Minelab Manticore Single Freq Test - Weird Stuff Going On? or Is It Normal?

  • In this video I was asked by a fellow Patreon member to run the Manticore M8 coil over the targets in my test garden but instead of doing it in Multi-IQ, they asked me if I would run the tests again in single frequency. Well I did, I tested 5-40 kHz and discovered something strange. Check out the video and if you want compare against the Multi-IQ, fast forward to 13:28. I absolutely love this coil for the Manticore.

    I've just subbed to Loren .He's a non bias channel ,i used to be subbed to Merrill as he was the same until he sold his soul to XP ,not got a problem with XP but i know he will be told what he can and cant say now ,so thanks for the heads up on Loren 🤘

      Yep non-disclosures agreements (NDAs) will have no place on this channel. Thank you for giving Loren a look. He is a straight shooter.

    Thank you for mentioning my channel happy to help out! I would be curious to know if this same single-frequency up-averaging behavior happens with the 11" coil. It's my understanding that these modern detectors know which coil is attached and adjusts properties / TID tables to optimize for that size of coil. It's possible there is a bug on AT general that is causing this strange behavior. I think the fact it is only on AT General strongly suggests this is a software issue that Minelab might want to take a look at, if it was the ground it would happen to all programs. If both coils have this same strange single frequency behavior, it could be that AT General in single frequency just performs poorly in your ground conditions, but I am leaning towards a software issue.

      Yeah thats something I need to do to rule it out with the other coil. Thanks man I hope some folks dropped in and gave you some traffic. Thanks again! I'll keep you posted.

    Stock coil vs. secondary coils
    is liable to produce slightly
    different results than the stock
    coil. The shape, windings and output etc.. No designated setting for each proprietary coil I assume so the stock coil
    is probably what the engineers
    used to set the machine up with. Coil size, shape and output can make a big difference. It's the windings you know.

    On the Minelab page a person posted this when I ask if he didn’t like the wireless headphones:
    The wireless 105's limit the Manticore's features and settings for max depth hunting.
    Is this a fact that wired headphones let you hear deeper targets? Thanks for always doing such good and informative videos.

      I've never had any issues with wireless headphones but I have no idea if there is some scientific fact about wired vs wireless headphones.

    Gosh good discovery. I'll bear that in mind since I'm confident that Minelab will do another update ( though I hop[e they do). Thank you for your time :)

    I was going to say iron was the problem but iron pulls the signal down .But i allways run my Manticore in multi.

    Equinox's do the same thing when you go to single lower frequencies. 4/5 khz make the VDI's on targets skyrocket just like this video is showing.

    I think beach modes do not do single frequency. So when you tested beach mode, it switched back to multi-frequency, I think. I haven't done that sequence of switching into single frequency while in all-terrain general mode then switching to beach mode, but I'll bet beach mode automatically switched you back into mulit-iq.

    I'll guess that the General programs have a soil subtraction thing going on like the D2....odd for sure with the tones....depth with frequencies spot on.

    • @MentalMetal
      @MentalMetal  7 месяцев назад

      I need to test it with the 11 to see if I get the same issue.

    Hi buddy ,wondering if you could do a test on factory field 1 ,with ground balance and then do a factory reset and then ground balance, I've always been told not to ground balance my ctx or 800 in English soil unless your on real hot soil ,my bro in law always ground balances ,ok he find lots more than me but he's 40 years into detecting and knows his stuff I've only been doing it 8 years ,only problem I got is I've now pooped my knee and got a leg splint on 🤦‍♂️so I can't get out for a while ,😊

    • @MentalMetal
      @MentalMetal  7 месяцев назад

      So you want me to ground balance, then factory reset, and ground balance again? Why? I'm not sure that is going to prove anything. I always try and ground balance regardless of what they tell you.

    • @crazycressy7986
      @crazycressy7986 7 месяцев назад

      @MentalMetal sorry I meant manual ground balance on field 1 vs the factory preset of 0 on field 1

    Dime 10 ins is sensitivity at 33 to 35 if so you will loose small 🎯 targets on a massive scale drop it right down.

    • @MentalMetal
      @MentalMetal  7 месяцев назад

      I'm not sure what you are trying to say but I don't run my sensitivity that high if you are suggesting that I run at 33-35.

    These machines have so-called "single frequ'" options, but they will never be as good as a top-class single frequency analogue/"digital readout" machine, It's impossible. A single frequ' MD has it's coils wound and electronics specifically calibrated for their, respective, kHz range. ie: A, lets say, Nexus MP V3, is hand-built around it's selection of coils, who's differing single frequ's are wound specifically to the machine's electronics. This is an impossibility for a SMF (Jack of all trades) metal detector: it just is. The fools and 'fan-boys' who believe that SMF machines make all others obsolete are....."wrong". This absolutely doesn't mean a SMF machine is no good: far from it. They jump over alot of the older machines in some disciplines; just not all of them😉😁

      Manticore will kick any of the older detectors asses. Night and day difference.
