@@FeelingShred They may not be the same style but that doesn’t make them any less holy. I’ve been listening to Ty since Silent Planet was released in 88 I believe. Didn’t really start listening to Dean until around 98 but that still gives me 25 years with him. Love Kim as well. Ty and Dean were 2 of the most influential to me as a Guitarist anyway. Your comment was right on! Cheers!
This was originally a Talk Show song called Saturday. You can find a recording of it on RUclips. Just search Stone Temple Pilots Talk Show Saturday live
+Edward Bliss Amen... you can hear Talk Show's live version of it..."Saturday"... which is how "Glide" was originally written by the band before Scott Weiland re-wrote the lyrics in '99
thats correct and based on that one live recording of it I have to say I like Dave Coutts melody more! Also, I will eventually do a few newer STP songs though I cannot say for sure which ones yet. Thanks for watching and feel free to subscribe
I don't think so. It's a '63 Fender Jazzmaster...actually the neck is a '60... It wasn't the best guitar until I had it recently set up. It rocks out now haha
On the STP version of Glide, there is a strange sound that starts up at 1:28 and goes to 1:41. The sound returns at 2:42 and goes to 2:56 How is this sound made? Some kind of pedal? (The second occurrence also includes a nice overlayed guitar riff from 2:48 to 2:54.)
Hey can you send me the tab of that little guitar riff at the beginning before the chords for the verse start? I looked all over online and the only one I found sounds completely wrong. Thanks!
Sorry no tabs, I did this by ear. The riff should be used with some distortion and delay. The intro is: X-X-X-2-2-X X-X-X-0-2-X X-X-X-2-2-X X-X-X-0-3-0.. Those are the chords just play the appropriate rhythm to play the entire intro. Hope this helps!
Most likely a guitar overdub. A hammer-on pull-off between the 5th and the 4th fret of the high E string... who knows though... it could be anything with those guys :) I did only the basic track with no overdubs whatsoever.. there are definitely quite a few though.
2:08 If anyone knows what is being fretted on these next 4 chords please advise. I have watched over and over and tried all I can think of but it doesnt sound right. Thx. V
Dean Deleo / Ty Tabor / Kim Thayil
the holy trinity of modern guitar
dude Kim is great but NOWHERE NEAR Dean
yeah I have no idea what I was on about that particular day 🤣🤣these 3 are not even in the same style, my bad

I don't even know why I fall into these generalizations... I guess I was talking about more melody songwriting-focused guitar
but in terms of high speed technical solos you have Buckethead / Bumblefoot / John5 the new generation of shredders out there
This is stp best song
Sounds great! Wish the band would have played this one "live". R.I.P. Scott
U da man when it comes to STP!!! Awesome as usual!!!
10/10
One of my favorite stp songs! Great cover!

Nice rendition. Picked up on those last few progressions I didn't have.
I could listen to 50 different covers of "Glide" by 50 different musicians or bands. I just wish there were more of them on RUclips

Good job, kid! Bravo bravo!
Excellent!
GREAT!!! BRILLIANT!!!
I heard somewhere that this song was actually started during the "Tiny Music" sessions. It kind of has the feel of a "Tiny Music" song.
I agree Matt, the riff was also used for Talk Show's "Saturday" in 1997, which was never officially recorded.
I'll probably do "Dare if you Dare" sooner than later. Thanks!

I don’t think I can get behind that (liking Dave’s melody more). Great video. 😊
Love it.
Great job man ! Thanks
Another great play! Awesome guitar, btw.
Nice job on the cord work, I would say it’s perfect 👍🏻
Epic!
Great job as always!

Nice!!!!!!!!
very similar to still remains, but great song
what do you do with those opening notes?

2-X-0-2-3-X @ 2:08 then,
0-7-6-4-0-0
0-6-4-4-X-0
0-5-4-2-0-0
0-4-2-2-0-0
hope this helped
@@jakesguitarvidz Thats it! I had tried all I could think of in that area and it never sounded right. Thanks for your time! V
Good Job! Is it possible to you, to play solo, without the original track? This song was never played live.
Damn! It hurts to watch you twist your fingers to play those chords. Dean DeLeo was always like that. He could never play a simple chord lol
Dean sure uses some expensive chords in the bridge.
I should be on the right channel and I believe you may be able to separate the two. hope that helps :)
Hey man, what amp did you use for this?
+julioagueros for this song I used a line 6 POD HD Pro.. it was a neighbor considerate decision.
badass tone, doesn't surprise me Lenny Kravitz uses or used these live
Chord monster
