  • The Seeing More of the Universe Series was created by Harvard's Alyssa Goodman for the Data Science Fellowship Program of the Vera Rubin Observatory, in 2021. This episode focuses on how to tightly interconnect data, language, and pictures in communicating data-driven results. The video briefly touches on "The 'Paper' of the Future," which contains several good examples of interactive figures--and a separate video on this channel (see link below) highlights those. Also featured are interactive plots created using glue, plot.ly, and WorldWide Telescope, showcasing the "Radcliffe Wave" (see links below). The video offers the first public presentation of a proposal to NSF by Goodman and colleagues to include augmented reality figures in astronomical journals.
