.11 ,S TOP END WOULD BE WITH A 6 SP TRANS
Wonder no more! You can use our speed analyzer and calculate the speed of any rpm/transmission/rear axle ratio/tire size combination you like. shiftsst.com/speed-analyzer
May I ask??why bo a gear vendor overdrive unit??
Hi Peter, sorry, but I'm not sure what you're asking.
is it compatible with mopar small blocks?
Absolutely, give us a call 888-609-0070 and we can quote a custom kit for your application.
Will the factory pedals work with it?
Yes.
Would this be similar in a 67 impala ss
Yes, it would.
