I was in Shanghai, China, competing for Canada at the 2007 Special Olympics World Games when Typhoon Krosa (Ineng) hit the city. The storm produced heavy rain and strong winds, but hardly any damage at all. To put it in perspective, my home town, Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada, was hit hard by a Hurricane Juan on September 29, 2003. By the time Hurricane Juan hit Halifax, the Category 2 Hurricane caused severe damage to the metropolitan area with over 165 km/h winds in just a few hours. It also produced some heavy rain along with thunderstorms right after the hurricane passed. Many Halifax area residents were left without power for up to two weeks. We were fortunate to get electricity back in two days. Before the typhoon hit Shanghai, we were actually warned to wear a hoodie as temperatures were expected to drop significantly from 30 degrees before the storm to just above 20 degrees after it. Since 20 degrees is considered a warm day for most Eastern Canadians during the fall, I would normally get by without having to wear a hoodie. Like Typhoon Krosa, Hurricane Juan left cold temperatures in its wake for a week or two.

Hurricane Beryl :D thanks but is there any good open source software as an alternative?
