@russpendergraft5057 One of the reasons this occurs is because when Helene got into Tennessee and NC, it's a mountainous region. Storms get slowed down in areas like this and sometimes get trapped. This results in the horrific flooding that occurred.

Right the same storm came through Atlanta and we had some flooding and wind damage but the level of damage in NC and Tennessee is insane

Speed. The system moved through Florida fairly rapidly, which didn't allow for a lot of time for rain amounts to build up. The size and speed of the system is what created the deep storm surge. Once it hit the higher elevations of the southern states, the storm slowed down, and essentially piled up on top of itself, so it had more time to dump more rain. Add into that, orographic lifting(air moving up a mountainside) which allows for more rain to fall at higher elevations, thus creating greater accumulation at the lower elevations. This same thing happened with Hugo in 1989, which came in from the Atlantic. Hope this helps.

Had it rained two more days over East Tennessee, it would have been a category IV state disaster.
As it is the reservoirs downstream are still maxed after 4 days.
Helene spun towards Chattanooga and Nashville and it dissipated.

Just think about this for a second, how many people are displaced fue to the drastic weather to the point that getting to the voting ploes are not aconcern at all for them during all this devastation! And how dose this affect postal service for so many on the east coast? And now we see what could be a potential for more storms possibly coming to the mid America and Eastern American states? Then you factor in the possibility of weather manipulation and its an absolute disaster scenario!

"We might have a possible potential threat of an inkling of a threat. You should be concerned."
You literally said a few days ago something was imminent right after Helene made landfall and that's been blown apart by shear. But you got people (like my mother-in-law in Canada) freaked out over it.
News and even weather has devolved to almost nothing but editorial and speculation. You're reporting what might be as what is. How about just saying the Gulf is currently quiet and then when there actually is something there tell us about it. But don't go calling it "potential blah blah blah,' just call it "blah blah blah" when it is "blah blah blah." You're not telling me about a cold front that doesn't exist yet. Why is this any different?
While you're filling five minutes with speculation, why don't you address why your speculation has been seriously wrong much of this season? And before you say Helene, it only takes one wrong storm in the wrong place and that's what that was. We're well short of the Armageddon you prognosticated and, yet, you keep doing it. The end of November can't come quickly enough.
