I had the biggest smile when I hit play on this year's BLACKFRIDAYHOG advertisement video from Tom and heard it was "Bite My Tongue", Tom is a genius when it comes to advertising his merchandise and songs....I'm just waiting to see if "Tim McDougal" shows up this year causing shenanigans again. ❤❤❤ #HangOverGang 4 ♾️

Respect, good sir. I'm in my late 30s, grew up almost exclusively listening to rap but about 15 years ago I just stopped, almost cold turkey.
I still listened to my old playlists but the combination of my brain fully maturing / understanding the power of what I consume as well as the music becoming even more irredeemable, I couldn't do it anymore.
I've never really liked mainstream anything so for 10+yrs I was exclusively listening to Texas Red Dirt country, Randy Rogers, Cody Johnson, Cody Jinks, Reckless Kelly, Casey Donahew, Shooter Jennings, Jason Boland, Cross Canadian Ragweed, bands like that. Until a few years ago I heard an Adam Calhoun song called The Patriot. My mind was blown, I'd always loved rap but never related to any of the music, and here this guy was talking about try burning a flag in front of me.
That's when I found Tom and guys like Upchurch. I just wish my dad was still around because he would've loved Tom. I used to play him some Colt Ford who was a country rapper and he liked it a lot. As I got older we bonded over Waylon, Hank, Cash, Jones, the guys who gave the finger to the industry. But Waylon was his favorite. Ha my mom just turned 70 and even she likes Tom.
Her dad served in Korea and Nam...she was actually born in Japan where he was stationed. He was a rescue pilot for the Navy and died of cancer a week before she left for college. I don't like saying he passed from cancer though...in any other facet of life, it would be classified as criminally negligent homicide. They 100% knew Agent Orange was not safe but Monsanto's profits were more important. Which really, really made me angry when I pieced things together; and also caused a lot of friction with my mom.
Her way of coping was more or less ignoring the inconvenient parts. I flatout asked her one time why am I 100x more angry about what happened to your dad, when I never met him? Because it genuinely made my blood boil. Especially piecing together old stories I'd been told about her parents smuggling experimental treatments from Mexico when the chemo was literally killing him.
When I put those pieces together, it made me sick to my stomach. If they were caught, my grandma would've rotted in prison for drug smuggling. And that's how Uncle Sam was willing to let my grandpa go out, a decorated helicopter pilot who volunteered thinking he was doing the right thing? Even now it makes me want to puke. My mom coped in the only way she knew how but the only way I know how is righteous indignation because I see how it's affected her and that is something I will never ever be ok with.
That said, my sincerest thank you for your service. And I'm proud that Tom is so appreciative as well. I heard an interview with him talking about giving a $75k check to a veterans charity and he was ugly crying while calling y'all heros.
As he lamented in Brainwashed, "We only dedicate one day to remember the fallen soldiers, the men and women who died young / But if you come out the closet as Kaitlyn Jenner you're a hero and you get a whole pride month".
Tom uses the word Superman, but what we need is Jesus. 🙏
