Was still cold on Sunday with some nasty wind chill but warmer than previous days. Was glad to pull out a few fish, from now on will most likely be some ice fishing till March. Go Bills!
I fished next to you at Burt yesterday. I was also using the black Marabou jig. And landed 2 fish. I've seen a lot of your videos. Had no clue that was you that I was fishing next to. Lol. I'm expecting double digit days with big browns when the ice melts at a trib not too far from there. Steelhead too. January and february are always great months for me after ice thaws. I can't wait. In the meantime, oak and burt are the only places with open water. The last two years we only saw maybe a week of frozen water, which was awesome. This year looks like they're gonna be frozen for 3-4weeks. When they thaw out, those fish are gonna be feeding aggressively. Anyway, keep doin what you do! Love seein the videos when Im stuck at work.
That’s so cool. Great meeting you as well. Burt dam usually stays open in winter and is always good for a couple of fish. Looking forward to fishing again in the future, might come back when things warm up again. Thanks for watching.
Never seen you top a jig with a Meal Worm before but makes perfect sense since the Steelhead are feeding this time of year. Man I miss chasing them, been quite a few years….if only it wasn’t so far away. You caught some beauties as usual Adrian. Good stuff !
Thanks Don. The wax worms really help trigger more strikes and get those fish to hold on longer to your marabou jigs. In the cold winter months, that’s the difference between a successful day or a skunk.
Ha ha. Well, you are right. I do know what I’m doing but even that can be challenging in the cold weather months. All I wanted was one fish, but was blessed with 4. Some days you get them, and some days you don’t.
Man, freezing temps just prevent me from running the camera all the time. Battery drains in less than an hour, having the jacket open all the time just makes things cold for my body. I tried running it for a while but these fish seem to only hit when the camera is turned off. Maybe my next trip will be ice fishing for them and hopefully get some good footage through the ice.
Hello and thanks for the video. Always learn something new watching your videos. I too tip jigs with wax worms. Yours seem to be much larger than those I use. Would you mind sharing what type you use or where you get them?
Hi James. I buy my wax worms from Pets Mart, any pet store should sell them. They really help catch those fish in the winter when they are real lethargic. Thanks for watching and good luck next time you go out.
Do you use jigs on the north side of the border as often as you do on the south side? I'm Canadian and don't feel like I see a ot of guys running jigs up here especially on the Huron/G bay tribs. Thanks
I’m also Canadian but in winter fish mostly state side since it’s the same distance to drive. I mostly use the white marabou jigs on our side, mostly down in the slower deeper pools and harbours since it mimics a shiner. Usually the marabou jig will outperform roe in the winter months as the fall spawning is over and fish start feeding on bugs and shiners.
Great video ol'friend. You're always in the US now, did you move there or something lol ? All is well for me now. I'm gonna go to our honey hole and bust open some ice either with an auger or with a rope and heavy rock. I had to make a new email, my old one got hacked. Let me know if you wanna go to our old spot sometime soon. I'll give you a report within a week or two on how it is. Cheers , Tony
Hey Tony, great hearing from you. Most of the Ontario tribs are locked up so I mostly fish state side. I’m willing to fish our home creek once we get it open, until then just ice fish. Thanks for stopping by.
@ I was at the first location the video. I think I hooked a decent coho and lost it but alll I caught was fresh steel in the morning and the dark ones showed up for the evening bite. No browns that I hooked but did see a few good ones get banked.
Well done Adrian ✌this time of the year can be a grind

great job Adrian. Glad to see you get into some fish. That's what keeps us coming back!
Thanks Jim. Winter fishing is not easy but very rewarding when you do catch.
Another great video! Beauty Fish!
Thanks Kyle. Appreciate it.
Winter is my favorite time for Steelhead, well done!
I agree, Carl. You may not get many fish but getting one fish in those conditions is more rewarding.
You did well, my friend. Those were some beautiful fish. Great stuff as always. Thanks for sharing. Cheers.
Thanks Laszlo
Well done as always Adrian. Those are some nice fish!

It was a decision I made in the morning. Glad I made it out, it was cold with windchill but glad I connected with a few fish.
Another best day for you Adrian, the patient is right there for the first fish and really work to catch them, very good catch my friend all the best...
Thanks Joven. Winter fishing is tough, these fish are hard to catch, I’m glad I caught 4, made my day.

That’s good to hear, Mike. I don’t fish there often, that was my second time in last 8 years. Mostly do Burt as it is closer.
