It must have been enough, since Kris won. Matt not being in the top 3 was his own fault, he let the judges get to him, and forgot that AI is just a tv show. He also didn't stick to one musical identity that worked.

I agree I like Matt G's version way better the MJ's. I've never really liked Michael Jackson, but for one I was born when he wasn't really popular anymore. Also his voice is a little to high/ girly sounding for me. I think MJ has great songs I just prefer other people singing them.

Matt had an awesome voice. although i want Adam to win, Chris Richardson was brilliant, way better than Blake Lewis. you should hear Chris Richardson's version of 'Geek In The Pink' by Jason Mraz.
But Matt had no star quality. If he'd had won he would be like Katherine Mcphee, Taylor HIcks, Justin Guarini, Ruben Studdard, Latoya London, Blake Lewis, Chris Richardson and so many more that went down the tube after the show. No one cares for them or bought there albums!
