Hi ya Dave. Couldn't help but notice palm fronds laying there. I'm finding many uses for those myself, in Casa Grande. Great ground cover, but be very careful walking on them, slick as ice. The arm - stick part if even kinda sharpened can be driven into our great soft (lol) dirt. About 14" long drive with 3 lb hammer. Leaves also easily attach to fence if you want quick shade for plants.

Dave, one word for you, auger . You can rent one from home depot or buy it from some places for 150-200. You will need to dig a lot more holes in the future for not just trees but post for fencing and other hardscapes. It will not only save your back and knees and every other joints but more importantly it saves you time. You can plant like 10 trees for the time it took you to plant those 2 and I don't know how old you are but I am in my 40s and my time and back is worth it.

Often I have seen my Phoenix area friends dig in native soil and think how lucky you folks are compared to us up here in Vegas to have such good soil...but I sub miss those thoughts after watching this my friend!
Tim Brown lol yeah it’s pretty compacted clay here until it is mulched! Prob similar to Vegas I’d imagine
We wondered why a whole mango orchard in a nearby property was so stunted and took years for the trees to get to any size, we found eventually they used a post hole digger on the tractor for quick easy holes in fairly heavy clay, post holes we dug for fencing had almost polished sides. it would only work for tree planting if you then got in with a bar and broke up the sides.
Oh wow! yeah also Im realizing the PH may be off especially with a mango orchard! they like approx 6.5...

Add some John and Bob's smart soil solution smart soil solution. Buy some penetrate formula and clay soil kit to see if it help with the clay soil. Also use a water filter to help the microbes work on the soil.
Like the old slash & burn farming technique! Have you done an update on "Campfire Moringa"? I imagine it would do better than your other native clay soil only
You are awesome person. I just planted moringa, using Ellen White method ( didn't know you have this video), I have a lot of ash, but do not know if I should use it - we have alkaline dirt here in Tucson, Az.

First I want to thank you for some information you sent me a few months ago about the proper way to dry moringa leaves and now I have another question for you:
My goal is to dry the moringa leaves and put them into capsules. So, can I dry the moringa leaves naturally, without using any mechanical process? Do they dry enough to remove all the moisture content in the leaves? Let me explain first, that we started a moringa farm in the Philippines and we are growing about 2000 trees. We just have had our first harvest.
We have built 4x4x8 metal sheds where we hang the pods for natural dry. After about 3 to 5 days the leaves start falling into a net, we let them dry for another week and then process the leaves into powder and finally we encapsulate them.
The temperature inside the sheds gets to 34C in the afternoon and, technically, we don't have winter here.
We are concerned about the temperature variation between day and night, the air humidity interfering on the drying process and the time of leaves exposure to the outside.
Our intention is to keep all-natural since we do not use any chemical, pesticides, and/or fertilizer, other than the moringa harvest leftover. We drink the same water we give to our trees and the air is pure since we are on the edge of the pacific ocean.
We are trying not to use commercial dehydrator or stoves to dry our moringa but I have some concerns.
Any help will very much appreciate my friend. We love your videos always. Thank you so much...

Dave, caster beans are deadly. Will the moranga be safe? Cross contamination?
Maybe you could have watered the area first or the hole to make the soil moist and easy to dig..
Juan Arcos any water on really clay soil turns into a soupy mess if you water before
Juan Arcos yeah I could have watered it but it does make it soupy especially hitting it with a pick axe... but soaking the ground does help if you do it a day before! I just jumped in... lol
How Anything Grows in that Dust Bowl called native soil is beyond me but that hole that was once a fire pit whatever plant is lucky enough to get into there I can see it's skyrocketing

Angel Lilywhite try it- plant it ASAP and be patient on cuttings- how thick is the diameter of the cutting?

Why was there a concrete slab under the dirt?
Ball For Life it wasn't a concrete slab... I just have very high clay content in my soil so when you have a fire on top of clay for a couple years, it'll cook the clay and make it almost solid like how you cure a clay pot... so I had to break through that layer of cured clay...

Ball For Life best thing you can do for any soil... sandy included is to add tons of mulch. Wood chips and other organic matter added to the top of sandy soil will over the years develop into some soil...
From what I have heard anyways.
Mulch is always your gardens best friend tho!
